Four types of dyslalia-substitution, omission, distortion and addition, are common in English speakers.The purpose of our study is to find the characteristics of dyslalia in Mandarin speakers. The past two years, there were 74 dyslalic patients of which 57 were males and 17 were females. Their ages ranged from 4years to 23 years. Detailed examinations and tape records were taken. The results revealed that substitution was the most common type of dyslalia. Omission was the second one. Distortion was less common than omission and was always found in combination with one of the other types of dyslalia. Addition was not …

曾經染患小兒麻痺之生還者，除了四肢或身體某部份機能喪失或麻痺外，都經由適當的復健，已「穩定」。可重新振作其殘存之力量，向世人及自己證明，他們和別人一樣，甚至比別人好。近年來，歐、美等國根據小兒麻痺長期使用患肢及輔助用具，其身體四肢長時間承受擠壓、過度或不使用，而可能造成關節酸痛或攣縮、肌肉軟弱、走路耐力減退，甚而〈再〉須使用拐杖、支架或以輪椅代步。 為使他們「早期發現、早期預防」，更生復健服務中心特別對全省各地大約二、三十年前小兒麻痺之生還者抽樣地發出問卷，主要是想調查其〈一〉生理狀況－小兒麻痺受影響之部位、使用輔助用具情形及曾接受過的手術、變形部位和目前所有的症狀。〈二〉心理、社會適應問題等。 在這兩百六十位調查回卷中，46%是男性，女性佔54%，年齡最大是四十四歲，最小者十五歲，平均年齡是二十五點三歲；大部份是在一、二歲時不幸染患小兒麻痺，僅5%是在三歲後得到的；有74.4%的人僅受過中、小學教育，其中有些家庭是低收入者，可喜的是11.5%已結婚。一般而言，他們的心理和社會適應都蠻好的，但受教育較高者對環境、社會或別人的要求也愈高，滿意程度也愈差。現在就來以小兒麻痺對其生理影響看其最近生理上的改變情形： 一、小兒麻痺對身體之影響－大部份的人是下肢受到影響，僅二十七人，10.4%下肢沒有受到侵襲，相反地，僅有28.5%的人手部受到迫害，而已有七分之一的人須靠輪椅代步。 二、最近身體之改變－在兩百六十人中，已有兩百一十四人有變壞的感覺，如39.2%的人有肌肉較弱無力的經驗，36.9%覺得容易疲勞，33.8%有脊椎側彎和20%的人有關結痠痛的經驗等。 綜合這些調查統計，雖然大多數小兒麻痺之生還者尚且太年輕，但二十八歲以上的患者比較年青者有後遺症之現象，諸如單腳的患者易造成肌肉無力，坐輪椅的人較易發胖等等，所以要注意避免新的衰弱、病痛和疲勞所造成的傷害，以免發生老化或失去活動能力了。 雖然沒有任何跡象顯示－小兒麻痺生還者會較快老化，須提早退休或甚而減少壽命，但是有些功能上的改變，是患者須特別注意的！千萬不要過度或都不使用肢體或輔助用具，都可能會造成後遺症，希望患者能做些適當地運動並保持活力。社會大眾關心此一問題及有一專責機構－如振興復健醫學中心為年齡較大的患者提供治療、測量和功能的維護，使復健醫學能繼續治癒此後遺症，好同享有美滿幸福之生活。

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the maximal force and supramaximal electrical stimulation evoked potential of the abducter pollicis brevis muscle in normal person.Fifty volunteers from January, 1984 to June, 1984 were reviewed. The growth of leisure-time, following retirement, is potentially problematic for the elderly and can result in such adversities as depression, problem drinking, loneliness, and boredom. Leisure-time resources include recreation, education, volunteerism, training, voluntary associations, familialism, and solitary activities. The use of resources for leisure-time needs of the elderly are influenced by idiosyncratic differences; cultural background, financial resources, geographic variations; and the characteristics of programs and services. There is a need to better prepare individuals for the use of leisure-time. The purpose of this study is to quantitatively compariso of the influence of different reference electrode position on the amplitude, surface area, latency and duration of CMAP during routine NCV studies in radial, ulnar and median nerves. All of these CMAP signals were sent to computer for analysis. The relationship between ankle sprains and proprioceptive deficit has been much discussed. Twenty-three patients including 17.4% minor fracture were collected from Sept. 1983 to Sept. 1984. A history of the ankle sprain. Soreness and instability were complained. Modified Romberg's test for detective objective strengthening, coordination ex., deep transverse friction and proprioceptive training were prescribed. Cases analysized and the result were reported.

