By means of a new approach, the current equations of cyclic voltammetry which describes two cases of quasi-steady-state and fast linear scan at microdisk electrode for reversiblesystem were presented and verified experimentally. It has been shown that the features of this currentessentially depend on the ration of, which is described in detail. ln extreme cases, the equationsare the same as those listed in literatures for large plane and spherical electrodes. Using the quasi-steady-state equation, the causes and conditions for forming steady state, quasi-steady state andhysteresis current for linear sweep voltammetry are all explained and discussed. Coadsorption Of Para-Toluene Sulfamide And 1.4-Butynediol At Mercury Electrode, Shukun Huang, Naixian Xie, De Gao, Qiang Liu

The coadsorption characteristics of para-toluene sulfamide and 1,4-butynediol atmercury electrode have been studied by means of electrocapillary curve, differential capacity curve, Stuart model and the SCFMO method (CNDO/2). The coadsorption is a physical adsorption occuringnaturally. Lateral and flat orientations in the two adsorbates close to their maximum adsorptionpotential were considered respectively. Unlike attractive interactions of their own, there was arepulsive interaction at their coadsorption layer. A preferred adsorption of 1,4-butynediol occurred when they were at the same volume concentration.

The structure of LiCoO2 synthesized with tartaric acid and the behavior of itsrechargeable Lithium battery have been studied by XRD, XPS, CV, CT. It has been shown that LiCoO2 has a space group R3m with hexagonal parameters a=0.2810 nm, c=1.4088 nm. Low-spin state Co3+ configuration in LiCoO2 has been suggested. Also, Li2O, was identified onits surface. Furthermore, the capacity and the middle working voltage of its Lithium battery are about 120 mA·h·g-1 and 3.8 V, respectively. The EMF of the cell changes with the Lithium composition of itscathode following E=4.318-0.450 X2/3 in …

The electrochemical properties of the Zn-Ni plating baths and the structure andperformance of the obtained deposits were investigated. The results show that the nickel content of theobtained deposits is incereased with decreasing of Zn2+/Ni2+ ratio in the baths and with increasing of cathodic current density; The cathode current efficiency is increased with increasing of Zn[Ⅱ] content in the bath and with decreasing of cathodic current density. The ZN-11 additive used is thereaction product of heterocyclic compound and polyamines with epichlorohydrin, it has a higheradsorptivity on Hg-electrode at potential between -0.16~-1.68 V (vs. Hg/HgO, 1 mol·L-1 KOH). …

X-ray photoelectron spectrum and characteristics of the capacity, versus thevoltage of the thin film devices are measured to study the surface states of the zinc sulfide thin film.The transient electroluminescence excited by pulses shows the relaxation luminance peaks during anon-exponential decay process of the characteristic transitions activated by Er3+ in the ZnS directcurrent thin film electroluminescence (DCTFEL) devices.The surface structures of ZnS:Cu, Cl, Erfilm with the absorption of oxygen, and the effect of the surface states on the relaxation luminance ofthe devices are discussed.

A vacuum hot pressed alumina material having small, isometric grains; a uniform distribution thereof; relatively low, predominantly transgranular porosity; and a density approaching the theoretical density of pure alumina produced by vacuum hot pressing alumina powder which contains at least 98.0% alumina, is substantially free of any sintering aids or any other additives, and has a median particle size less than about 3 microns, in a vacuum hot press operated at a temperature of at least about 1350° C. and a pressure of at least 28 MPa (3500 PSI) for a sintering period of at least 1.5 hours. Sapphire-reinforced NiAl matrix composites with chromium or tungsten as alloying additions were synthesized using casting and zone directional solidification (DS) techniques and characterized by a fiber pushout test as well as by microhardness measurements. The sapphire-NiAl(Cr) specimens exhibited an interlayer of Cr rich eutectic at the fiber-matrix interface and a higher interfacial shear strength compared to unalloyed sapphire-NiAl specimens processed under identical conditions. In contrast, the sapphire-NiAl(W) specimens did not show interfacial excess of tungsten rich phases, although the interfacial shear strength was high and comparable to that of sapphire-NiAl(Cr). We propose three nontraditional dielectric geometries and present an experimental and theoretical analysis and comparison of time domain reflectometry (TDR) performances for them. The traditional geometry (the probes inserted in material of essentially infinite extent) is compared to three nontraditional geometries where the probes are affixed outside of a core sample, inside of a bore, or flat on the surface of a semi-infinite solid. Our derivation relates the velocity of electromagnetic wave propagation to the complex permittivities and permeabilities of the media and the geometry for the three nontraditional configurations. We report inelastic neutron scattering measurements at excitation energies ħw∼41 meV in YBa2Cu3O7. We separate magnetic and phonon contributions to the scattering cross section by a detailed analysis of the momentum dependence of the scattered intensity. The previously reported broad peak around q = (π/a,π/a) in the normal state can be entirely accounted for by a phonon which primarily involves vibrations of the in-plane oxygen. Magnetic scattering centered around 41 meV and q = (π/a,π/a) appears in the superconducting state only. Theoretical implications of …

