The Use Of Mini-Titanium Plates For Osteosynthesis In Extremity Fractures Located Near Joints In Cats And Dogs, Hasan Bi̇lgi̇li̇

This study was carried out with a total of 23 animals: two dogs and 21 cats. Appropriate mini-titanium plates and screws were selected with the aid of radiographs the day before the operation. All the animals were anesthesized with xylazine hydrochloride 2.3 mg/kg IM (Rompun, Bayer, Turkey) premedication followed by ketamine hydrochloride 10 mg/kg IM (Ketalar, Eczacıbaşı, Turkey) injection. The selected mini-titanium plates were shaped according to the fractured bone and applied. All the animals were monitored 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 weeks postoperatively by means of clinical and radiological examinations. Twenty-one animals showed no postoperative complications; all the …

This research was carried out on 125-day-old Ile de France (IF)X Akkaraman (AK) (G1) male lambs. In the research, the phenotypic parameters of some testis characteristics determined before and after slaughtering were calculated. The least-squares means of left and right testis diameters, left and right testis lengths, left and right testis volumes before and after slaughtering were found to be 3.7±0.09 cm and 4.2±0.12 cm; 3.9±0.10 cm and 4.2±0.11 cm; 6.6±0.17 cm and 7.4±0.21 cm; 6.9±0.17 cm and 7.4±0.17 cm; 51.7±2.76 cm^3 and 70.1±4.57 cm^3; 57.8±3.76 cm^3 and 87.4±7.86 cm^3, respectively. The aim of this investigation was to compare some quality characteristics of goose-meat salami with those of turkey- and chicken-meat salami in order to determine its suitability for consumption and to able to use goose meat for meat product technology. The pH values of experimental samples were highest in the goose-meat salami and lowest in the turkey-meat salami. Moisture rates of samples produced with a mixture of two kinds of poultry meat were lower than those of the others. In this study Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd contents were analyzed in liver and muscle tissues of ten fish species (Mullus barbatus, Mugil cephalus, Trachurus trachurus, Pagellus acarne, Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus auratus, Sardinella aurita, Boops boops, Scomber japonicus, Solea solea) caught in the Gulf of Antalya in January, February and March 2000. Cu and Zn contents were found to be 0.51-3.66 mg/kg and 3.17-11.36 mg/kg in fish muscles and 0.83-4.44 mg/kg and 3.97-15.14 mg/kg in liver tissue respectively. Pb and Cd, important heavy metals for human health, were found at levels of 0.00-2.05 mg/kg and 0.00-0.13 mg/kg in fish muscle …

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of FSH and LH hormones on in vitro development of cat oocytes. The ovaries from spayed cats were brought to the laboratory in +4 °C PBS solution two hours after being collected. This study was carried out to compare the growth, fattening performance and carcass characteristics of Morkaraman (M) and Kıvırcık (K) x (K x M) Bı lambs. Fifty-four M and 57 K x (K x M) Bı male and female lambs were used for growth traits and 18 M and 30 K x (K x M) Bı for fattening traits, and 6 male lambs for slaughter and carcass traits. Growth was investigated from the birth to weaning (day 90). The lambs were fed, after weaning at approximately 25 kg live weight, with sainfoin and concentrates ad libitum. In this study, a total of 23 humeri of German shepherd puppies of ages between 40 and 100 days were used. It was observed that the proximal and distal epiphyseal regions were not closed and even the epiphysis was partially spongious. The width of the epiphyseal plate and epiphysis were not equal and they reached the same level with age. There were variations between the epiphysis widths of the right and left humeri and the differences between these values were statistically significant. The Turkish Merino is the most common mutton breed in Turkey. In this study the Turkish Merino was used as a sire line for the production of two-way and three-way crossbred slaughter lambs. Our aim was to investigate improvements in the meat production of these crossbred lambs. For the first time in Turkey, renal autotransplantation in 7 cats and renal allotransplantation in 7 cats having blood-crossmatch-compatible donors were performed. Immunosuppression was maintained by a prednisolone-cyclosporin combination in the renal allotransplantation group. All cats in the renal allotransplantation group died during the operation or between 3 and 72 h postoperatively. Two cats in the renal autotransplantation group survived approximately 2 years. Hyperacute or acute rejection findings were not encountered according to perioperative observations, laboratory findings or histopathological evaluations of renal allografts. The aim of this study was to determine immunogenic structures by immunoblotting in thermophilic Campylobacter strains isolated from chickens. The bands obtained from C. jejuni strains were found to be distributed between 10.8 and 116.5 kD by SDS-PAGE analysis of whole cell proteins. The bands 78, 63, 52, 48.5, 43.5, 29.8, 25.6, 22, 18.5, 17.2 and 16.5 kD were detected as the major common bands in all C. jejuni strains. Electrophoretic analysis of C. coli strains revealed that protein band profiles ranged between 10.3 and 118 kD, and 76, 63-62, 52, 48.5, 44 and 30.5 kD bands were all major …
