Expansion of the maxillae is a well recognized procedure in orthodontics. Little is known about Mandibular Expansion. This project is a pure research of the possibility of expanding the mandible laterally at the symphysis on a baboon.

The symphysis was cut A-P and expanded laterally 11 mm, then held and stabilized with a titanium mesh work screwed to the inferior border of the mandible. The defect area was filled with a bone graft of marrow and cancellous bone fragments taken from the greater trochanter and the crest of the ilium. New bone did fill in the defect and the expansion …

It was hypothesized that art therapy with the elderly would increase the quality of an informal life review and motivate them toward greater psychological well-being (life satisfaction). To test this hypothesis, 30 subjects between the ages of 61 and 83 were assigned to three experimental conditions: Art Therapy Group, Discussion Group, and Control Group.

Comparison Of Two Receptive Language Tests (Ppvt And Tacl) Used With The Developmentally Delayed, Paul H. Lamb

The purpose of this investigation was to compare the results as recorded in mental ages of the PPVT and TACL when used with developmentally delayed children. One aspect was to observe how well the mean mental age from each test would compare with the mean mental age obtained from psychometric testing (WISC-R or SB-LM results). Another aspect was to determine how well the data from the PPVT and from the TACL would correlate with the psychometric testing results.

Insertion Loss Values Of Earplugs, Michael Fairchild

Dissertations and Theses

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of measuring the insertion loss (attenuation) provided by cannon earplugs using the Knowles Electronics Manikin for Acoustic Research. Five earplugs were tested in a 90 dB sound field at discrete frequencies matching those published by NIOSH. Each plug was exposed to 10 trials. Results indicate an approximation between values obtained in the study and NIOSH published values. Some consistent differences tend to indicate that NIOSH values may overrate low frequency attenuation.

Trigeminal Neuralgia และรายงานผู้ป่วย 1 ราย สาเหตุจาก Trauma, กอบกาญจน์ ทองประสม, พรรณี สุ่มสวัสดิ์

ผู้ป่วย Trigeminal neuralgia ที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยและการรักษาจากคลินิค ตรวจพิเคราะห์ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ช่องปาก คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยตั้งแต่ปี 2509 - 2523 ทั้งหมด 34 ราย ปรากฏว่าการเกิดโรคนี้แขนง mandibular และแขนง maxillary เกิดได้เท่า ๆ กัน Trigeminal neuralgia พบในหญิงมากกว่าชาย 2:1 เป็นด้านขวามากกว่าด้านซ้าย ส่วนใหญ่ผู้ป่วยจะมีอายุ ระหว่าง 40 - 60 ปี ผู้ป่วยรายที่มีอายุน้อยที่สุดอายุ 24 ปี มีประวัติจาก trauma

Sotradecol ได้ถูกนํามาใช้รักษา Hemangioma ตลอดจนโรคที่เกิดจากความ ผิดปกติของหลอดเลือดในช่องปาก โดยฉีดบริเวณที่เป็น ครั้งละ 0.2-0.5 ซี.ซี. ทุก 2 อาทิตย์ จนรอยโรค (Lesion) หายไป พบว่ายานี้ใช้สะดวก ผลข้างเคียงมี น้อยมากและการหายก็ปราศจากร่องรอยให้เห็น

