In this study, aroma compounds of the wines obtained from white Emir grapes grown in Nevşehir-Ürgüp region by spontanous fermentation and by use of pure culture of "Saccharomyces cerevisiae-K1" were investigated. Aroma compounds were extracted by Amberlit XAD-2 resin and were eluted by pentan/dichloromethane (2/1) solvent and then analysed by gas chromatography and identified by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A comparison of the aroma compounds of the wines obtained by spontanous fermentation and by use of pure culture showed that the latter contained higher amount of high alcohols and carbonyl compounds, and lower amount of volatile phenols, esters being …

Examining Statistical Sufficiency Of Rainfall Intensities At Standard Times Of Adana, Ali̇ Yücel, Fati̇h Topaloğlu, Kazim Tülücü
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Hydrological and meteorological events are effected from different factors. Their values in future can only be determined by probability and statistical laws because rainfall intensities at standard time occurring under different eftects are random character. However, these values not being random character can not be used in their present situation in system simulation, frequency analysis, watershed amelioration, drainage studies, urban settlement planning, etc. In this study, it is aimed to examine some statistical analysis techniques thought to be helpful in deciding sufficiency of rainfall intensities at standard times in studies in questions. Depending on this aim, 14 rainfall intensities at …

The Determination Of The Importance Of The Forestry Sector In National Economy Using Input-Output Analysis, Mustafa Fehmi̇ Türker
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Input-output Models are used for analysing inter - industry structure. These models show analitically the economic structure of a country and the relations of sectors with each other in a national economy. Furthermore, input-output models play an important role in solving such economic problems of sectors as production, income and employment. In this study, production, value added import, export and forward and backward linkages of the forestry sector in a national economy consisting of 64 sectors are calculated. In addition, production, income and employment multipliers are also examined. The main objective of this study is to make an economic analysis …

In order to determine the effect of bleaching conditions on the physical and optical properties of pulps during the bleaching of CTMP with H_2O_2, 48 bleaching trials were carried out. After the analysis of the data obtained, the optimum bleaching conditions were as follows: H_2O_2 ratio 2.5-3%, Na_2SiO_3 ratio 3%, NaOH ratio 3%, NaOH/H_2O_2 ratio 0.75, MgSO_4 rate 0.5%, reaction temperature 70ºC, EDTA rate 0.5%, reaction time 80 minutes and concentration 16%. Brightness, breaking length, burst and tear index of CTMP bleached with H_2O_2 were found to be 51.42%, 18.03%, 92.50% and 13.20% respectively, higher than those of unbleached CTMP.

Modelling Of Cross - Section And Frame Optimization For Chair Design, Yalçin Örs, Mustafa Altinok
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, the effect of diagonal static loads on wooden joints in the production of solid wooden chairs was examined. According to the principle of equal moment distribution, the optimum chair frame and minimum required cross-section components were determined by considering the stresses on joints. Therefore, the location of the bottom frame component was optimized on the most critical sitting position of the chair. According to the diagonal load applied, the performance of the joint construction was determined by testing on the position. In the preparation of samples for testing, first class beech and scotch pine were selected, while …

Effect Of Fallow, Winter Lentil, Nitrogen Fertilization And Different Soil Tillage On Wheat Yield In The Dryfarming Areas Of Central Anatolia, Di̇dar Eser, M. Sai̇t Adak, Andreas Biesantz
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This research was carried out in two different dryfarming areas of Central Anatolia (Haymana-Ankara and Gözlü-Konya) to detect the effect of fallow and winter lentil and different tillage systems on wheat yields. According to experimental results of two crop rotation cycles, wheat yields after fallow or after lentil respectively, were in the same statistical group (i.e. no significant difference), in spite of a neglectible reduction of yield after lentil in comparison to wheat yield after fallow in Haymana. In this case it could be proved that sowing of winter lentil was more profitable instead of implementing fallow before wheat. In …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The effect of endogenous plant hormones on alternate-bearing, an important factor in olive growing, was investigated. Memecik and Tavşan Türeği olive cultivars were used. Leaf, bud, shoot tip and fruit samples were taken monthly during fruiting and non-fruiting periods for two years. Changes in ABA, GA_3 and IAA were found and the effect of these hormones on the initiation of budding was determined. The results of the experiment showed that there were statistically important significances in the content of ABA, GA_3 and IAA at 5% level. ABA and GA_3 have a direct role in the initiation of flower budding while …

For this purpose, experimental soil was salinized with 68 mmol/kg NaCl. The salinity responses of the maize varieties were compared by means of various plant parameters. According to the results, Kelty, Post-KLF, Postkontrol and G-4662 Dracma were seen to be more susceptible to salinity than the others. Under salinity stress, the dry matter yield of those varieties was influenced much less than the others and the Na and Cl content was generally found to be …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purpose of this study was to generate monthly areal rainfall depths in the Tarsus Plain using geostatistical techniques, and to determine the stochastic structure of areal rainfall series generated geostatistically. Data were obtained from rainfall observation stations located in the eastern Mediterranean region and the surrounding areas. Monthly spatial dependence structures of rainfall depths at the observed points were depicted using a spherical semivariogram model. The areal rainfall series was estimated using block kriging procedure. The trend, periodic and stochastic components of that series were tested statistically and modeled stochastically. Monthly areal rainfall depth-recurrence interval curves were developed for …

Investigations On A Frost Hollow, İdri̇s Oğurlu, Mustafa Avci
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The study area, in Isparta-Pürenova, is covered by a plantation with seven-year-old Anatolian Black Pine Pinus nigra and Lebanon Cedar Cedrus libani trees. In the plantation which is subject to frost damage, there are widely failed planting patches. Since it has known that the fact that the area is a frost hole is the cause for failing with planting, in the study, effects of frost on different parts of the area and on both tree species were observed. For the purpose, several observations and measurings were carried out on transects covered failed areas as well as partly and fully successfull …
