Wildfires are becoming more frequent, severe, and long-lasting, driving rapid growth in sensor-based and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled systems for early detection and risk assessment. This article presents a systematic literature review, based on 169 studies screened from 7511 records, of wildfire monitoring approaches using satellite and aerial remote sensing, fixed cameras, wireless sensor networks, and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms combined with machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models for ignition detection, fire-weather indices, spread prediction, and burned-area mapping. The review organizes existing work by sensing modality, spatial and temporal scale, learning task, model type, and deployment architecture, and …

Smartphone-based sensors may provide a complement to laboratory-based force-plate balance assessment; however, validation studies have not established whether smartphone–force-plate associations and agreement vary across combined manipulations of visual input and support-surface reliability, or which smartphone-derived metrics are most sensitive to sensory challenges. Therefore, this study compared smartphone-derived and force-plate-derived sway metrics during virtual reality-based clinical test of sensory interaction and balance (VR-CTSIB) conditions. This secondary analysis included 40 adults (20 with chronic ankle instability and 20 healthy controls). Participants completed 30 s double-leg stance trials under six VR-CTSIB conditions combining firm or foam surfaces with NormVision, DisplayOff, and SwayRef visual …

The study aims to characterize age-associated changes in skeletal muscle bioenergetics by evaluating the response to ischemia-reperfusion in the skeletal muscle of the Goto-Kakizaki (GK) rats, a rat model of non-obese type 2 diabetes (T2D). 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) MRI was performed on the hindlimb of young (12 weeks) and adult (20 weeks) GK and Wistar (control) rats. 31P-MRS and BOLD-MRI data were acquired continuously during an ischemia and reperfusion protocol to quantify changes in phosphate metabolites and muscle oxygenation. The time constant of phosphocreatine recovery, an index of mitochondrial oxidative capacity, …

F Response Frequency For The Median And Ulnar Nerves In A Normal Population, Patricia J. Killea Aug 1992

F Response Frequency For The Median And Ulnar Nerves In A Normal Population, Patricia J. Killea

Rehabilitation Sciences Theses & Dissertations

The F wave or F response results form the recurrent discharge of antidromically activated anterior horn cells. F response latency represents an impulse which travels to and from the spinal cord through the central segment of a nerve. Study of the F wave is commonly done to assess proximal conduction in motor nerves, to measure motor nerve conduction velocity over a longer pathway than in orthodromic motor studies, and to assess motor neuron excitability. F response characteristics less commonly studied include duration, chronodispersion, shape, amplitude, and frequency. The primary purpose of this study was to determine F response frequencies of …
