Skintronics: Wireless, Skin-Wearable Electronics For Monitoring Of Electrocardiogram, Matthew B. Piper, Woon-Hong Yeo, Yongkuk Lee

Undergraduate Research Posters

The ECGs I micro-fabricate are designed to be flexible, stretchable and wireless circuits that can be applied to the skin directly. The device is encased in a conformal, silicon-like substrate, that allows the ECG to be attached with the electrodes. Each electrode has been previously measured and verified that it will be correctly placed for an accurate reading. Prototyping this ECG/electrode device allows the user to mount the prototype directly to the patient without having to attach and wire ten other electrodes. This prototype solves the issue that comes about when a doctor, nurse or emergency medical technician must attach …

Developing A Low-Cost Force Treadmill Via Dynamic Modeling, Chih-Yuan Hong, Lan-Yuen Guo, Rong Song, Mark L. Nagurka, Jia-Li Sung, Chen-Wen Yen

Mechanical Engineering Faculty Research and Publications

By incorporating force transducers into treadmills, force platform-instrumented treadmills (commonly called force treadmills) can collect large amounts of gait data and enable the ground reaction force (GRF) to be calculated. However, the high cost of force treadmills has limited their adoption. This paper proposes a low-cost force treadmill system with force sensors installed underneath a standard exercise treadmill. It identifies and compensates for the force transmission dynamics from the actual GRF applied on the treadmill track surface to the force transmitted to the force sensors underneath the treadmill body. This study also proposes a testing procedure to assess the GRF …

Microstructure And Mechanical Properties Of Sputter-Deposited Nanocrystalline W1-Ymoyo3 Thin Films, Gabriel Lopez Jan 2017

Microstructure And Mechanical Properties Of Sputter-Deposited Nanocrystalline W1-Ymoyo3 Thin Films, Gabriel Lopez

Open Access Theses & Dissertations

Currently, there is a wide-spread interest in the design and development of indium (In) free transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) for utilization in photovoltaics and optoelectronics. Tungsten oxide (WO3)-based materials are being explored for their utilization in solar cells, photo-electrochemical cells (PECs), electrochromic (EC) "smart windows," information displays, variable reflectance mirrors, and photo-detector materials. Designing ternary compounds or composite/hybrid structures coupled with tailoring the nano-architectures of WO3-based materials has been considered to be attractive develop potential candidates with enhanced performance. In this context, in this Thesis work, an attempt is made to prepare W-Mo-O nanocomposite films, which can be considered as …
