Abstract: To improve the electricity supply-demand situation by rationally utilizing demand response resources, a two-layer optimal scheduling model for virtual power plants (VPPs) based on the analysis and forecasting of heterogeneous load characteristics was proposed. With the differences in response characteristics of multi-type loads considered, a demand response model for multi-type loads was constructed by using a customer baseline load (CBL) curve forecasting method that integrated dynamic scenario generation and K-means++ clustering. Abstract: To address the issue of tower vibrations induced by wind loads, which can damage the structure of wind turbines, a vibration control method for monopile offshore wind turbine towers based on an eddy current-nonlinear energy sink (EC-NES) was proposed. The dynamic model of monopile offshore wind turbines based on EC-NES was constructed according to the Euler-Lagrange equation, and based on the output response of FAST software, the unknown parameters of the model and the wind loads were identified in terms of parameters. Abstract: To study the network equilibrium problem of dual-channel supply chains under the background of retailers' risk aversion, a dual-channel supply chain network equilibrium model including multiple competitive suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and demand markets was established. The Mean-CVaR method was employed to quantify retailers' risk aversion characteristics, and variational inequalities were utilized to characterize the equilibrium conditions of decision-makers at each tier of the supply chain. Abstract: To address complex automotive after-sales parts supply network operations with insufficient demand forecasting accuracy, slow response, and low service efficiency, this study proposed a spatiotemporal graph convolution-based method for automotive parts supply chain demand forecasting. Sales network data of the automotive parts sales network was constructed as a heterogeneous graph, integrating node features like parts sales volume and value to build multi-dimensional node dependencies. Abstract: Traditional source search algorithms are prone to local optimization, and source search methods combining crowdsourcing and human-AI collaboration suffer from low cost-efficiency due to human intervention. In this study, we proposed a lightweight human-AI collaboration framework that utilized multi-modal large language models (MLLMs) to achieve visual-language conversion, combined chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning to optimize decision-making, and constructed a heuristic strategy that incorporated probability distribution filtering and a balance between exploitation and exploration. Abstract: To address the cooperative interference allocation of jamming tasks, a cooperative interference allocation method of jamming resources was proposed based on the improved genetic algorithm. Tactile perception is significant for robotic operation in unstructured environments. Whisker-based sensors offer lightweight bio-inspired solutions, yet most rely on single-whisker sensing and are limited by passive interaction and constrained functionality. Here we present a circular array of eight independently actuated whiskers, each driven by a pulse-switchable permanent magnet and tracked by a camera. This design enables simultaneous multi-point sensing and coordinated actuation, supporting diverse functions. Quantitative analyses demonstrate accurate pixel-to-physical mapping, consistent pixel-to-force characterization, and long-term repeatability. Autonomous vehicle (AV) development has seen a sharp increase in the past 10 years, and there is a significant energy cost of training AVs to meet safety regulations. The training process includes virtual simulation training as well as physical training on public roads and within private testing facilities. The high energy expenditure associated with AV training has a respective environmental cost that can be quantified as a lifetime “carbon debt” of released carbon emissions. Feature selection is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency of credit scoring predictions, where misclassifications are critical because they can result in financial losses for lenders and exclusion of eligible borrowers. While traditional feature selection methods can improve accuracy and class separation, they often struggle to maintain consistent performance aligned with institutional preferences across datasets of varying size and imbalance. This study introduces a FastTree-Guided Genetic Algorithm (FT-GA) that combines gradient-boosted learning with evolutionary optimization to prioritize class separability and minimize falserisk exposure. The Fitness for Service (FFS) analysis is performed as a quantitative assessment to evaluate the integrity condition of a pipeline. Essentially, FFS assessment helps determine whether equipment components can operate safely despite existing deficiencies. This evaluation is carried out using the Finite Element Method (FEM). In the case of an underwater pipeline that experiences leak due to anchor pull at the flange connection, it undergoes plastic deformation and is lifted approximately 1 meter. The increasing demand for sustainable practices in the metal casting industry has driven the use of recycled aluminum alloys such as ADC12. However, the addition of aluminum scrap