25 amputee patients were studied by questionnaire to understand their rehabilitative outcome after prosthesis fitting from January to December of 1984. Among them, 22 cases were male, 3 were female; 9 were upper extremity amputee (above elbow 3, below elbow 6) and 16 were lower extremity amputee (above Knee 6, below Knee 10); all of them were one limb amputation. The maturation time for porsthesis being used skillfully depended on different patients. 44% could use the prosthesis quite well at the time of being discharged, 24% needed 3 more months, and 32% should get repeat practice until half year later. …

This study examined potentially significant factors in activity analysis: the use of humor and group structure. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of selected assistive devices on normal standards of gait. The gait characteristics of stride length, step length, step width, and foot angle were analyzed for 24 right-dominant, healthy men under four conditions: right ankle-foot orthosis (AFO), right hemiplegic arm sling (HAS), both devices (AFO+HAS), and no devices. The dependent variables were measured by a standard method from ink traces left by subjects walking on newsprint. The purpose of this study was to assess the need for a four-phase cardiac rehabilitation program in Bowling Green, Kentucky, that would serve the South Central part of Kentucky, most specifically, the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD). This assessment was based on three questionnaires mailed to cardiac patients, area cardiologists and area hospital administrators.

Each population (patients, cardiologists and administrators) received separate questionnaires. The patient questionnaires consisted of three separate mailings: initial mailing, first follow-up, second follow-up. An interval of ten days separated each mailing. Right to Education legislation has brought physical therapists and adapted physical educators together in the public school setting to serve the child with special needs. Investigation of the role responsibilities of these professionals would facilitate not only communication between the groups, but also understanding of their functions by other school personnel and administrators. We analyzed questionnaires returned by 79 physical therapists and 30 adapted physical educators to determine areas of uniqueness or similarity in 18 identified role responsibilities performed by these two groups. This study investigated the frequency of vestibular disorders in developmentally disabled preschoolers who did and who did not have a history of otitis media. Fifteen children with a history of otitis media and fifteen children with no history of otitis media were given two tests for vestibular functioning: the Southern California Postrotary Nystagmus Test (SCPNT) and the Lateral Labyrinthine Righting Reaction (LLRR), acting on the head. The scores on these tests were dichotomized, and a correlation between these two tests as measures of vestibular function was obtained. This study was designed to investigate the comparative effectiveness of free weights and the Universal Centurion in improving muscular strength. The subjects were twenty-two male students enrolled at Loma Linda University in La Sierra, California. Subjects were divided into two experimental groups, one training with free weights and the other with the Universal Centurion. The bench press exercise was utilized as both the exercise medium for the eight-week training period and also as the testing medium for the pre- and post-tests.

Analysis of 500 cerebral palsies in National Taiwan University Hospital were done from July 1980 to June 1984.Among them, 292 cases were male (58.4%), 208 were female (41.6%). The age distributions that they were brought to our clinic were sequently as following: within 1/2 year old 22.0%, 1/2 to 1 year 31.8%, 1 to 2 year 38.0%, 2 to 5 year 8.8%, above 5 year group 0.4%. The proportions of causal factors were 31.0% in prenatal period, 47.0% in perinatal period, 15.0% in postnatal period, and 7.0% in untracable cases. 為了研究中國語言構音異常的類型，利用 37個國語注音符號，分析其錯誤的分佈情形。經過構音測驗且年齡在4歲以上者共計146例，其中男性96例，女性50例。錯誤音按其發生率由高到低排列，共次序為ㄙ、ㄘ、ㄗ、ㄔ、ㄕ、ㄒ、ㄓ、ㄉ、ㄊ、ㄑ、ㄖ、ㄐ、ㄎ、ㄈ、ㄍ、ㄆ、ㄢ、ㄣ、ㄤ、ㄥ、ㄌ、ㄏ、ㄋ、ㄜ、ㄞ、ㄅ、ㄠ、ㄝ、ㄡ、ㄦ、ㄩ、ㄇ、ㄚ、ㄛ、ㄟ、ㄧ、ㄨ。其中發生錯誤的頻率最高的為ㄙ有86.3%，至曰為50%。四聲聲調的錯誤未曾發現。依發音方式而言，擦音及擦音錯誤多，爆音次之。依錯誤的型態來分，附加音的情形未發現，代替音和省略音較多，扭曲音較少。字尾音很少錯誤(0-10%)，但帶鼻音之字尾音則有27.4%的患者有鼻音缺乏的症狀，且女性的發生率高於男性。隨著年齡的增加，男性患者鼻音缺乏症狀的比例明顯降低，女性則不明顯。鼻音過重的現象極少發現。發生錯誤音的個數由2到29個，平均為11．9個錯誤音。各年齡層錯誤音的平均個數之間，無明顯差異。排行的位置，對構音異常的發生沒有明顯的影響。來接受檢查的患者，其父母親的教育程度，以高中以上者較多。
