Interfaces In Lead-Free Tin Perovskite Photovoltaics: An Investigation Of Energetics, Ion Mobility, Surface Modification, And Performance, Alex Boehm

Theses and Dissertations--Chemistry

Halide perovskites have generated tremendous interest as low-cost semiconductors for optoelectronics, such as photovoltaics, lasers, and light emitting diodes due to their extraordinary optical and transport properties. Perovskite photovoltaics in particular have demonstrated a meteoric rise in power conversion efficiencies and drawn considerable interest as a next-generation solar energy technology. The rapid development has centered around lead-based derivatives, and concerns regarding the toxicity of lead has sparked interest in low toxicity and more environmentally friendly perovskite derivatives. In this regime tin (Sn) is regarded as a prominent alternative owing to the ideal bandgap and reduced toxicity exhibited by Sn-halide perovskites. …

Investigation Of The Dynamics Of Photocarriers During Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting By Combination Of Photoelectrochemistry And Transient Absorption Spectroscopy, Wen-Hua Leng Aug 2014

Investigation Of The Dynamics Of Photocarriers During Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting By Combination Of Photoelectrochemistry And Transient Absorption Spectroscopy, Wen-Hua Leng

Journal of Electrochemistry

Semiconductor photoelectrochemical hydrogen production is an important and promising technology for utilizing solar energy. The efficiency of hydrogen production depends on the efficiencies of separation and transport of photo-generated carriers. A deep understanding of the behavior of these processes has guiding significance for designing efficient solar hydrogen device. photoelectrochemical and transient absorption spectroscopy methods are powerful tool for studying the microscopic dynamics and mechanism of photocatalytic reaction. This review describes the part of the latest results of the author regarding the semiconductor photoelectrochemical hydrogen production obtained by these methods, and the problems and future research priorities in this field are proposed.

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

The interface formation between two different materials is important in applications for optoelectronic devices. Often, the success or performance of these devices is dependent on the formation of these heterojunctions. In this work, the surface and interfaces in such materials for optoelectronic devices are investigated by a suite of X-ray analytical techniques including X-ray photoelectron (XPS), X-ray excited Auger electron (XAES), and X-ray emission (XES) spectroscopies to provide novel insight.

For the group III-nitrides (e.g., AlxGa1-xN) used in many light emitting devices, a significant challenge exists to form an Ohmic contact. The electron affinities and band gaps of GaN and …

A Study Of Monitoring Corrosion Of Metal Via An Optic Waveguide Sensing Method, Xue-Ming Li, Wei-Ming Chen, Shang-Lian Huang, Na Zhang, Zong-Qing Huang

Journal of Electrochemistry

An optical wave guide sensing method was proposed for monitoring corrosion of metal in outdoors steel structures. Replacing the cladding of wave-guide with metal film in a particular location, the method takes the metal film as the corrosion sensitive film. The experiment of waveguide sensor was carried out on a 721 colorimetric vessel, with which the soution is held in itself and the light is propagated in its sidewall. A Fe-C alloy film was electroplated onto the inner sied of vessel to form the corrosion sensitive film. The structure of the Fe-C alloy film was studied by XRD, EDX and …
