Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Gastroretentive Mucoadhesive Dosage Form (GMDF) is one type of Gastroretentive Drug Delivery System (GRDDS) technology designed to exploit the adhesiveness of dosage forms in the gastric mucosa. This aims to increase drug residence time, enhance drug solubility and absorption, and ultimately improve drug bioavailability and therapeutic effect. Various studies have explored the use of different polymers to develop GMDF systems and dosage forms. However, despite extensive research in this field, there are still limited GMDF products approved by the US FDA and INA FDA. Therefore, this review addresses the challenges in developing GMDF, its current state, and potential future opportunities. …

Peripheral Ameloblastoma Of Palatal Mucosa: A Rare Case Report And Literature Review, Filiz Namdar Pekiner, Suay Yağmur Ünal, Hakan Yülek, Gaye Keser

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Peripheral ameloblastoma (PA), an uncommon and unique form of odontogenic tumor, accounts for around 2-10% of all ameloblastomas. The extraosseous position is the distinguishing aspect of this form of tumor, which is otherwise comparable to a typical ameloblastoma. As late recurrence is also recorded, continuous follow-up is required. A case of peripheral ameloblastoma in a 23-year-old male that affected the right posterior palatal mucosa was presented in this case study. A 23-year-old male patient had an exophytic mass located at the junction of the hard and soft palate, in the palatal neighborhood of the tooth number 18. An excisional biopsy …

Minimally Invasive Treatment Of Molar Incisor Hypomineralization Without Using Burs: Experiences Via A Case Series In Vietnam, Võ Truong Nhu Ngoc, Nguyen Phương Huyen, Le Khả Anh, Phan Thi Thu Hang, Hoang Kim Loan, Ta Thành Dong

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Mild form of molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH) on anterior teeth are posing great challenges to dental practitioners as it can have a huge aesthetic impact. In terms of deep MIH-related lesion below the healthy enamel, highly invasive methods for approaching the lesion body and removing the entire hypomineralized enamel using burs could lead to failures including aesthetic problems and even further tooth structure damage to the affected teeth. Case report: To resolve t his issue, we have proposed a modified resin infiltration technique based on the minimally invasive philosophy. In this study, we would like to report three specific cases …

Analysis Of Bone Destruction Mechanism By Aggregatibacter Actinomycetemcomitans: A Systematic Review, Erik Idrus, Karenina Raihani Amalia Ardiman, Widya Lestari, Masita Mandasari, Sri Angky Soekanto

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Periodontitis is a disease marked by inflammation of the periodontium, caused by biofilms present in the oral cavity, and results in alveolar bone destruction. One of the main hallmarks of periodontitis is the presence of Aggregatibacter actinomycetecomitans, which is generally suppressed by antibiotic administration. The strategy to control A. actinomycetecomitans by small specific peptide inhibitors potentially halts the progression of alveolar bone damage while lowering the risk of antibiotic resistance. The detailed interaction mechanisms of A. actinomycetecomitans and bone cells are fundamental to discovering and constructing the specific inhibitor. Objective : To systematically review the mechanism of bone destruction by …

Metabolite Biomarker Discovery For Lung Cancer Using Machine Learning, Ariski Fajarido, Linda Erlina, Aryo Tedjo, Fadilah Fadilah, Wawaimuli Arozal

Indonesian Journal of Medical Chemistry and Bioinformatics

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. About 2.1 million lung cancer patients were diagnosed in 2018, accounting for about 11.6% of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. For lung cancer, blood is the first choice as a source of screening biomarker candidates. Blood biomarkers provide a snapshot of the patient's entire body, including the primary tumor, metastatic disease, immune response, and peritumoral stroma. However, sputum sampling, bronchial lavage or aspiration, exhaled breath (EB), and airway epithelial sampling represent unique samples for lung cancer and other airway cancers as potential sources for alternative biomarkers. Metabolites are products of …
