The purpose of this project was to create training modules for the Cal Poly Dairy. The author’s goal was to incorporate the safety aspect of dairy work into the modules as well. To properly obtain all the necessary information for the modules, the author first had to compile lists from the Cal Poly Dairy’s written standard operating procedures. From here, the majority of time was used to gather video and picture content using a surface tablet that would later be used in the online modules. With the development of an agricultural activity book for the kindergarten level, the authors have selected the top commodities produced in Shasta County and have directly applied them to Next Generation Science Standards. The reasoning behind creating a parallel between science lessons and a students’ immediate environment is to allow teachers to utilize their allotted time for teaching for state-mandated subjects while appointing agricultural topics as a vehicle for understanding these lessons.

In January, 2019 the author created a template in Adobe InDesign to input information to be gathered from professors. The intent of the template was to display relevant information to help students learn more about their future faculty: hometown, areas of research, industry/teaching experience, alma maters, among other information (email address, office location, and office phone number). Every year, many students enroll into the Agricultural Education and Communication (AGED) Department and more specifically, the Agricultural Science major. Some of those students assume Agricultural Science is the same as the Crop Science major while hoping to obtain a Pest Control Advisor’s (PCA) license. While it is possible to satisfy the requirements to take the PCA exam through the Agricultural Science major, many students need to piece together their schedule each quarter until they graduate. For ten years the Ryan Family has been growing seven acres of Merlot grapes on their property in the Napa Valley. One block of grapes is located on the side of a dam of a small pond in the middle of the property. This block of grapes contains many diseased plants with low crop yields. The Wine Stone Inn is a new 12-room boutique hotel currently being built in Old Town Orcutt, California. The hotel is seeking a grand opening that will attract vintner business, agribusiness, and agricultural vendors for the hotel, and help promote local wineries and breweries in the Santa Maria Valley. Orcutt is a growing township, which is becoming very attractive to visitors because of the walking distance to restaurants, local pubs, wine venues, and other businesses that project growth in the future.
