The study of viral diversity in uncultivated fungi, including those involved in mycorrhizal relationships, alongside research on viral communities in phytopathogenic and economically important fungi, is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of mycovirus diversity and evolution. Mycorrhizal fungi host various viruses, contributing to our understanding of virus diversity and evolution. Here, we report on the identification and complete genome characterization of two novel mitoviruses that naturally infect the hypogeous, mycorrhizal fungi Statesia pompholyx and Tuber sp. In this study, Ferula erzincanica, a new species from East Anatolia, is described and illustrated. The new species shows significant differences from F. rigidula and F. divaricata, particularly by in the dissection of basal leaves, the length and orientation of the inflorescence branches, the length of the pedicels, the undulation of the dorsal wings of the mericarps, and the number of commissural vittae, as well as in the micromorphology of fruits as analyzed by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). Hypericum chishuiense (Hypericaceae), a new species from Chishui County, Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated. Molecular phylogenetic analyses, based on five plastid DNA markers (psbA-trnH, psbC-trnS, rbcL, trnL-trnF, and trnS-trnG), place the new species within H. sect. Ascyreia. Morphologically, the new species is closely related to H. stellatum and H. rotundifolium, but it can be distinguished by several features, including broadly ovate, ovate-elliptic to subcircular leaves (vs. oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate to narrowly ovate leaves of H. stellatum) and broadly elliptic, ovate to triangular-ovate sepals (vs. narrowly lanceolate and rare markedly leaf-like sepals H. stellatum), and it can be distinguished …

In this paper, neutral salt NaCl and basic salt Na2CO3 were used to simulate salt stress and alkali stress respectively, and the effects of salt stress and alkali stress on seed germination and growth changes in natural saline-alkali soil were studied, in order to provide theoretical basis for making full use of plant resources and improving production efficiency. The fruit peel of Amorpha fruticosa contains a lot of lipids, which has a significant effect on seed germination. Under salt stress, removal of pericarp significantly increased germination rate, germination potential and germination index (P< 0.05), and significantly shortened germination time of seeds (p< 0.05), which accelerated the establishment of seedlings, reduced the stress time during germination, and advanced the transition from heterotrophic to autotrophic, accumulating more anions and organic solutes to adapt to salt stress. Therefore, when planting in neutral salt soil, it can be used to remove the peel for sowing to improve the planting effect. However, under alkali stress, the growth is inhibited by the absorption of a large amount of Na+ and high pH value, so it is not suitable for removing the peel for sowing. Different germination conditions had significant effects on seed germination. The length and biomass of radicle and germ in sand culture were significantly higher than those in paper culture (P< 0.05). Under the condition of sand culture, the concentration of the treatment solution can be well maintained, which is conducive to fixing the seedlings and reducing the interference of other mineral elements. Therefore, sand culture method is recommended for seed germination experiments under stress, especially for plants with developed roots.

Many Pinuxylon W.Gothan 1905 (formerly described as Lesbosoxylon Süss & Velitzelos 2010) fossil woods were identified from different parts of Türkiye. After five species had been described from Lesbos Island and one new species from Eastern Anatolia, more recent studies showed that this fossil-genus comprises more species and had a wider range in the Early Miocene through the Aegean Islands and Anatolia. Arsenic (As) is a widespread and highly toxic metalloid that adversely affects plant health, leading to reduced yields, impaired photosynthesis, and compromised root structures. Although acetylcholine (ACh), a neurotransmitter implicated in plant growth and stress responses, has shown potential in mitigating heavy metal stress, its effects on As stress in maize (Zea mays L.) remain largely unexplored. This study investigated the impact of ACh treatments on maize seedlings exposed to As stress (100 µM), focusing on physiological responses, growth rates, photosynthesis, and the antioxidant system. The effect of a microbial mixture containing anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (APB) on the growth of Arabidopsis thaliana ecotype Col-0 under salt stress was investigated. To induce salt stress, 150 mM NaCl was applied to A. thaliana. Four treatments were employed to assess the impact of APB: (1) control plants, (2) plants inoculated with a mixture of enriched photosynthetic bacteria, (3) plants inoculated with a mixture of enriched photosynthetic bacteria and irrigated with 150 mM NaCl solution, and (4) plants irrigated with 150 mM NaCl solution. In Pakistan, viroid infections have rapidly spread across different citrus cultivar, posing serious challenges to the survival of orchards. This study encompasses the determination of the prevalence and detection of Citrus dwarfing viroid (CDVd) in both reported and newly introduced citrus cultivars in Pakistan using RT-PCR. 154 walnut genotypes from various geographic regions were analyzed in the study. Micronutrient concentrations of zinc (Zn) ranged from 1.61 to 8.98 mg/100 g, and the concentrations of copper (Cu) varied between 0.12 and 0.38 mg/100 g. 16,473 SNPs were generated using Diversity Array Technology (DArT) for genome-wide association (GWAS) studies. With approximately 80 species across six genera (Leonurus, Lagopsis, Panzerina, Lagochilus, Chaiturus, and Loxocalyx), the tribe Leonureae represents one of the most morphologically diverse tribes within the subfamily Lamioideae of Lamiaceae. Previous studies indicated that Leonurus and Lagopsis are not monophyletic, and relationships among