In this study Drechslera sorokiniana incidence was determined on subcrown internod and crowns of wheat and barley samples collected from Erzurum region in 1994 and 1995. Mycelial development and sporulation were investigated in the laboratory in 3 light periods and 4 agar media. Furthermore, pathogenicity tests were carried out in greenhouse on five wheat cultivars in pots. Under the field conditions, the mean percentages of disease ratios were found 46.8 % in wheat, and 51.1 % in barley in 1994; 48.9 % in wheat and 54.3 % in barley in 1995. Some physical and chemical properties of kidney fat (obtained from cattle) and tail fat (obtained from sheep) were determined in this study. Effects of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and BHT+BHA on free fatty acids (FFA) contents, thiobarbituric acid (TBA) values and peroxide number were also examined during frozen storage at -18°C for 9 months. Development Of The Downy Mildew Pathogen Bremia Lactucae Ontransgenic Lettuce Expressing A Bacterial \Beta-1,3-Glucanase, Yeter Dede

A \beta-1,3-glucanase gene from Arthrobacter sp. driven by the 35S promoter was singly transformed into two lettuce cultivars, Cobham Gree and Diana, using the binary vector system of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Tansformation was confirmed by using Southern and Northern analysis, Npt II enzyme assays and segregation of resistance to kanamycin. Transgenic plants were infected with the letuce downy mildew fungus, Bremia lactucae which contains \beta-1,3-gluncan in its cell wall and alternations in the development the fungus could easily be monitored. Transgenic plants inoculated with B. lactucae showed different levels of resistant responses compared to the control and they were examined microscopically.

Field evalutaions of wing traps baited with disparlure, Z-7,8-epoxy-2-methyloctadecane, were done in 1989, in Izmit-Isıktepe, Turkey, Wing traps with used and never used sticky inserts were used. Study was conducted in a 5 ha oak ( Quercus pe-treae (Matt.) Liebl. stand surrounded by 25-year-old radiata pine ( Pinus radiata D. Don.) plantations. Traps were hung 1.5-2.0 m above the ground in host trees, and 50-60 m apart from each other. A total of 1177 male moths were captured in 18 traps from June 12 to August 14, 1989. This study was conducted in order to investigte the effect of field emergence levels with and without thinning on the root yield and quality of sugarbeet (cv. Eva) on the Experimental Farm of Turkish Sugar Factories Corporation in Pasinler Plateau (Erzurum) in 1992 and 1993. In this research, a total of 48 Pseudomonas had been isolated using PseudomonasCN and CFC Agar, Pseudomonas P(King A) and PseudomonasF(King B) and Crystal Violet Tetrazolium Agar (CVT) from 200 raw milk samples. The National Eutrophication Management Program (NEMP) and Environment Australia convened a workshop to develop a coherent overview of the sources and transport of diffuse phosphorus in Australian catchments based on the latest knowledge. The Land and Water Resources Research and Development Corporation (LWRRDC) and the Murray–Darling Basin Commission (MDBC) jointly fund NEMP. A select group of scientists attended the workshop and developed a coherent statement about phosphorus sources and transport in Australian catchments. The aim of this selection research was to determine the having large fruits and high yielded of cornelian cherries ( Cornus mas L.) grown in Çoruh valley during 1994-1995. This experiment was carried out to propagate some seedless grape cultivars through embryo culture. Berry samples of Perlette, Flame Seedless, Sultani çekirdeksiz, Pembe çekirdeksiz, 2B-56 and King's Ruby were taken once a week between 3rd and 8th weeks after full blooming. The effects of media (MS, Nitsch and E20A) were observed on the germination of ovule and embryos. Forecasting Of The Long-Term Allowable Cut For The Akçasu Forestry Enterprise, Altay Uğur Gül

The long-term allowable cut was ensured using data of Forest Menegement Plan of the Akçasu Forest enterprise. In addition, actuel forest state was approximated to an optimal forest state within different rotation age. Three forest management units were established. A linear programming model was developed on used to test three different strategies for the black pine and beech management unit and five different strategies for the oak management unit. For the first period, the regeneration, afforestation area, allowable cut and total cut was 210.0 and 341.0 hectar, 58546.0 m 3 and 1764516 m 3 , respectively.

Dependence of test-crosses on the inbred lines and similarity of the inbred line groups with their testcross groups were examined. In this research, the length and diameter development of 4 apricot forms on seedling rootstocks with one and two development of 4 apricot forms seedling rootstocks with one and two years old were ihvestigated. The length and diameter development on one year old rootstocks were 88.42 cm, 8.87 mm; on two year old rootstocks were 114.17 cm, 11.52 mm, respectively. There were signigicant differences between forms and rootstocks as well.
