Irrigation and Melioration
This article describes the technological features of the reduction of technical varieties of cotton. Requirements for technical seeds in the processing of raw cotton are technical specifications and quality indicators. Seeds of technical cotton with quality indicators and adapted technical seeds must meet the requirements of technical conditions. The technical need for coated seeds should correspond to technical characteristics, such as reducing production costs, reducing moisture, long-term storage, improving quality, thermal conductivity, aerodynamic resistance, and heat resistance. From the point of view of heat treatment of seeds, parameters taking into account their thermophysical properties should be used to justify the …

Regulations Of Hydraulic Resistance Of Machine Channels Of Pumping Stations, D.R. Bazarov, B.R. Uralov, M.P. Tashkhanova
Irrigation and Melioration
The paper considers the general equation of fluid motion in the channels and the functional dependences of the hydraulic friction coefficient on the Reynolds number, relative roughness, and on the shape of the live section of the channel. Resistance formulas are given for the simplest cross-sectional shapes of channels and for channels with a more complex cross-sectional shape. To take into account the effect (on the pressure loss) of the channel cross-sectional shape and the presence of a flow with a free surface in it, additional correction factors are introduced (using the hydraulic radius concept) and be clarified as a …

Comparison Of Fixed-Wing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Uas) For Agriculture Monitoring, Joseph Cerreta, Kristine M. Kiernan
Comparison Of Fixed-Wing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Uas) For Agriculture Monitoring, Joseph Cerreta, Kristine M. Kiernan
International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
Florida citrus growers need inexpensive methods to observe citrus plants to detect disease and stress consistently. Health vegetation indices, such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) collected from Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), can be used to identify variation in plant health. Simple-to-operate UAS may enable growers to determine within-field variation more frequently than with inspections from scouts, providing more frequent knowledge about the crop condition. This research compared two low-cost fixed-wing UAS, a $5,000 Parrot Disco Pro Ag and a $16,690 senseFly eBee, each equipped with a Parrot Sequoia multispectral camera, to determine if there were differences in the …
Classifying Interdependencies In The Food And Agriculture Critical Infrastructure Sector, John Doerpinghaus
Classifying Interdependencies In The Food And Agriculture Critical Infrastructure Sector, John Doerpinghaus
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This work classifies examples of infrastructure interdependencies found in the food and agriculture critical infrastructure sector. Interdependencies are identified through an examination of rice and poultry agriculture throughout the state of Arkansas. The subtleties of interdependence examples in the food and agriculture sector are inadequately captured by the well-studied interdependence classification taxonomies. Through 39 interviews, we develop an understanding of the subtle temporal, geographic, and productivity scales of interdependence in over 100 examples and present five new, distinct classifications of interdependence: (1) dynamic physical, (2) dynamic geographic, (3) deadline, (4) delay, and (5) human, economic, and natural resource interdependencies. An …

Radical Social Ecology As Deep Pragmatism: A Call To The Abolition Of Systemic Dissonance And The Minimization Of Entropic Chaos, Arielle Brender
Student Theses 2015-Present
This paper aims to shed light on the dissonance caused by the superimposition of Dominant Human Systems on Natural Systems. I highlight the synthetic nature of Dominant Human Systems as egoic and linguistic phenomenon manufactured by a mere portion of the human population, which renders them inherently oppressive unto peoples and landscapes whose wisdom were barred from the design process. In pursuing a radical pragmatic approach to mending the simultaneous oppression and destruction of the human being and the earth, I highlight the necessity of minimizing entropic chaos caused by excess energy expenditure, an essential feature of systems that aim …