In this paper, Raman spectra, photocurrent and the UV-VIS reflectance aremeasured for studying the α-Fe2O3 ultrafine particles adsorbed on Pt electrode. The blue shifts of Raman peaks demonstrate the size quantization effect for the particles of 50 nm in diameter ascompared with the bulk material. With the changing of the potential, the photocurrent decrcases as the UV-VIS reflectance increases, and vice-versa. Therefore, the potential not only affects the hargetransfer direcdtion in the interface of electrode/redox couple, but also influences the light absortion onthe surface of particles. The process of electrochemical reduction of 2EAQ in DMSO is studied using CVand ESR methods in this work, Pt, Pd and some implanted materials are used as electrodes. The quasi-rever-sible property of two electron transfer steps and their following homogeneous chemical reactions are illustrated. The mechanism of the electrochemical red uction of 2EAQ and the kinetic parameters of the related steps are obtained. Having measured the influence of water content in the system, the effect of the proton donor is discussed. A horseradish peroxidase (HRP)/poly-o-phenylenediamine (PPD) membrane electrode was prepared by electropolymerization of o-phenylenediamine on glassy carbon in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer, the process of the enzyme immobilization was studied. The enzyme electrode obtained exhibits the activity to catalyze the electroreduction of hydrogen peroxide in the absence of any electron transfer mediator. The red uction reaction occurs in the potential range of PPD redoxprocess, it was believed that the polymer participates in electron transfer of the enzyme. The enzyme reaction kinetics at rotating HRP/PPD electrode was analysed, and the factors influencing kinetic parameters were discussed.

The electron transfer reaction of redox proteins faciliated by dye medifiedelectrode was reviewed in this paper. The medification metheds and the properties of dye modifiedelectrode were discussed. Several different studying metheds,such as voltammetry, flow analysis and spectroelectrochemical method, were reviewed. Areversible electrocatalytic reaction mechanism was proposed and verified by comparing the digital calculation results with the experimental results.

The main factors of the laser scanning in-situ photoelectrochemical microscopic measurement system which is set up in our lab have been discusaed in this paper. Some applications of this technique for in-situ study of modification and processing of semiconductor electrodes, monitoring of electro deposition process of semiconducting material and redox reaction occurring at metal oxide electrodes have also been presented. The results have shown that the technique is very powerful that for studing local photoelectrochemical properties of semiconductors and metal oxide electrodes. These provide important information on the micro structural and electronic properties in the solid/electrolyte interface.

A black conversion film was formed on stainless steel with cathodic electrode position method from a molybdate-phosphate solution. This film displayed good themcotability. The results of XPS and AES analysis showed that the thickness of the film was 820 nm and that Mo existed as Mo(Ⅵ) in the surface of the film, while existed as Mo(Ⅵ) and Mo(Ⅳ) in the internal layer of the film. The relative atomic percent content (A.C.% of the film obtained from the elemental composition constant region of the depth profile curves by AES was O 50.9%, Mo 29.4%, P 12.6% and Fe 7.1% respectively. The electrochemical oxidation of Mn(Ⅱ) to Mn(Ⅱ) in concentrated H2SO4 (2 ~ 8 mol⋅L-1) at lead electrode has been studied. It is found that the electrode surface is oxidized to PbO2 in a direct electrochemical reaction, then PbO2 formed reacts with Mn(Ⅱ) in a chemical reaction. Some effects involves current density, concentration of H2SO4, temperature and conversionwere evaluated. The rule of electrogenerated Mn(Ⅲ) in flow electrolysis cell were determined at several conditions. The current efficiency at greater than 90% is obtained in general.

This paper reported the glassy carbon electrode modified by cyclic voltammetrybetween -0.1 and +1.5 V (vs. SCE) in an aqueous solution containing catechol, for maldehyde and talium hydroxide. The modified electrode can be applied to the determination of copper(Ⅱ) in water, and its sensitivity is about 35 times higher than that of unmedified glassy carbon electrode, The quantitative limit with this modified electrode is 0.1 ng/ml.

The poly(o-phenylenediamine) (PPD) filmed graphite electrode was formed by electro-polymerization of o-phenylenediamine in acidified (pH=1) 0.2 mol·L-1 Na2SO4 solution using the cyclic voltammetric methed. The catalytic effect of the electrcareduction of oxygen in acid olution was demonstrated by the voltammogram of the electrode in the oxygen saturated acid solutionof Na2SO4. The current efficiency of the reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide was determined by the electrolysis in a divided cell under the condition of constant current. The various effectsinfluencing the accmulation of H2O2 in the catholyte were discussed.

Electrochemical reduction reaction in the course of the titration of Eu(2.2.2) and Eu(2.2) using strong bonding solvent, DMSO, in C2H4Cl2 has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The greater the concentration of strong bonding solvent, the more negative the half-wave potentials for the reduction reaction are. The coordination number of Eu(2.2.2) and Eu(2.2) which are 2 and 3 respectively, with DMSO can be calculated, according to the relations between half-wave potentials and the variety of concentration of DMSO.

The purpose of this paper, is to provide a means of estimating and comparing the wavelength conversion efficiency (figure of merit, FOM) of new nonlinear materials knowing only their bandgap. The approach for the estimates is trend analysis of existing data1-28 for the second order nonlinear coefficient, x(2)ijk, or dij =x(2)ijk/2, the index of refraction n, and the bandgap E. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is the preferred method of manufacture for solid films used in many industrially important thin and thick film applications. Requirements for the physical, mechanical and electrical properties of these films are becoming increasingly difficult to achieve, and deposition morphology plays an important role in this regard. Recently, we proposed a continuum model describing the evolution of a gassolid interface during atmospheric pressure CVD (Viljoen er al., 1994). A radiolabeled protein composition adapted for radiation therapy which comprises a radioisotope and a protein material containing about 6 or more percent amino acids which have a sulfhydryl-containing side chain. A method for carrying out radiation synovectomy of arthritic joints. Rhenium radiolabeled protein micro- spheres are administered which contain cysteine and other amino acids. A method for radiolabeling a protein composition whereby the composition is treated with a reducing agent capable of reducing disulfides to sulfhydryls prior to radiolabeling.
