Two species of lichenized Ascomycotina, Cyphelium notarisii (Tul.) Blomb. & Forss. and Strangospora moriformis (Ach.) Stein are newly reported for Turkey. Both species were collected from Pinus nigra subsp. pallasiana in Eskişehir province.

The Flora Of Agricultural Areas And Their Environs In Çanakkale (Lapseki-Ezine), İsmet Uysal, Ersi̇n Karabacak, Özcan Seçmen, Sevi̇l Oldacay
Turkish Journal of Botany
This work was carried out in the agricultural areas of Çanakkale (Lapseki-Ezine) and environs between 1999 and 2001. The study area is suitable for plant species richness because of its microclimate, soil and intensive agricultural activities. A total taxa of 267 were identified belonging to Pteridophyta (one taxon), Gymnospermae (four taxa) and Angiospermae (262 taxa). Of these, 205 taxa of Angiospermae are in Magnoliopsida and 57 taxa of Liliopsida. The phytogeographical spectrums of taxa are as follows: Mediterranean elements, 61 taxa (22.8%); East-Mediterranean elements, 20 taxa (7.5%); Euro-Siberian elements, 15 taxa (5.6%); and Irano-Turanian elements, five taxa (1.9%). Flora Of Başkonuş Mountain (Kahramanmaraş), Ömer Varol

The research area is situated in Kahramanmaraş province. In this study, during the period 1998-1999 1265 plant specimens, 67 families, 268 genera, 520 species and eight subspecies were collected and identified. The total number of specific and infraspecific taxa is 528. Thirty-five of the 528 taxa are new records for the C6 square. The number of endemic plants is 55 (10.42%). The distribution rates of the specimens into phytogeographical regions are as follows: Mediterranean elements 145 (27.46%), Irano-Turanian elements 76 (14.39%) and Euro-Siberian elements 23 (4.36%).

In Vitro Clonal Propagation Of A Multipurpose Tree, Ziziphus Spina-Christi (L.) Desf., C. Sudhersan, J. Hussain

A simple and efficient protocol for the clonal micropropagation of Ziziphus spina-christi (L.) Desf., a multipurpose native tree species highly adapted to the harsh environmental conditions of Kuwait, has been established using shoot tips and stem nodal segments as explants. The explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium with and without growth regulators. The nodal segments and shoot tips isolated from the primary cultures were cultured on hormone-free MS media containing 100 mg/l myo-Inositol, 150 mg/l glutamine and 2.5% sucrose for plant growth and elongation. The vascular flora of the central part of the Abant Nature Park (Bolu, Turkey) was assessed during 1994-1995. Plants (1440 specimens) were collected from the research area and by the evaluation of them and the relevant literature it was determined that there are 664 species in the area including 150 subspecies and 67 varieties, belonging to 84 families and 332 genera. The largest family is Asteraceae (68; 10.3%) and the second largest is Poaceae (55; 8.3%). The largest genus is Veronica L. (15; 2.3%) and the second largest is Ranunculus L. (12; 1.8%). Araujia cericifera Brot. (Asclepiadaceae), a S. American native, is a new record for the flora of Turkey. The specimens were collected from Ordu. A description and illustration are given.

The material of this study comprises macrofungi specimens which were collected from different localities in Alanya district in the Mediterranean region between 1999 and 2001. As a result of field and laboratory studies 188 taxa belonging to two classes and 38 families were identified. Eleven taxa belonged to Ascomycetes and 177 to Basidiomycetes.

This study was conducted on specimens of macrofungi collected from Tokat province between 1998 and 2000. Five species belong to the class Ascomycetes and 54 to the class Basidiomycetes and they are as follows; Ascomycetes: Helvellaceae: 1, Morchellaceae: 3, Nectriaceae: 1, Basidiomycetes: Lycoperdaceae: 3, Sclerotermatacea: 1, Tremellaceae: 1, Ganodermataceae: 1, Rhizopogonaceae: 1, Polyporaceae: 8, Schizophyllaceae: 1, Nidulariaceae: 1, Pleurotaceae: 2, Boletaceae: 5, Tricholomataceae: 8, Agaricaceae: 9, Coprinaceae: 7, Strophariaceae: 1, Cortinariaceae: 2, Russulaceae: 3. Coprinus fimetarius (L.) Fr., Coprinus silvaticus (L.: Fr.) Fr., and Cortinarius violaceus (L.: Fr.) Fr. are new records for Turkish mycoflora.

