Interprofessional education (IPE) is defined by AOTA (2015) as an “occasion by which students from two or more professions learn about, from, and with each other to improve collaboration and quality of care”. IPE is closely related to and often overlaps with interprofessional collaboration (IPC) within healthcare settings. IPC “occurs when multiple health workers from different professional backgrounds work together with patients, families, [caregivers], and communities to deliver the highest quality of care” (World Health Organization [WHO], 2010, p. 7). The overall aim of IPE is to promote and develop effective IPC thereby improving patient outcomes (Khan, 2016).

Hypothesis and Objective: Genes participating in the notch signaling pathway are influenced by exposure to high nitrous oxide (HNO) levels. Notch signaling pathway genes are responsible for regulating cell fate, differentiation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of these genes can contribute to tumorigenesis. Alterations in the expression of these genes in MCF7 breast cancer cells could help determine the effects of the notch signaling pathway on tumorigenesis as a result of exposure to nitrous oxide.

Methods: Samples of cDNA from MCF7 and MCF7-HNO cells were used in DNA microarray analysis. Qualifying genes of interest provided a p value < .05. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were defined and categorized using the Gene Oncology Uniprot (GO) Molecular Function database. These cells were further analyzed using a proprietary bioinformatics analysis created by our laboratory.

New Horizons is a Seattle-based non-profit organization that serves to aid homeless youth in the greater Seattle area, with an end goal of ending youth homelessness in Seattle and King County. New Horizons has been operating since 1978 and has reached out to homeless youth of all different backgrounds in order to meet their basic needs and help transition them into a stable living environment. Background: An international healthcare concern is extensive shift length among registered nurses and the negative factors associated with nurse burnout. Cognitive impairment, medical errors, sleep deprivation, job dissatisfaction, and overall declined health and safety of nurses have been associated to long shift work hours among registered nurses globally. However, there is limited published evidence about the difference between 8-hour and 12-hour shift work.

Objective: This systematic review summarized evidence on the impact that 12-hour shifts compared to 8-hour shifts has on the health and safety of registered nurses.

Utilizing and integrating best evidence-based research to improve nursing care is a core responsibility of a nurse. Implementing best nursing practices leads to better patient outcomes and patient experiences. Through research, specific interventions that can reduce the incidence of delirium in critically ill patients were uncovered. Through utilization of theoretical framework, and multiple evidence-based research articles, a protocol was formed to initiate in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. This protocol consists of a multi-component intervention plan to hopefully decrease incidence of ICU delirium.

This evidence-based study of literature investigated best IM injection practice. The review was based on evidence from 3 main sources, all found on the CINAHL database. The three studies were reviewed and assessed, and best practice was found to be recommended. The first article found that several healthcare workers use different methods and techniques when administering IM injections, this leads to incorrect administration or injections not evidence based. The second article found that in order administer IM injections effectively, 5mm penetration into the muscle is needed. End of shift reporting in our chosen hospital has shown a level of unorganization and ineffectiveness. Currently, the practice is that the nursing staff are seated in or around the desk allowing for interruptions from phones, families, and other staff members. Interruptions like these allow for misinterpretation and communication errors which could lead to a decrease in a patient’s outcome and safety. Introduction- Acute colonic volvulus (ACV) is a gastrointestinal emergency that results from the torsion of a segment of the colon either at the level of the sigmoid colon or cecum. It can lead to severe complications such as bowel infarction and peritonitis which can increase mortality. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant reduction in endoscopic utilization globally. However, the data about endoscopy utilization in a gastrointestinal emergency such as ACV is not non-existent. Introduction- Injectable glucagon inhibits gastrointestinal (GI) and duodenal motility by relaxing smooth muscles, decreasing the frequency and amplitude of phasic activity of the sphincter of Oddi. This enables endoscopists to enhance biliary cannulation and extract small bile duct stone. Additionally, glucagon can potentially worsen underlying hyperglycemia and hyperkalemia especially in patients with diabetes. It is unclear if glucagon impacts the adverse events of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) such as rates of GI bleeding, GI perforation, post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) and in patient hospitalizations.

The exercise prescriptions were derived from trial method reports which may not reflect the actual dose of exercise in relation to study outcomes.