tends to increase oxide inclusions, which reduce melt fluidity and compromise casting quality. This study utilizes the Inclusion and Fluidity Measurement Instrument (IFMI), equipped with mullite ceramic filters, to assess the melt quality of ADC12 aluminum alloy containing 30% scrap. Fluidity and inclusion characteristics were evaluated at five pouring temperatures (660°C, 680°C, 700°C, 720°C, and 740°C). This research investigates the production decline and cost increase in the X&Y oil and gas fields from 2022 to 2023. Production fell by 34%, while production costs per barrel rose by 79%. To address these issues, a series of optimization processes are proposed. These aim to restructure and enhance the production facilities to reduce current production costs. The optimizations include reducing pressure at the PPP Platform in 2024. This study investigates the potential of ceramic membranes derived from areca nut fiber as a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable material for the removal of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) from groundwater. Two types of membranes were fabricated: one without activation and one chemically activated using 10% sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The morphological and elemental characteristics of both membranes were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) mapping. The concentrations of Fe and Mn before and after treatment were measured using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). This study focuses on assessing the impact of incorporating systems integrated with in the workplace by assessing the constructs of usability, cognitive load, and trust. The constructs are assessed by generation and experience level to determine which factors are relevant in a workplace setting. A workplace scenario was simulated by asking participants to complete tasks where they assumed the role of a warehouse manager assigned with assessing two scheduling systems – one with artificial intelligence and one without artificial intelligence. The management of municipal solid waste (MSW) in swiftly urbanizing Philippine cities has emerged as a critical concern in both energy and governance. Dependence on landfills is approaching critical thresholds as disposal sites near saturation, transportation costs escalate, and host communities increasingly resist garbage transfers. In response, this study proposes a comprehensive Waste-to-Energy (WtE) assessment framework that integrates engineering evaluation with policy and stakeholder analysis to support sustainable decision- making.

Traditional infrastructure systems are often designed for predictable scenarios, making them vulnerable to disruption when real-world conditions change unexpectedly. This research addresses that limitation by introducing Kinship Infrastructure Design (KID), a bioinspired framework based on the kinship coefficient (Φ). Adapted from studies of genetic relatedness in eusocial insects, the kinship coefficient (Φ) measures similarity and diversity among system components by calculating the degree to which their functional traits—encoded as a synthetic genome—match. This research investigates whether a system design can achieve a “Goldilocks Zone” of functional diversity where systems achieve optimal adaptability and coordination under uncertainty."

This study examined the significance of the relationship between leader-member exchange (LMX) and psychological contracts in United States-based research organizations. When the organization-manager-employee relationship deteriorates, psychological contract breaches can occur, negatively affecting employee outcomes and the organization's financial success and stability. In this dissertation, we consider three types of network optimization problems. In Chapter 1, we consider a network maintenance problem which focuses on time-based redeployment of multi-class nodes for reliable wireless sensor network coverage. Whereas previous research on time-based node redeployment assumes nodes are identical with respect to time to failure, we use multiple classes of sensor nodes to represent a scenario where nodes’ times to failure are dependent on positioning in the network. Fluid-based manufacturing processes, such as inkjet printing and electrospinning, fabricate micro- and nano-scale structures with high precision, but are prone to complex fluid dynamics exhibiting axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric instabilities. Conventional monitoring often relies on single-camera inputs and symmetry assumptions, limiting the detection of three-dimensional anomalies like jet deflection. This study presents a novel multi-view streaming video-based anomaly detection framework to address this gap. Coal mining accidents are a major concern worldwide, necessitating effective safety measures and comprehensive analysis to prevent future accidents. Our proposed solution is the first attempt for Indian mines, inspired by the potential of Natural Language Processing (NLP) that can read and analyze vast repositories of accident records in seconds. The handling of municipal solid waste (MSW) in swiftly urbanizing Philippine cities poses intricate energy and governance challenges. In Baguio City, reliance on landfills has reached critical levels due to diminishing capacity, rising transport costs, and opposition to trash transfers by nearby LGUs.