The Moss Flora (Musci) Of Ilgaz Mountain National Park, Gökhan Abay, Barbaros Çeti̇n

A list of mosses from the Ilgaz Mountain National Park which is an important area because of its location and floristic richness, is presented. A total of 109 taxa belonging to 56 genera and 21 families were found from 650 moss specimens collected between 1997 and 2000. Among them, 15 taxa are new records for the A2 grid square according to the system of Henderson & Prentice (1969).

Four species of myxomycetes are recorded for the first time from Turkey: Licea variabilis Schard., Licea synsporos Nann.-Brem., Oligonema schweinitzii Martin, and Didymium iridis (Ditmar) Fries. Furthermore, Oligonema Rost. is a new genus record for Turkey.

New Records For The Genus Heterodinium Kofoid (Dinophyceae) From Turkish Coastal Waters (North-Eastern Mediterranean), Sevi̇m Polat, Tufan Koray

Three species of the genus Heterodinium Kofoid are reported for the first time in Turkish coastal waters, in the north-eastern Mediterranean. The identified species are Heterodinium mediocre Kofoid, H. angulatum Kofoid & Michener and H. inaequale Kofoid. The morphological characteristics of these three species are described and information about their distribution is given.

In this study the aspartate aminotransferase (AAT, E.C. 2.6.1.1), phosphoglucomutase (PGM, E.C. 5.4.2.2) and phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI, E.C. 5.3.1.9) isozyme patterns of nine different diploid and tetraploid wild wheat species belonging to the Aegilops L. and Triticum L. genera were analysed electrophoretically, using horizontal starch gel and non-denaturating polyacrylamide gel (only for AAT). All species were found to have three AAT isozyme zones (except for the AAT of Aegilops speltoides Tausch on starch gel) on both gels. While the migration distances of AAT-1 isozyme were similar, the AAT-2 and AAT-3 band patterns were different on both gels. A single PGI …

In vitro cultures of five moss species were established on hormone-free MS medium, or on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and kinetin. In vitro culture of Eurhynchium praelongum (Hedw.) B., S. & G., has been initiated from the apical shoots of the gametophytes, and the cultures of Aloina aloides (K.F.Schultz) Kindb. Brachythecium velutinum (Hedw.) B., S. & G., Ceratodon purpureus (Hedw.) Brid. and Grimmia pulvinata (Hedw.) Sm. were initiated from the spores of immature sporophytes. Macrofungi Of Yahyalı Region (Kayseri), Giyasetti̇n Kaşik, Celaleddi̇n Öztürk, Azi̇z Türkoğlu, Hasan Hüseyi̇n Doğan

Some macrofungi specimens were collected from Yahyalı (Kayseri) province in 2000-2001. As a result of field and laboratory studies, 94 taxa belonging to 28 families were identified. Nine species belong to Ascomycotina and 85 to Basidiomycotina. The distribution, habitat and collecting numbers of the identified species are given.

A further collection of Hieracium L. and Pilosella Hill (Compositae) from NE Anatolia is presented here. In addition to the 32 second records, 7 new records of the genus Hieracium (H. pseudosvaneticum Peter s.l., H. biebersteinii Litw. & Zahn, H. callichlorum Litw. & Zahn, H. camkorijense Zahn s.l.) and Pilosella (P. brachiata (Bertol. & DC.) F.W.Schultz & Sch. Bip, P. fennica (Norrl.) Norrl. em. Soják, P. procera (Fr.) F.W.Schultz & Sch. Bip.) are established for Anatolia in this study.
