Detection Of A New Medium For Budwood Culture In Vitro Of Citrus, Gülşen Şaş Sertkaya, Ahmet Çinar
Detection Of A New Medium For Budwood Culture In Vitro Of Citrus, Gülşen Şaş Sertkaya, Ahmet Çinar
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The transfer of new and quality citrus species and cultivars from one country or growing area to another may lead to the introduction of new pests and diseases. Therefore the import and direct production of citrus budwood without adequate control measures has a high risk. The citrus virus and virus-like disease agents can be successfully eliminated using the shoot-tip grafting (STG) technique which is routinely used to obtain virus-free plants in citrus improvement programs in major citrus-growing countries. Many methods are used to obtain flushes as a source of scion material for STG in vitro. The budwood culture in vitro …

A colluvial soil was also used for comparison. Iron was applied at 0, 10 and 20 ppm Fe in the forms Fe-EDDHA, FeSO_4.7H_2O and Fe-EDDHA + FeSO_4.7H_2O (1:1 ratio). Zinc was applied at 0, 10 and 20 ppm Zn in the form ZnCl_2. The plants were harvested after six weeks of growth in …

A Study Of Some Agronomical Characteristics Of Synthetic Varieties Obtained From Inbred Lines Of Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus L.), Abdurrahi̇m Tanju Göksoy
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Some agronomical characteristics of newly improved synthetic sunflower varieties were investigated during the years 1994 and 1995 at Uludağ University, in the Faculty of Agriculture, Field-Crops Department. 12 inbred lines considered suitable for combination were separated into three different mixtures producing the synthetic lines Syn-O(A), Syn-O(B) and Syn-O(C), each containing 4 different inbred lines. Synthetic 1(A), Synthetic-1(B) and Synthetic-1(C) were obtained from open pollination of these 3 mixtures of synthetic lines in the first year of research. In addition, Synthetic-1(D) was formed by open pollination of all the inbred lines (Syn-O(D)). In the second year, four synthetic varieties, four different …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Samples from 8 widespread soil series from Adıyaman Çamgazi Plain were equilibriated at a constant temperature with 16 different solutions containing 0 to 50 \mug/ml phosphorus in batch-type experiments. The phosphorus concentrations of the equilibrium solutions and the amounts of phosphorus adsorbed by the soils at these concentrations were determined. These phosphorus-adsorption data were evaluated statistically for their suitability for adsorption isotherms in various concentration ranges.

This study was conducted to determine annual variations in the below- and above-ground biomass, root/stem, stem, leaf and flower ratios of crested wheatgrass, subalpine brome, sheep fescue, junegrass, needlegrass, hybrid alfalfa and cat thyme. The specimens were collected during the growing season of 1994 from protected rangelands in Erzurum area. Plant height increased slowly at the onset of growth, accelerated in the middle of a growth stage and levelled off after the blossom stage. The accumulation of below- and above-ground biomass was similar to the trend of growth in plant height. Root/stem rations were highest at the beginning of the …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Two year-old nursery stocks of Anatolian black pine (Pinus nigra Arnold subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe) from nine provenances were examined for morphological properties such as height, root collar diameter, sturdiness and shoot: root ratio. The stocks were grown in the Eskişehir, Eğirdir and Seydişehir forest nurseries in semi-arid sites in Turkey. It was found that all of the seedlings grown in Eğirdir were substandard but, the ones grown in Eskişehir and Seydişehir met the criteria of the Turkish Standards Institute (TS 2265 / February 1988). According to the seedling quality criteria of the Eurepean Community (EC), while all of the …
