In this study, lead-free (Bi0.465Na0.465Ba0.07)(1–x)LaxTiO3 (x=0.0‒0.04) ceramics were synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method. All samples showed a single-phase perovskite structure with pseudocubic symmetry. The dense microstructure revealed a decrease in average grain size as x increased. La3+ addition stabilized polar nanoregions (PNRs), shifting the ferroelectric to relaxor phase transition temperature (TF₋R=104℃ for x=0.0) to below room temperatures as La3+ content increased. This resulted in a transition from a rectangular to a relaxor-like thin P–E loop (x≥0.01), indicating a shift from ferro-electric (FE) to relaxor ferroelectric (RFE), which …

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
Hypothesis: Some types of cleaning methods are not very effective and can actually increase damage to the optical parts being cleaned. As an alternative to these methods, we propose the use of gel-like substances to remove contaminants from optical surfaces. We have developed a method for cleaning optical glass surfaces that uses organogels, which are based on copolymers of methyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid. These organogels are loaded with polyethylene glycol, and aluminum oxide particles (Al2O3), which help to effectively remove contaminants without causing damage to the surface. Experiments: Al2O3 nanoparticles prepared by a Nano Spray Dryer were added to …

The rail transport system is essential for moving passengers and heavy goods over long distances, with steel 900A being a common material used for rail tracks in Thailand. Prolonged exposure to heavy loads and variable environmental conditions can lead to rail track damage known as "engine burn”, which results from friction between the train’s wheels and the rail. The flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) process is employed to repair these burns due to its use of readily available electrode wires and the efficiency of the repair. However, welding high-carbon steel like rail steel 900A poses challenges, such as a tendency to …

Different organic compounds like dyes and pharmaceutical contaminants pollute a large amount of water which can increase the chemical oxygen demand in water bodies. The photodegradation of dyes has been widely studied using TiO2-based nanomaterials, which are typical photocatalysts. TiO2 is highly effective in reducing pollutants when exposed to UV light and does not cause secondary pollution. However, TiO2 is only functional when exposed to UV light, which is not ideal for real-world use. This drawback of TiO2 pulls the research towards modified photocatalysts for better yield. In this study, the (BiYbO3)0.5 - (BaTiO3)0.5 material was formulated by solid state …

To develop a cost-effective alternative to noble metal catalysts for photocatalysis, we synthesized a series of bimetallic Co-Ni nanoalloys on core-shelled SiO2@TiO2 nanostructures via a chemical reduction approach. The research demonstrates the photocatalytic behaviour of the Co-Ni alloy-enhanced SiO2@TiO2 (ST-Co, Ni) hybrid nanocatalyst, focusing on its crystalline structures, morphological shapes, chemical conditions, and optical properties, utilizing techniques such as X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, and electrochemical analysis. The catalyst was evaluated for its effectiveness in degrading tetracycline, an overused antibiotic that persists in aquatic environments and is known for …

This study investigates the structural, microstructural, dielectric, and electrical properties of BiNaZnMoO₆ (BNZM) ceramic synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method. Preliminary structural analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD) suggests orthorhombic crystal symmetry. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs reveal a uniform distribution of well-grown grains with well-defined grain boundaries, which may contribute to the enhanced dielectric properties. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis confirms the presence of all constituent elements Bi, Na, Zn, Mo, and O in the studied sample. Dielectric spectra analysis as a function of frequency and temperature indicates the formation of high-quality dielectric materials, evidenced by a high …

As a robust photocatalyst, Bi4O5I2 have has attracted significant scientific interest owing to its narrow bandgap energy, escalated electronic properties and high stability. Nonetheless, the unfavourable band structure and higher recombination of excitons have restricted its diversified photocatalytic applications. In this context, binary heterojunction construction using Bi4O5I2 could be considered an effective strategy for spatial charge carrier separation across the hetero-interface, leading to an enhanced activity. In this study, we have prepared Bi4O5I2/g-C3N4 Z-scheme hetero-structures via a wet impregnation strategy that preserves the spherical structure of Bi4O5I2. The phase purity, chemical bonding, morphology and microstructure of the composite were confirmed …
