The Flora Of Bitlis River Valley, Abdullah Altiok, Lütfi̇ Behçet

This paper describes a floristic study of Bitlis river basin. The research was carried out from 2001 and 2003 to 2150 vascular plant specimens were collected. After the identification of the specimens, the flora was determined to include 925 taxa (at specific and infraspecific ranks) belonging to 770 species, 386 genera and 85 families. One hundred and seventy-nine taxa were defined as new records for the B9 square. The endemism rate of the area is 6.8% based on 63 taxa. The largest families are Asteraceae (109 taxa), Fabaceae (101 taxa) and Poaceae (77 taxa). The largest genera are Trifolium L. …

The Flora Of Kaşmer Dağı (Şanlıurfa, Turkey), Hasan Akan, Ömer Faruk Kaya, İsmai̇l Eker, Cenap Cevheri̇

This research was carried out from 2001 to 2004 in order to determine the flora of Kaşmer Dağı. The research area is situated in Şanlıurfa province and within C7 of the grid system. In the area, 262 taxa belonging to 47 families, and 156 genera were determined. Of all the collected specimens, 33 taxa are new records for C7, and 10 taxa are endemic for Turkey. According to the floristic regions, Irano-Turanian elements ranked first with a rate of 35.87%, followed by Mediterranean elements with a rate of 11.83% and Euro-Siberian elements with a rate of 1.9%. The Flora Of Erciyes Dağı (Kayseri, Turkey), Cem Vural, Zeki̇ Aytaç

This research details the flora of Erciyes Dağı, situated in the province of Kayseri in Central Anatolia, entirely within the Irano-Turanian phytogeographic region. A total of 2554 plant specimens were collected from the research area between 1996 and 2002. An evaluation of these specimens revealed 89 families, 433 genera and 1170 taxa (1116 species, 31 subspecies and 23 varieties). Of the 1170 taxa, 11 are pteridophytes, 12 gymnosperms and 1147 angiosperms (979 dicotyledons and 168 monocotyledons). Of these taxa, 36 are cultivars. This study was based on specimens of macrofungi collected from Karabük province between 1998 and 2000. It resulted in the identification of 121 taxa belonging to 33 families, and 14 taxa were added to the Turkish mycota flora as new records.

Macrofungi specimens were collected from Gölbaşı (Adıyaman) district in 2000-2003. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 77 taxa belonging to 22 families in the classes Ascomycetes and Basidiomycetes were identified. Five of them, Cyathus stercoreus (Schw.) de Toni, Entoloma rusticoides (Gill.) Noordel., Pluteus dietrichii Bres., Coprinus dilectus Fr. and Panaeolus guttulatus Bres., are new records for Turkey.

The unidentified lichen specimens collected about 50 years ago and stored in the herbarium of the Faculty of Science, the University of İstanbul (ISTF) were examined taxonomically and identified. This lichen collection includes 67 species, some of which are rare and interesting for the collection sites. Most of the samples are from İstanbul and its surroundings, but some are from several provinces in Anatolia.

