Intensive therapy models for children with chronic disabilities are gaining popularity in clinical practice. This paper outlines an intensive, interdisciplinary group intervention protocol targeting functional mobility and occupational performance of three teenage participants diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP) (GMFCS levels 1-3). Participants demonstrated gains in function as measured by the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), Gross Motor Function Measure-88 (GMFM), Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT), Timed Up and Down Stairs (TUDS), and grip strength. These gains indicate that intensive group-based interdisciplinary therapy programs may improve the mobility and occupational performance of ambulatory teens with CP. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the major causes of morbidity in the US [1-4]. Studies suggest TBI patients’ enrollment in a rehabilitation program strongly predicts social reintegration. This type of phenomenon is particularly prevalent in developing, low-income countries where environmental accommodations may not be as accessible. A quality improvement program, was conducted as a doctoral capstone project to create resources addressing the physical needs of caregivers of children with disabilities in Nicaragua. Background: Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) are widely used in health programs to assess clinical skills. We present results of a qualitative study investigating occupational therapy students’ perceptions of OSCEs’ impact on their learning and readiness for clinical practice.

Method: Six second and six third year students in the University of Alberta’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program were interviewed in separate focus groups. Independent reviewers applied thematic analysis to the focus group transcripts to identify, analyze, and report themes in the data.

Past research suggests educating individuals about chronic pain is efficacious in changing knowledge, health beliefs, and healthcare utilization. This study piloted an educational intervention to teach participants about the nature of chronic, nociplastic pain.
