[Objective] Achieving a rapid, sensitive, and visual detection of 6-benzylaminopurine （6-BA） residues in vegetables. [Methods] Based on the peroxidase-like activity and specific recognition of Fe3O4 magnetic molecularly imprinted nanoparticles （Fe3O4 MMIP NPs）, a simple, rapid and highly selective colorimetric method was established to detect 6-BA residues in vegetables. [Results] Fe3O4 MMIP NPs exhibits optimal peroxidase-like catalytic activity at pH 4.0, 0.02 mol/L TMB, 0.02 mol/L H2O2 and a reaction time of 5 min. 6-BA showed a good linear relationship with the difference between the blank and the sample …

A food composition database estimating S-methyl cysteine sulfoxide (SMCSO) was created following a systematic literature search. SMCSO data (705 entries) from 19 vegetables were summarised: brassicas (n = 10) and alliums (n = 9). The highest SMCSO in brassicas was reported in Brussels sprouts (median [range]: 318 [68−420] mg/100 g fresh weight (FW)) whilst the lowest was in radish (19 [4–45] mg/100 g FW). Brussels sprouts were almost twice as concentrated in SMCSO as cauliflower, followed by cabbage, kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, swede, Chinese cabbage, and turnips. Objective: Understand the quality and safety of vegetables sold in Shanghai, and provide data and reference for future supervision. Methods: Public information on the supervision and sampling of vegetables by the Shanghai Market Supervision and Administration from 2019 to 2021 was collected, and the information was analyzed and summarized. Results: The statistical results of 2019—2021 show that the unqualified rate of vegetable products were 1.36%, 0.78% and 2.88%, respectively. Bulb vegetables, beans and leafy vegetables were found to be unqualified products within three years, and the unqualified rate of bulb vegetables was the highest. The main substandard …

Uncertainty Evaluation Of The Determination Of Vitamin C In Fruits And Vegetables By High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Wang Xia, Zhang Wei-Yi, Han Yi-Yi, Chen Mei-Lian, Feng Dong-Sheng

To evaluate the uncertainty of the determination of vitamin C in fruits and vegetables by high performance liquid chromatography, a mathematical model was established to evaluate each uncertainty component, and the standard uncertainty and extended uncertainty of the synthesis were calculated. The results showed that the amounts of vitamin C in samples was 33.7 mg/100 g, and the expanded uncertainty was 1.4 mg/100 g (k=2). The uncertainties of the determination mainly come from the preparation of standard solution and the repeatability of determination.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Veggiecation was developed to improve children’s vegetable consumption through classroom lecture and cooking activities. In this study, we explored potential determinants of vegetable consumption behavior and intention, and examined the impact of Veggiecation on vegetable consumption behavior, intention and personal factors among Korean children. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The 4-week Veggiecation program was implemented for second-graders in South Korea (35 children in the intervention group, 36 in the control group). We identified personal and environmental factors influencing vegetable consumption behavior and intention using multiple regression analyses.
