Journal of Electrochemistry
In this paper, the cyclic voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical behaviors of μ-oxamido Copper(Ⅱ) Binuclear Complex (deCu) in PBS were studied. Cyclic voltammograms of this complex in PBS (pH=9) exhibited two reductive peaks (Epc1 =-0.25 V, Epc2 = -0.50 V) at hanging mercury drop electrode(HMDE), peaks at -0.50 V and -0.25 V corresponded to the reduction of ligand and copper(Ⅱ) complex, respectively. The spectroelectrochimical experiments showed that there was a new absorption band at 440 nm, and the absorption peaks at 270 nm, 280 nm red shifted to 300 nm, 310 nm under potential of -0.75 V. It was meant …

The Mechanism Of Electrocatalytic Reduction Of Oxygen On Manganese Dioxide, Yu-Liang Cao, Han-Xi Yang, Xin-Ping Ai, Li-Fen Xiao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The oxygen electroreduction on the MnO2 electrode was investigated by analysis of the polarzation properties of oxygen reduciton and its dependence on MnO2 discharge state, in combination with the characterization of discharge intermediate and the kinetic parameters of the oxygen reduction. Based on the experimental observation and mechanistic analysis, it was suggested that the reduction of oxygen was closely related to the discharge behaviors of MnO2. When MnO2 was electrochimically reduced to MnOOH, it was immediately oxidized by oxygen molecules. Thus the oxygen reduction proceeds through continuous oxidation of the discharge product of MnO2 …

Journal of Electrochemistry
The oxidation behavior of the Zr- based bulk amorphous alloy (BMG; Zr-30Cu-10Al-5Ni in at.%) was studied in dry air over the temperature range 300~500 ℃. The kinetic results indicated that the amorphous alloy oxidized linearly at 300 ℃, while the parabolic oxidation was observed at 350~425 ℃, and the oxidation behavior at 500 ℃ was irregular and complicated. In general, the scales formed on the surface of the amorphous alloy were temperature-dependent, consisting of tetragonal-ZrO2 at 300 ℃, and of mostly tetragonal-ZrO2 as well as minor amounts of monoclinic-ZrO2 and CuO at T ≥ 350 ℃.

An Eqcm Study Of Water Adsorption And Oxidation On Pt Electrodes In Sulfate Acid Sulotions, Heng Lin, Sheng-Pei Chen, Jin-Mei Lin, Ai-Lan Lin, Guo-Liang Chen
Journal of Electrochemistry
Simultaneous frequency and current responses during potential cycling of Pt electrode were measured in 0.1 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution by using EQCM. Quantitative analysis of the mass change revealed that the increase of mass in the hydrogen and double-layer regions in a positive-going potential scan was due to water adsorption on the Pt electrode, further calculation indicated that water molecules adsorbed on Pt electrode in the double-layer regions through a low discharge quomodo .The EQCM studies provided quantitative results of surface mass variation during water adsorption and oxidation, and have thrown new light in elucidating the structure of …

Cadmium p-toluenesulfonate was synthesized and tested electrochemically for the first time. This salt can lose all the hydrated water easily and the dehydrated salt do not deliquesce in the air.Hence, the cadmium p-toluenesulfonate is suitable for the electrochemical studies in organic solvents. When the Cd(Ⅱ) reduced on Pt electrode in Cd(p-CH3C6H4SO3)2+TBAP+DMSO, underpotential deposition of cadmium occurred at first, and then cadmium deposited. 4-Methyl-7-hydroxylcoumarin and 3-aminocoumarin coordinate with Cd(Ⅱ) respectively, as a result the reductive potentials of Cd(Ⅱ) moved to the negative direction.

The doping of B, Al reduced the reversible capacity during the first discharge/charge cycle, and the quantity of reversible capacity reduced with B, Al increasing. The modifying structures at difference …

Preparation And Performance Of Lifeo2 Coated Nickel Oxide Cathode For Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells, Chun-Ming Wang, Fei Li, Ke-Ao Hu
Journal of Electrochemistry
A novel cathode for molten carbonate fuel cells was prepared by coating LiFeO2 over the surface of porous NiO cathode by a simple combustion process. The analytical results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) indicated that the LiFeO2 coating on the surface of NiO particles consisted of nonometer-sized LiFeO2 grains and sintered tightly with the NiO particles. The LiFeO2 coating dramatically reduced the contacting area of NiO with the carbonate melts, thus the solubility of NiO in the carbonate melts was decreased. Meanwhile, …

Journal of Electrochemistry
The electrochemical behavior of molybdates on a platinum electrode in H2SO4 solutions with different H2SO4 concentrations was studied by cyclic voltammetry and double chronoamperometry. Molybdates were reduced to adsorb hydrogen molybdenum bronzes on the platinum electrode in H2SO4 solutions during cathodically potential sweep. The hydrogen molybdenum bronzes were oxidized to different forms of hydrogen molybdenum bronzes with less hydrogen, depending on the H2SO4 concentration. Platinum electrode was modified by these hydrogen molybdenum bronzes. However, this modified electrode was not stable in H2SO4 solutions. The modified …

Journal of Electrochemistry
The performances of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs)with various Pt loading were compared. The amount of Nafion in a catalytic layer was optimized, and the effect of Nafion loading on the resistance of MEAs was investigated with ac impedance spectroscopy. For a MEA with both Pt 4 mg/cm2 in the anode and the cathode, suitable Nafion loading was 21.4 wt% in the anode. With 21.4 wt% Nafion loading in the cathode, the Direct Methanol Fuel Cells(DMFC) showed the highest performance at high current density. While, the DMFC performances came down, as Nafion loading increasing, for ohm and concentration polarization.

Modeling And Simulation Of The Chemical Etching Process In Niobium Cavities, Qin Xue
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Niobium Cavities are important parts of the integrated NC/SC high-power linear accelerator (linac) that can accelerate over 100 mA of protons to several GeV. Surface finish of the niobium cavity plays an important role of achieving the best performance of niobium cavity. The chemical etching techniques have been widely used.
Chemical etching of the inner surface of the cavity is achieved by circulating acid through it. The acid interacts with the surface and eliminates imperfections. During the etching process, a pipe with baffles is inserted within the cavity to direct the flow along the surfaces.

Electrocatalytic Oxidation Of Formaldehyde On The Proline Film Modified Electrode, Yu-Rong Ma, Qiu-Xia Yang, Guo-Bao Li, Zheng-Kai Xi, Xue-Lin Wang
Journal of Electrochemistry
The proline film modified electrode and its electrochemical behavior was studied by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry. After incorporation of Ni(Ⅱ), the cyclic voltammograms of the proline Ni(Ⅱ) film electrode exhibited a typical redox peak, which appeared at potential of 0.52 V anodic and 0.44 V cathodic in NaOH. The formal potentials E' were linearly dependent on the pH, and the peak currents ip were linearly dependent on the square root of the scan rates, thus charge transfer in the film was controlled by diffusion. The diffusion coefficient is figured out to be 2×10-10 cm2·s-1. The …