This study serves as a checklist of the myxomycetes of Trabzon and Giresun provinces, Turkey. Sixty-one myxomycete were identified, 20 of which were collected in the field and 41 grown in moist chamber culture. This research was carried out in 2002 and 2003 in order to determine the flora of Kalecik Mountain. The research area is situated in Şanlıurfa province and within C7 of the grid system. This paper describes a floristic study on Kirmir valley, between Güdül and Yeşilöz district, in Ankara province. The study was carried out during 2000-2003 and 1040 vascular plant specimens were collected. Four hundred and forty-eight wild taxa belonging to 266 genera and 74 families were determined. Furthermore, as for cultivated plants, 45 taxa were determined. The total number of wild and cultivated plant species is 493. This study concerns the flora of the northern part of the Emirdağ nountains. According to Davis's grid system, the research area lies in B3 square. Four hundred and ninety-five taxa belonging to 279 genera and 70 families were found after the identification of 754 plant specimens collected from the research area. Forty-seven taxa are new records for the B3 grid square. The rate of endemism is 15.9%. The distribution of taxa within the phytogeographical regions is as follows: Irano-Turanian elements 17.9%, Mediterranean elements 8.8% and Euro-Siberians 5.4%. The floristic characteristics of Beydağı are given and the vascular plant species growing there are documented. Beydağı is situated in the south of Malatya province and is in the Irano-Turanian phytogeographical region. The research was carried out between 1986 and 2000. Two thousand one hundred plant specimens were collected from the area. At the end of the study, 873 vascular plant species (897 taxa, 185 subsp., 112 var.) and 357 genera belonging to 73 families were identified: 140 taxa (16.9%) are endemic to Turkey. This study includes the natural and cultivated plants in the Natural Conservation Area in Yumurtalık Lagoon. In an evalution of 450 herbarium specimens collected from this area in 1997 and 1998, a total of 186 genera and 234 species belonging to 65 families were identified: 223 of the 234 species are natural and 11 are cultivated. Three of the 234 taxa are endemics (1.3%), 26 taxa (11.6%) are Mediterranean elements, 13 taxa (5.8%) are East Mediterranean elements, 6 taxa (2.6%) are Irano-Turanian elements, 5 taxa (2.2%) are Euro-Siberian elements, and 1 taxon (0.4%) is a Hyrcano-Euxine element. Ambrosia tenuifolia Spreng. (Compositae) is a new addition to the flora of Turkey from Malatya (in the East Anatolia region). The specimens collected from Malatya have different properties from the known diagnostic characteristics of the species. A. tenuifolia is a monoecious plant without glands. Its female capitula are in the axils of the upper leaves in its original description, but some of our specimens have only female capitula (female capitula in terminal racemes and lower parts of the racemes bracteate, but upper parts ebracteate) and there are many glands particularly on the tops of their fruits. The flora of the Elmalı Cedar Research Forest (Antalya) was investigated. From the research area, 1296 samples were collected between September 2000 and September 2002. Of the 1296 samples, 83 represent families, 320 represent genera and 689 represent species that have been identified. The total number of species, subspecies and varieties of taxa was 708. In the analysed samples, 3 species were new to the scientific world. Twenty-eight of the taxa were collected for the first time from square C2. The vascular flora of the Karagöl-Sahara National Park and its environs (Şavşat, Artvin, Turkey) was assessed between 1997 and 2002. In the area under review, 872 taxa belonging to 364 genera and 91 families were identified. Of the 872 taxa, 21 Pteridophytes and 851 Spermatophytes were detected. Spermatophytes also contained 7 Gymnospermae and 844 Angiospermae taxa. The richest 3 families are Compositae with 90 taxa (10.2%), Leguminosae with 77 taxa (8.9%) and Gramineae with 60 taxa (7.0%). Two taxa, R. raphanistrum L. subsp. rostratus (DC.) Thell. and Campanula hierosolymitana Boiss., collected from southern Anatolia are described as a second records for the Flora of Turkey. Different taxonomists had collected these taxa from Turkey, but these collected samples were not identified correctly. These samples were not recorded in the first or sixth volume or the other 2 supplements of the Flora of Turkey in spite of these misidentifications having been published in different papers. The macrofungi specimens were collected from different localities of the Bozkır (Konya) district in 2000-2001, particularly during autumn and spring. As a result of these field and laboratory studies, 74 species belonging to 23 families were identified. Of these, seven belong to Ascomycetes and 67 belong to Basidiomycetes.

The myxomycete flora of Erzurum, Bayburt and Gümüşhane provinces was investigated. Thirty-one myxomycete species were isolated in moist chamber culture. Licea tuberculata G.W.Martin, Physarum leucopus Link and Didymium crustaceum Fr. are new records for Turkey.

The Flora Of Ahırdağı (Afyonkarahisar) And Its Environs, Mustafa Kargioğlu

The flora of Ahırdağı was investigated between 1996 and 2000. In the vegetation periods, a total of 965 plant specimens were collected. At the end of the study 603 taxa at species and subspecies ranks belonging to 299 genera and 80 families had been determined. Seventy-nine taxa are endemic, and the ratio is 13.10 %. The phytogeographical spectra of the species are as follows: Mediterranean 13.10 %, Irano-Turanian 11.61 %, Euro-Siberian 11.61 % and phytogeographically unknown 63.68 %. Threatened categories were proposed for the 79 endemic taxa according to IUCN categories.

This study was conducted on macrofungi specimens collected from Erzurum province between 1997 and 2000. As a result, 114 macrofungi species belonging to 29 families and two classes were identified. Two of them, Melanoleuca humilis (Pers.: Fr.) Sing. and Tricholoma lascivum (Fr.) Gill. (Tricholomataceae), are new records for the macrofungi flora of Turkey.

A number of specimens of Arabis mollis Steven have been collected from Van. The species is a new record for the flora of Turkey. A description, photograph and distribution map of the species are given and an identification key is supplied for its close relatives. The nomenclatural problems between the species and its synonym, A. christiani N.Busch, are discussed.

This study was carried out to determine the flora of Kumalar Mountain (Afyon) which is located in the transition zone between the Aegean and Central Anatolia. After the evaluation of 2204 plant specimens collected from the research area between 1996 and 2001, 89 families, 388 genera and 898 taxa were identified. Thirty-two taxa are cultivated and the rest are native. The number of endemic taxa is 122 (14.1%). This paper describes a floristic study of Kızıldağ (Isparta/Turkey) and its environs. The study was carried out during 1993-1996 and 1515 vascular plant samples were collected. After the identification of the specimens, the total flora has been determined as 786 taxa belonging to 770 species, 371 genera and 84 families. This investigation was carried out between 1994 and 1997 in order to contribute to knowledge on Artvin's flora. The Artvin area reflects the eastern part of the Black Sea region's rich floristic composition. The research area under review is in the Colchic province of the Euro-Siberian floristic area in the Holarctic region and is found in the A8 square according to grid system of Davis. A total taxa of 267 were identified belonging to Pteridophyta (one taxon), Gymnospermae (four taxa) and Angiospermae (262 taxa). Of these, 205 taxa of Angiospermae are in Magnoliopsida and 57 taxa of Liliopsida.
