Feeding Organisms Living In Capoeta Trutta (Heckel;1843) In The Tigris River And Changes In These Organisms According To Month And Age, Fevzi̇ Yilmaz, Kemal Solak

This study was conducted in order to determine the species of feeding organisms living in the stomach contents of Capoeta trutta in the Tigris River and changes in the organisms according to season, month and age. For this purpose, 120 fish samples were caught between September 1991 and August 1992. At the end of this study, 31 plant-like and 2 animal-like organisms were identified, making a total of 33 genera. The total nutrition consisted of the following percentages: 61.24% Bacillariophyta, 27.72% Cyanophyta, 8.88% Chlorophyta, 1.88% Euglenophyta and 0.25% zoological organisms.

In this study, cadmium concantrations in the muscle, brain, and bone tissues of Tilapia nilotica exposed to 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 ppm of cadmium (Cd) for 15, 30 and 60 days were examined. At the end of assigned periods, the concentrations of cadmium in the tissues were measured by Atomic Absorbtion Spectrofotometer (AAS). The concentration of the cadmium in the muscle tissue was not statistically significiant in relation to medium concentration and the period. In this study, the total fatty acid compositions of the eggs, and the seventh, eighth and ninth nymphal developmental stages and one-day-old adults and thirty-day-old adults of both sexes of the black cricket Melanogryllus desertus reared on stock-culture medium, were analysed separately by gas chromatography. Oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids constituted the major part of the fatty acid compositions at the examined developmental stages. However, palmitoleic, linolenic, myristic and arachidic acids were found in somewhat small percentages. Twenty-six animals of the species Meriones tristrami Thomas, 1892 were studied morphologically. The animals were collected province of Diyarbakır-Turkey. The specimens were studied in respect to thier morphological characteristics in detail. The data obtained from the specimens were compared with the results of the previous studies. Results shows that the samples are Meriones tristrami Thomas,1892 which are living Diyarbakır province, in Turkey. Skins and skulls have been deposited at the Dicle University, Science & Art Faculty, Biology Department.

Studies were carried out to establish the family of Pentatomidae within 50 localities in Edirne and its provinces during the seasons of spring, summer and autumn of 1992-1994. Thus, 7 species, 6 genus of Podopinae; 2 species, 2 genus of Asopinae; 25 species, 16 genus of Pentatominae and as a total of 34 species, 24 genus, 3 subfamilies, belong to the family of Pentatomidae were determined. Rumen contents obtained from 27 adult domesticated cattle (Bos taurus L.) were surveyed for the ciliate formae belonging to Entodinium longinucleatum. All the protozoa identified as belonging to the species were distinguished as E. longinucleatum forma longinucleatum with a frequency appearance of 96.30% (in 26 animals examined). The ciliate numbers of the forma range from 1,184 to 98,826 per milliliter of rumen contents, with a mean of 31,779. The rumen ciliate protozoal composition belonging to the family Ophryoscolecidae from Turkish domestic sheep (Ovis ammon aries) was investigated. As the result of our investigation, 8 genera (Diplodinium, Eudiplodinium, Ostracodinium, Metadinium, Enoploplastron, Polyplastron, Epidinium and Ophryoscolex) including 10 species and 11 formae were distinguished. The genus and species which have the highest appearance frequency are Metadinium and M. affine, respectively, with the same value of 85.71%. In this study, a total of 29 specimens (16 males, 10 females and 3 juvenile) collected from Ihlara Valley were examined. The study was based on pholidosis, coloration and pattern, and body measurement as well as ecological and biologic observations. In conclusion it was determened that the population in the vicinity of Aksaray possess the same features as the nominate subspecies.

In this study, the keys, morphological descriptions, World and Turkey's distributions and their hosts of the species Ceuthorrhynchidius horridus Panzer, Ceuthorrhynchus (Glocianus) albovittatus Germar, C. (Mogulones) javeti Ch. Brisout, Ceuthorrhynchus (s. str.) picitarsis Gyllenhal, C. (s. str.) similis Ch. Brisout, C. (s. str.) sulcicollis Paykull, C. (Hadroplantus) trimaculatus Fabricius and Zacladus asperatus Gyllenhal are given. The male genitalia are illustrated with the figures and described. The male genital characters of these species are discussed on the level of species and other categories.

