Effects Of Isofluran On Cardiac Performance In Dogs With Experimental Acute Hemorrhagic, Utku Bakirel, Yücel Meral, Abdullah Kayar, Tarik Bi̇lal, Oktay Düzgün

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effects of isofluran on cardiac performance in dogs with experimental acute hemorrhagic anemia (AHA) were inves-tigated. A local anesthetic agent was administered to dogs in the control group (=2) and isofluran to dogs in the experimental group (n=6). Left ventricle systolic and diastolic blood pressure with filling and ejection time before and 15 min after AHA were deter-mined in all dogs. While left ventricle systolic blood pressure decreased (from 114±3 mm/Hg to 54±4 mm/Hg) and diastolic blood pressure decreased (from 88±6 mm/Hg to 40±2 mm/Hg), filling time increased (from 0.16±0.025 mm/sec to 0.40±0.065 mm/sec, p

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to evaluate heavy metal levels in mussels ( Unio stevenianus Krynicki) obtained from Van Lake. A total of 120 samples representing each of the four seasons was collected between 01.01.1994 and 01.01.1995. The organic parts of the samples were ashed with a mixture of magnesium oxide and magnesium nitrate according to the dry ashing method and arsenic residues were measured by silver diethyldithyocarbamate in UV spectrophotometer; copper, cadmium, zinc and lead levels were also determined using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. In the analysis of the 120 samples for residues of heavy mettals, the average …

The Lysosomal Enzyme Activities Of Fresh, Cooled, Frozen And Smoked Salmon Fish Species (Onchorhyncus Keta And Salmo Salar), Hartmut Rehbein, Şükran Çakli

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Frozen-thawed fish and fillets are being marketed as fresh fish fillets. One of the methods which helps us to differentiate unfrozen from frozen-thawed fish fillet is the enzymatic method. By means of the freezing and thawing process lysosomal enzymes are released. Lysosomal enzyme activities have the enzymes which decompose protein, carbohydrate, fat and nucleic acids. In this research, fresh, stored in ice, frozen and smoked salmon fish (Onchorhyncus ketaand Salmo salar) have been used. In press juice and in extracts of these fish a muscle lysosomal enzyme \alpha-Glucosidase (E.C. 3.2.1.20) in activitation quantities was detected. The lysosomal enzyme activities of …

Evaluation Of Immunogenicity Of Pasterurella Haemolytica Serotypes In Experimental Models, K. Serdar Di̇ker, Mehmet Akan, Osman Kaya

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The immunogenicity of Pasteurella haemolyticaserotypes was investigated in an experimental animal model. Rabbits were immunized with bacterins and leukotoxins of selected serotypes of P. haemolytica, and the IgG level and antileukotoxin activities of immune sera were measured. The highest IgG levels against A1, A2, A7 and T4 antigens were detected in rabbits receiving polyvalent combined (bacterin plus leukotoxin) immunogens. Monovalent combined immunogens induced high antibody titers against homologous serotypes, but low titers against heterologous serotypes. Serotype A1 and A7 were found to be more antigenic than A2 and T4. The highest antileukotoxin activity in monovalent groups was detected in A1 and …

Determination Of Freshness And Chemical Compositon Of Scad ( Trachurus Trachurus, L. 1758) Stored In Refrigerator, Gülgün F. Ünal Şengör, Ufuk Çeli̇k, Sevi̇lsen Akkuş Jan 2000

Determination Of Freshness And Chemical Compositon Of Scad ( Trachurus Trachurus, L. 1758) Stored In Refrigerator, Gülgün F. Ünal Şengör, Ufuk Çeli̇k, Sevi̇lsen Akkuş

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to determine the freshness and chemical composition of scad stored at +2C - +4°C. As a result of bacterial activities and chemical changes in fish meat TMAO breaks down to TMA, DMA and FA. In the fish meat the amounts of these compounds are important for the determination of the freshness of fish meat. Breakdown of TMAO into DMA and FA has an effect on the properties of the texture of the fish. Hence we attempted to distinguish the textural characteristics of the stored fish with sensorial analysis. It was detected that the results of …

Using Goal Programming In Rational And Economical Animal Nutrition, İsmet Doğan, Nurhan Doğan, Abdulkadi̇r Akcan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Animal nutrition is one of the important problems of people involved in animal breeding. It is essential that animals get sufficient and well-balanced nutrition to be healthy. Especially obtaining the necessary food elements from cheaper food sources becomes a major concern when ensuring sufficient and well-balanced nutrition in animal breeding. The Goal Programming Method is an improved method for solving multi-objective problems. In solving these types of problem, it cannot be expected that all the goals can be exactly obtained. The results of multi-objective problem solutions are affected by the decision of the manager or decision maker. Therefore, when there …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effect of halothane anesthesia in different doses and a period of two weeks on glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) activity of mouse liver were investigated. The mean and SD of G6PDH for liver of normal mice were 0.036±0.017 U/mg protein and 1.756±0.814 U/g liver, respectively. Although there was histopathological damage in the liver, liver weights in treated mice increased significantly compared to control animals. Increasing the dosage of halothane inhalation induced liver G6PDH enzyme activity (U/g liver) by 84%, 42% and 4%, showing an inverse relation with the dose of halothane (0.25, 0.50, 1.00 cc twice daily for two weeks). Although …

Study Of Interphases Betweensubunits Of Human Serum Albumin By Tritiumlabelling Method, Elimchan S. Dzhafarov

Turkish Journal of Biology

For the purpose of obtaining information about interphases between subunits of human serum albumin (HSA), a new tritium labelling method was adopted. The existence of linear dependence between accessible surface of amino acid residues and their specific radio-activity enabled to obtain information about qualitattive and quantitative amino acid composition of surface layer of protein globule and its large fragments. It is shown that the fragments surface characterized by higher accessibility of hydrophobic amino acid residues such as Ala, Val, Leu, Ile, Pro and Phe. Moreover Lys, Asx and Glx demonstrate high accessibility also. It is supposed that the spatial HSA …

Turkish Journal of Biology

In the endometrium preparing for pregnancy, the stromal matrix components of the cells and their products begin structural differentiation due to endometrial receptivity. According to the hypothesis that 'extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins and adhesion molecules take roles in the structural differentiation as a result of endometrial decidualization', our aim was to determine the roles of ECM molecules laminin, fibronectin and adhesion proteins integrin \alpha5 and \beta4 in the decidulization and implantation by examining the emergence and changing distribution of these proteins. In this study, five experimental groups, consisting of 40 pregnant animals on pregnancy days 4-8, were used. Paraffin tissue …
