Students' Perceived Value And Emotions In Turkish Physical Education: Testing Moderation By Gender And Sports Involvement, Mehmet Ceylan, Kelly L. Simonton
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Physical Education (PE) has been recognized as a key element in developing student enjoyment for physical activity and healthy lifestyle habits. Student emotions may dictate learning and motivation, but less is known regarding the perceptions of value and control that shape these emotions. Specifically, within certain K-12 PE national curriculums and cultures, the goals and objectives of PE, along with its emphasis on physical activity and sport, may influence the emotional response of students and their perceived value of PE. If students feel a lack of value, negative emotions, and marginalized by the content then it is unlikely their experiences …

A Survey Of Nurse Practitioners' And Physician Assistants' Students' Preparedness And Interest In Utilizing Physical Activity In Patient Care, Barrett Snyder
West Chester University Master’s Theses
Despite the well-documented benefits of physical activity (PA) for physical and mental health, as well as its role in preventing chronic disease and reducing mortality, most individuals fall short of meeting recommended PA guidelines. Although medical professionals recognize the value of PA counseling, several barriers, such as limited academic coverage, time constraints, and lack of reimbursement, have hindered its consistent implementation in clinical practice. To address these challenges, initiatives like Exercise is Medicine (EIM) promote integrating PA as a vital sign and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, including referrals to Clinical Exercise Physiologists (CEPs), to support PA promotion. This evolving approach presents …

Physicians’ Attitude, Knowledge, And Perceived Control Towards The Use Of Exercise As A Form Of Preventive Medicine, Matthew Robert Warner
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Exercise is a component of physical activity that can aid in the reduction of deaths, lowering obesity rates, and chronic illness. However, many Americans are not meeting the recommended physical activity levels (Carlson, et al., 2018). Quality and accurate health information regarding physical activity is one way to help combat health disparities. Health professionals such as primary care physicians can aid in promoting this lifestyle modification. However, there are shortfalls in physicians’ knowledge of using exercise as a form of preventive medicine for chronic illness. Many medical programs have little to no training in exercise principles (Cardinal et al., 2015). …

Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports
Exercise interventions hold promise for preventing and treating numerous conditions, diseases, and injuries. However, these interventions will only be effective if they are being used. Unfortunately, uptake and adherence to prescribed exercise and physical activity guidelines are insufficient. Some reasons for this include lack of knowledge, resources, flexibility, and enjoyment. Exercise program developers need to not only consider the effectiveness of the program during the development phase, but also involve end-users and receive feedback on program usability to determine likelihood of uptake and adoption. Usability testing can be used to detect barriers to use and implementation likelihood but has not …