Studies so far conducted in Turkey on the species of Vespoidea were reviewed. Including the new taxa determined in this study, a total of 234 species and 48 subspecies belonging to 51 genera have been recorded in Turkey so far. The new records for Turkish fauna are Alastor esfandiarii Giordani Soika, Brachyodynerus kopetdagicus Kostylev and Ischnogasteroides picteci tenuis (Morawitz) in the family Eumenidae. Important diagnostic characters of these species and subspecies are described and shown in figures. In this review, especially the hydrological condition of eastern, north-eastern Mediterranean and İskenderun Bay have been described under the light of oceanographic studies carried out in the region up to date. The reasons for immigration of Lessepsiyen species to the Mediterranean and their invasion routes have been explained. Reasons of a new Scyphomedusae (Rhopilema nomadica) bloom in İskenderun Bay and its possible effects on the regional fisheries and economy have also been discussed.

In this study some ecological studies were carried out on the local populations of Ancylus fluviatilis Müller 1774, from March 1995 to March 1996. Temperature of water, pH, conductivity, oxygen values, structure of ground, faunal and floral features of each localities' were investigated monthly, and as well as the effects of these ecological factors on the distribution of this species, the population density, structure and growth. Also same ecological surveys were realised on the 3 freshwater stations where this species is absent and compared with the other localities.

Reproduction characteristics and fecundity of A. salina living in Tuz Lake were studied during 1995. In Tuz lake no male individuals. It has been detected that parthenogenetic Artemia population consist only female individuals and it reproduces by oviparously. But it is noticed that a few individuals caught in June was reproduced ovoviviparly. In the fecundity analysis it has been determined that increasing total lenght of Artemia, the number of the eggs are also increases and decreases depending on the increase of salt concentration.

According to % GSI and egg diameter, reproduction periot of M. cephalus was determined to be on September and October mounth. Minimum % GSI obtained for M. cephalus was % 4.14 on June mounth and maximum % GSI was % 20.08 on July and % 17.26 on October. Avarage egg diameter of M. cephalus ranged between minimum 0.15 and maximum 0.69 mm. The egg diameters on September and October are 0.69 and 0.65 mm. .

It was determined that age-lenght, age-weigth and length-weigth relationships and condition factors according to age groups of all, male and female of 235 Liza ramada caught from Akgöl- Paradeniz Lagoon. Age composition ranged between I and V age groups. I.age group is the dominant one in all individuals with a rate of 30.64 %. Fork lenght value of Liza ramada ranged between 148 mm. mininimum and 355 mm.maximum. In this study, the feeding behaviours of the new hatched eggs which were laid to the terrarium by one of the 18 Lacerta laevis samples collected from Mersin (Fındıkpınarı) were observed and the development of these eggs over 103 days period were investigated. In conclusion the number of the eggs laid by one of the lizards were six, the mean size of eggs were 8.03 x 12.25 mm. and the mean body length of the young, that were hatched after 47 days, was 77.77 mm. at the first day and was 89.14 mm. at the end of 56 th day.

The Mugil cephalus specimens consist of % 52.33 female and % 46.67 male. Average fork lenght for III.. years age is 293,79 mm. and average weight of them is 31, 47 g.. Maximum annual lenght increase is 62,13 mm. for III. age group and maximum annual weight increase is 263,73 g. for VII. age group were determined.

The organisms in the contents of digestion system from 145 individuals of the brond-snout (Chondrostoma regium Heckel, 1843 Pisces: Cyprinidae) caught from Suat Uğurlu Dam Lake between April, 1993-March, 1994, have been studied by using the number and appearance frequency methods. Consequently, it is determined that 99.92% of the total diet of brond-snout is composed of Bacillariophyta and the 0.08% is of zooplanktons.

Distributions and relative abundances of the Eledone cirrhosa and Eledone moschata species exist in Aegean Sea were analized by considering the seasonal data obtained in bottom trawl between 1991 and 1993. According to these result, it was determined that both species have different distribution features in Aegean Sea, both vertically and horizontally. The effects of malathion on alkaline phosphatase activity in the liver, kidney and small intestine was investigated. Malathion doses of 40 mg kg^{-1} were injected intreperitonally (I:P) into mice. At 0, 4, 8, 16 and 24 hours after treatment with malathion, mice were decapitated and tissues were removed. Homogenate of the tissues was centrifugated at 48000xg for 30 minutes. The supernatant was used as an enzyme source. It was found that the malathion increased alkaline phosphatase activity in the kidney and decreased alkaline phosphatase activity in the liver and small intestine.
