Observations On The Reproduction And Feeding Biology Of Lacerta Laevis (Sauria: Lacertidae) Gray, 1838, Kurtuluş Olgun

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the feeding behaviours of the new hatched eggs which were laid to the terrarium by one of the 18 Lacerta laevis samples collected from Mersin (Fındıkpınarı) were observed and the development of these eggs over 103 days period were investigated. In conclusion the number of the eggs laid by one of the lizards were six, the mean size of eggs were 8.03 x 12.25 mm. and the mean body length of the young, that were hatched after 47 days, was 77.77 mm. at the first day and was 89.14 mm. at the end of 56 th day.

A Study On The Flesh Productivity And Standard Method For Collecting Of Helix Lucorum Linnaeus, 1758, M. Zeki̇ Yildirim, M. Rüştü Özen, Mustafa Ünlüsayin, Hayri̇ Gülyavuz

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study that has been verified at the Eğirdir environs, Helix lucorum which is one of the edible terrestrial snail species in Turkey, and a standard method of collecting snail samples for consumption were investigated. In the area of study, it was observed that individuals begin to reproduce at the second week of February and that they are spawninig during March-May when the climate is mild. It was also determined that the minimum shell length of individuals is 22 mm, and that shell diameter is 31 mm, and that weight is 10 g which were measured during reproducing period. …

Monitoring And Comparing Follicular And Luteal Function Betweengenetically High- And Low-Producing Dairy Cows By Ultrasonography, Şükrü Meti̇n Pancarci Jan 1999

Monitoring And Comparing Follicular And Luteal Function Betweengenetically High- And Low-Producing Dairy Cows By Ultrasonography, Şükrü Meti̇n Pancarci

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The objectives of this study were to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasonography in monitoring ovarian activity by examining follicular growth and regression and studying the correlation between corpus luteum (CL) measurements and plasma progesterone (P4) concentrations, and to compare high-and low-production genetic lines of dairy cows regarding endogenous bovine somatotropin (bST) and milk production effects on follicular wave patterns, size and number of follicles, CL growth and plasma P4 concentrations during the estrous cycle monitored by ultrasound. Seventeen multiparous lactating Holstein cows were divided into two groups, a low-production group (control group, n=9) and a high-production group (select group, n=8). …

The Investigation Of Some Reproduction Characteristics Of The Alburnoides Bipunctatus Fasciatis (Nordman, 1840) Living In Oltu Stream, Çoruh Basin, Ayhan Yildirim, Orhan Erdoğan, Mustafa Türkmen, Bedri̇ Cemal Demi̇r Jan 1999

The Investigation Of Some Reproduction Characteristics Of The Alburnoides Bipunctatus Fasciatis (Nordman, 1840) Living In Oltu Stream, Çoruh Basin, Ayhan Yildirim, Orhan Erdoğan, Mustafa Türkmen, Bedri̇ Cemal Demi̇r

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

LIn this study, the age and season of reproduction, and fecundity of Alburnoide bipunctatus fasciatis caught from Oltu Stream between August 1995 and July 1996 were investigated. Both males and females reached at sexual mature at the age of two. In the Oltu Stream, the Alburnoides bipunctatus fasciatis began to spawn at the end of May when water temperature was 16 °C and the spawning continued to the end of the July when water temperature was 25°C. The mean individual and relative fecundity were determined as 13135±1107 eggs/female and 707700±52129 eggs/female respectively. The fecundity-fork length, fecundity-total weight and fecundity-age relationships …

Ecology And Biology Of Allactaga Elater, Allactaga Euphratica Andallactaga Williamsi (Rodentia: Dipodidae) In Turkey, Ercüment Çolak, Nuri Yi̇ği̇t

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The young of Allactaga williamsi and Allactaga euphratica were born at an average weigth of 2.51 and 2.74 g., respectively. Litter size ranged from 3 to 6 with an average of 4.8 in A. williamsi, and it changed from 4 to 8 with an average of 4.8 in A. euphratica , A. williamsi breeds during the period of March to August, A. williamsi and A. euphratica produced 2 and 2 or 3 litters per year, respectively. Allactaga elater has four types of burrows: winter, summer, reproduction and temporary. A. williamsi and A. euphratica have two types of burrows: reproduction and …

An Investigation On The Reproduction Properties Of Chub ( Leuciscus Cephalusl., 1758) In Lake Tödürge (Zara/Sivas)*, Bülent Ünver

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the reproductive properties of the chub population ( Leuciscus cephalusL., 1758) in lake Tödürge, Zara/Sivas, were investigated. A total of 674 specimens were caught between April and November 1994. The age and sex distributions and the age of sexual maturity were determined. The reproduction period of the population was determined. Fecundity was determined and the relationships between the fecundity and body weight, length and age were investigated. The age composition of specimens of the population consisting of 68.25% female and 31.75% male, was found to be between I and VII. Males reached maturity in their second or …
