This paper presents effective and robust method for the extracting of features in the speaker dependent voice recognition. Based on the time-frequency multi-resolution property of wavelet transform, the input speech signal is decomposed into various frequency channels. The major issues concerning the design in this paper for wavelet based speaker voice recognition system are choosing the optimal wavelets for the speech signals, decomposition level in the discrete wavelet transform, and selecting the feature vectors from the wavelet coefficients. And finally, the wavelet-based voice recognition system and its performance are discussed and highlighted.

Innovative Research Publications IRP India
The objective of this paper is to convert the english text into speech. The conversion of english text into speech is done by using a stored speech signal data. Text to speech conversion module is designed by the use of matlab. By the use of microphone the phonemes (alphabets, numbers, words) are recorded using a goldwave software. The recorded .wav (sounds) files are saved as a database separately. The phonemes are extracted from the text file. For text to speech conversion the concatenation method is proposed. The recorded speech are concatenated together to produce the synthesized speech. The resulting speech …

Software defined radios (SDRs) are poised to significantly enhance the future of small spacecraft communications. They allow signal processing to be performed on a computer by software rather than requiring dedicated hardware. The OpenOrbiter SDR (discussed in [1] and refined in [2]) takes data from the flight computer and converts it into an analog signal that is transmitted via the spacecraft antenna. Because the signal processing is done in software, the radio can be easily reconfigured. This process is done in reverse for incoming transmissions, which are received by the SDR and decoded by software. Figures 1 and 2 provide …

The OpenOrbiter small spacecraft development program aims to develop a template that can be used by colleges and universities world-wide to ‘jumpstart’ their own CubeSat development program. It is doing this through the development of designs (and implementations to test the designs functionality) of all basic CubeSat subsystems. A CubeSat can prospectively perform elements of a mission that would otherwise have required the development and deployment of a multi-million dollar satellite, thus, interest in CubeSats in industry and government is strong as well. The Open Prototype for Educational Nanosats (OPEN) design being produced by the OpenOrbiter program may, thus, be …

The medical field is beginning to use advanced manufacturing technologies such as three-dimensional (3D) scanning (where a real-world object is turned into a digital model) and printing (where a digital model is turned into a real-world object) to create customized prosthetics and other medical devices to address the specific needs of patients. This technology provides an efficient way to customize prosthetics to fit a particular person and his or her unique shape, making the prosthetics easier for the patient to use and in some cases, meeting needs that cannot be met via pre-fabricated equipment. The use of 3D scanning facilitates …

The assessment of in-space objects is an area of ongoing research. Characterization of resident space objects (RSOs) can be useful for assessing the operating status of operator-affiliated or non-affiliated space assets, identifying unknown objects or gathering additional details for known objects. Under the proposed approach, a ring-like constellation of CubeSats passes around the target (at a distance) collecting imagery. This imagery is then utilized to create a 3D model of the target. This paper considers several key elements of a constellation to perform this type of imaging, including the constellation design and imaging capabilities required and the astrodynamics relevant to …

Introduction To Anti-Collision Algorithms And Estimation Methods In Rfid Systems, Masoud Shakiba
Masoud Shakiba
The main objective of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems is to provide fast identification for tagged objects. The noteworthy advantage of RFID technology, is its capability to identify objects simultaneously. However, when radio frequency signals are emitted simultaneously, there is a probability of collision occurrence, and thereby resulting in a waste of resources. Collision is a time-consuming event that reduces the performance of RFID systems. Consequently, several anti-collision algorithms have been proposed in the literature, attempt to decrease the collision occurrence probability. In almost all the existing anti-collision algorithms, a prior knowledge of the number of tags has a significant …

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is a new communication technology to identify the objects using electromagnetic waves. The main superiority of RFID systems in comparison with other identification systems, such as barcodes, is its ability in simultaneous identification process, but when more than one tag wants to communicate with the reader, collision problem occurs and wastes time and increases energy consumption. This reduces efficiency of the identification process in RFID systems. Collision problem happens when the reader has to identify more than one tag at the same time. Consequently, it is essential to develop an efficient anti-collision algorithm to save …

We describe a new approach to analyze chirp syllables of free-tailed bats from two regions of Texas in which they are predominant: Austin and College Station. Our goal is to characterize any systematic regional differences in the mating chirps and assess whether individual bats have signature chirps. The data are analyzed by modeling spectrograms of the chirps as responses in a Bayesian functional mixed model. Given the variable chirp lengths, we compute the spectrograms on a relative time scale interpretable as the relative chirp position, using a variable window overlap based on chirp length. We use 2D wavelet transforms to …

Generally, reliable speech recognition is a hard problem that required a combination solution of many techniques. Thus, the combinations of Al-Quran with speech recognition system is quite challenging task to be implemented. It is because the Quran sound, which had been recited by most of reciters will probably tend to differ a lot from one person to another. Although those Quranic sentences were particularly taken from the same verse, but the way of the sentence in Al-Quran been recited or delivered may be different, depend on reciters with the different levels of understanding of Tajweed rules. Selective Recursive Kernel Learning For Online Identification Of Nonlinear Systems With Narx Form, Yi Liu, Haiqing Wang, Jiang Yu, Ping Li
Dr. Yi Liu
Online identification of nonlinear systems is still an important while difficult task in practice. A general and simple online identification method, namely Selective Recursive Kernel Learning (SRKL), is proposed for multi-input–multi-output (MIMO) systems with the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous input form. A two-stage RKL online identification framework is first formulated, where the information contained by a sample (i.e., the new arriving or old useless one) can be introduced into and/or deleted from the model, recursively. Then, a sparsification strategy to restrict the model complexity is developed to guarantee all the output channels of the MIMO model accurate simultaneously. Specially, a …

Adaptive Target Detection With Application To Through-The-Wall Radar Imaging, Christian Debes, Jesper Riedler, Abdelhak M. Zoubir, Moeness G. Amin
Christian Debes
An adaptive detection scheme is proposed for radar imaging. The proposed detector is a postprocessing scheme derived for one-, two-, and three-dimensional data, and applied to through- the-wall imaging using synthetic aperture radar. The target image statistics depend on the target three-dimensional orientation and position. The statistics can also vary with the standoff distance of the imaging system because of the change in the corresponding scene image resolution. We propose an iterative target detection scheme for the cases in which no or partial a priori knowledge of the target image statistics is available. Properties of the proposed scheme, such as …

Target Detection In Single- And Multiple-View Through-The-Wall Radar Imaging, Christian Debes, Moeness G. Amin, Abdelhak M. Zoubir
Christian Debes
A detector of targets behind walls and in enclosed structures is presented. The detector is applied to through-the-wall radar images obtained by wideband delay and sum beamforming. We consider the detection problem using single- and multiple-view imaging. The statistics of noise, clutter, and target images are examined and formulated using sample scenes. The effects of wall parameter errors on the image statistics are shown. An iterative detection scheme, which adapts itself to the image statistics, is presented. The proposed detection schemes are evaluated using real data.