รายงานการศึกษาเรื่อง สุขภาพของทันตแพทย์ ตอนที่ 2 เกี่ยวกับการทํางาน ของทันตแพทย์พบว่า ทันตแพทย์ส่วนใหญ่ประกอบวิชาชีพทันทีหลังจากจบการศึกษา และทํางานมาโดยตลอดจนถึงปัจจุบัน สาเหตุของการหยุดทํางานไปบ้าง ส่วนใหญ่ ได้แก่ การไปศึกษาต่อทั้งนอกและในประเทศ 70% ของทันตแพทย์ที่ตอบแบบ สอบถาม ทํางานโดยรับราชการและประกอบวิชาชีพส่วนตัวด้วย โดยลงมือทํางาน ทันตกรรมเอง ซึ่งใช้เวลาประมาณวันละ 8.7 ชั่วโมง และมีจํานวนคนไข้เฉลี่ย 20 คนต่อวัน นอกจากนั้นทํางานโดยรับราชการหรือประกอบวิชาชีพส่วนตัวเพียงอย่างเดียว โดยมีชั่วโมงการทํางานและจํานวนคนไข้น้อยกว่าผู้ประกอบอาชีพทั้งสองอย่าง ในการประกอบอาชีพส่วนตัวนั้น ส่วนใหญ่ทันตแพทย์ทํางานโดยลําพัง ไม่มี บุคลากรอื่นนอกจากผู้ช่วยทํางานบางอย่างเท่านั้น แต่การทําราชการ ส่วนใหญ่จะมีผู้ร่วมงานเป็นแพทย์และทันตแพทย์อื่น สถานที่ทํางานของทันตแพทย์มากกว่าครึ่ง หนึ่งอยู่ในกรุงเทพมหานคร และมีลักษณะเป็นตึกหรือตึกแถว ส่วนใหญ่ติดเครื่องปรับอากาศในคลินิคส่วนตัว และทันตแพทย์มีความเห็นว่าสถานที่ทํางานตั้งอยู่ในสภาวะอากาศเป็นพิษน้อย ในขณะทํางานสําหรับทันตแพทย์ที่รับราชการจะยืนมาก กว่านั่ง แต่ในคลินิคส่วนตัวส่วนใหญ่จะนั่งมากกว่ายืน และกว่าครึ่งของทันตแพทย์เดินทางมาทํางานโดยพาหนะส่วนตัว

Oral Leukoplakia อาจพบได้ในช่องปากของผู้ป่วยที่มีการระคายเคืองสูง และสุขภาพภายในช่องปากไม่ดี ตลอดจนการมี systemic factors บางอย่างเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้องด้วย ดังรายงานผู้ป่วยรายนี้ เป็นชายไทยมาที่ภาควิชาเวชศาสตร์ช่องปาก เนื่องจากมีฝ้าหยาบหนาขึ้นที่กระพุ้งแก้มด้านในขยายกว้างและมีอาการตึง ๆ จากการตรวจทางคลินิคและจุลพยาธิวิทยา พบว่าเป็นการหนาตัวของเซลล์ในชั้นแกรนนูลาร์ (granular) และชั้นเคอราติน (keratin) ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะที่พบใน leukoplakia และอาจมีโอกาสจะเปลี่ยนเป็นเนื้อร้าย (Cancer) ได้ในเวลาต่อมา

การซ่อมฟันปลอมที่แตกหัก ถ้าทําด้วยอะคริลิค เรซิน ชนิดแข็งตัวที่อุณหภูมิปกติ จะลดการบิดงอของฟันปลอมนั้น เพราะไม่ต้องต้มฟันปลอมอีก ทั้งจะทําให้การสบฟันเหมือนเดิมไม่สูงขึ้นอันเกิดจากการบิดงอ การซ่อมฟันปลอมที่แตกหักควรตัดแต่งบริเวณหักให้กว้างมากที่สุดเท่าที่จะมากได้ และทําหน้าที่ตัดให้กว้างมากขึ้น เพื่อได้แนวกว้าง จะได้ยึดกันแน่นดี แต่ข้อสําคัญที่สุด ขอบ ๆ ควรมน เพื่อป้องกันแรงเค้นที่อาจเกิดขณะวัสดุแข็งตัว วิธีการซ่อมง่ายและได้อธิบายอย่างละเอียดโดย รูปภาพ และประหยัดเวลามาก

The evolution of chiropractic from a marginal health profession to the strongest and most popular alternative to orthodox medicine in the United States is examined and compared with osteopathy and naturopathy. Evidence is offered that 1974 was the landmark year for recognition of chiropractors (e.g., accreditation of colleges, reimbursement for services under Medicare) and relaxation of the American Medical Association's policy of active and overt opposition (e.g., elimination from its code of ethics of the tabu on professional association. The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

The development of new organizational forms for the delivery of health and medical care in the U.S. includes health maintenance organizations (HMOs), designed to provide a set of comprehensive basic health services to a defined population for a fixed prepaid premium. As complex organizations, HMOs have the potential for limiting the autonomy of professionals working in them. This paper describes the legal requirements and organizational mechanisms under which physicians practice in HMOs and considers the potential for conflict between the organization and professional norms.

The National Health Planning Act of 1974 designated 200 Health Systems Agencies (HSAs) nationally and a State Health Planning and Development Agency in each state. Components of the law are analyzed to illustrate its ambiguities and contradictions. The components analyzed are: the findings which led to the passage of the law; the law's purpose; the ten national health priorities; the National Guidelines for Health Planning; the purposes of the HSAs and the data they are to assemble and analyze.