and within these genera remain unclear due to limited sampling and DNA markers. The advent of next-generation sequencing technologies, mainly double digest restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (ddRADSeq), has significantly advanced the development of molecular markers for crop genetics. This study used ddRADSeq to identify and develop insertion-deletion (InDel) markers in 25 peanut genotypes from diverse geographic regions. The bioinformatic analysis unveiled 62728 InDels across the peanut genome, predominantly between 1-5 bp, which constituted 96% of the total, while InDels of ≥ 6 bp accounted for 3.96%. The apple (Malus domestica [Suckow] Borkh) is economically and culturally significant worldwide, thriving in temperate regions. This study examined genetic variations among 52 apple accessions from three research centers in Kazakhstan using the iPBS-retrotransposons marker system. Out of 35 screened markers, 12 highly polymorphic markers were selected for PCR amplification, resulting in 280 bands, 279 of which were polymorphic, yielding a 99.64% polymorphism rate. Genetic diversity indices showed substantial variation: effective number of alleles (ne=1.655), Shannon's information index (I=0.373), gene diversity (h=0.549), and an average genetic distance of 1.2. The objective of the study: Climate change and human activities impose severe biotic and abiotic stresses that threaten plant survival. To cope with these extreme conditions, plants have evolved various resistance mechanisms. The purpose of this study was to assess whether sulfate applications (pre- and combined) caused the changes of tolerance against boron (B) toxicity in Arabidopsis thaliana at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. Plants were germinated and grown on MS medium for 12 days, and then, sulfate pre-treatment groups (PS-B) were transferred to sulfate-containing media for 3 days. Subsequently, PS-B, combined (S+B) and un-treated application groups were transferred to medium containing 3 and 5 mM B for 10 days. Cistus species are also widely used in traditional medicine and have various medicinal applications; therefore, they deserve more in-depth research. The present study evaluated the effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and silver nanoparticles (AgNP) on Salvia nemorosa L. under NaCl stress. To this end, total soluble sugar, total phenolic and flavonoid contents, total antioxidant capacity, H2O2 content, photosynthetic pigment, MDA, and proline contents, and enzymatic antioxidant activities were assessed. When the results for photosynthetic pigment contents were evaluated, the highest levels of total carotenoid content, chlorophyll a, and chlorophyll b were obtained with NaCl + AgNP + MeJA treatment. This paper explores the correlations between morphological variability and range dynamics in western Eurasian-Mediterranean flora through a fluctuating asymmetry (FA) perspective across ten climate scenarios. We investigate the potential distribution of Scilla L. and its thermopluviometric correlations, and compare them with other three genera analysed previously, for western Eurasia and northern Africa (Baldellia Parl., Jasione L., and Ononis L. -Viscosae and Natrix sections-), considering past (22 Kyrs), present, and future conditions (2081-2100). Within this study, the ecosystem status of the Aegean Sea coasts of Türkiye (Eastern Mediterranean) was assessed using the Posidonia Biotic Index (BiPo) and a newly proposed Non-destructive Phytobenthic Index (NPI) according to the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD 2000/60/EC). In addition, their relations with Land Uses Simplified Index for shallow water macroalgae (MA₋LUSI) were evaluated. The descriptors measured through NPI were: shoot density, cover, depth and type of lower limit of Posidonia meadows and cover of other macrophytic communities; Cymodocea/Zostera, canopy forming brown, coralligenous, opportunistic and alien macroalgae. Polygonum uysalii (Polygonaceae), a new species from the transition zone between Mediterranean and Irano-Turanian floristic region of Türkiye is described based on morphological and molecular evidence. The new species is similar to P. ekimianum and P. salebrosum endemic to Türkiye, but it clearly differs by its ovate-broadly elliptic leaf (not linear–lanceolate to narrowly elliptic- suborbicular), 0.9 ̶ 1.6 mm length pedicel (not 2.1 ̶ 4.88 mm), dark brown ochrea at base (not pale brown) and trigonous fruit (not weakly trigonous only in upper part or ovate-elliptic). Cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channel (CNGC) is one of the important calcium conducting channels and involves in numerous biological functions such as plant development, phytohormone responses, plant-pathogen interactions. Nevertheless, identification of CNGC gene family has yet not been carried out in date palm crop. In this study, genome-wide identification, and pharmacological analysis of date CNGCs was conducted against fungal pathogens. The 26 PdCNGC genes were identified by using extensive bioinformatics tools. The campos rupestres, ecosystems that are both unique and highly diverse, are home to a variety of endemic species, including Comanthera bisulcata (Eriocaulaceae). This species, of economic importance, has its inflorescences used in handicrafts due to the fact that they retain the appearance of living structures even after being harvested and dried. The trade of these inflorescences depends almost exclusively on extraction, an activity of great importance for the traditional communities of the Espinhaço Meridional municipalities, in Minas Gerais. Corylus heterophylla, the majestic hazelnut tree, stands as one of the esteemed quartet of grand nuts reigning across the landscapes of temperate Asia, Europe, and North America. But its relationship with endophytic fungi remains thinly explored. This study successfully identified a new species designated as Nigrospora coryli through conjoint analysis of morphology and systematics. The genetic regions examined encompassed ITS, TUB2, and TEF1-α.The detailed morphological description, colour photographs of Macro- and microcharacters are presented.
