Unveiling The Indoor Performance Of Perovskite/Silicon Tan‑Dem Solar Cells: A Comprehensive Exploration Through Numerically Modelled Energy Band Diagrams, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh O. Abdellatif, Alexander De-Bernardinis, Muath Alkadi, Mostafa Ganoud, Saif Qaid

Chemical Engineering

This paper delves into the indoor performance analysis of Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells (PSSTC) through a detailed exploration utilizing numerically modeled energy band diagrams. The primary objective is to uncover the potential of PSSTC for solar energy conversion in indoor settings. Various tandem cell configurations are scrutinized under diverse artificial lighting spectra, with an innovative Li4Ti5O12/ CsPbCl3/MAPbBr3/CH3NH3PbI3/ Si architecture achieving an exceptional maximum power conversion efficiency of 25.25%. This represents a substantial efficiency enhancement of nearly 7% compared to standalone Silicon cells. The study underscores the significance of design optimization in maximizing performance. The energy band diagram analysis reveals a …

Optoelectronic And Morphological Surface Resistance Evaluation Of Laser-Induced Graphene Counter Electrodes For Potential Applications In Cesium Lead Halide Perovskite Solar Cells, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Osama Abdellatif, Rami Ghannam Jul 2024

Optoelectronic And Morphological Surface Resistance Evaluation Of Laser-Induced Graphene Counter Electrodes For Potential Applications In Cesium Lead Halide Perovskite Solar Cells, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Osama Abdellatif, Rami Ghannam

Chemical Engineering

This study investigates the physicochemical, optical, and electrical characterization of laser-induced graphene (LIG) samples for integration as counter electrodes in cesium lead halide perovskite solar cells. The impact of laser processing parameters on electrode performance is explored, including laser power, laser speed, and beam defocus. Density functional theory (DFT) computational modeling is employed for atomistic investigation and work function estimation, demonstrating the density of states (DOS), quantum capacitance of the graphene sheets, and energy work function. NiO is utilized as a hole transport layer, and the energy work function of LIG is tuned accordingly. SEM measurements estimate thin film porosity, …

Exploring The Morphological Surface Resistance And Optical Absorption Of Thin Black Carbon Nanotube Films For Electronic And Optoelectronic Devices, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Osama Abdellatif

Chemical Engineering

This study investigates the optical and electrical properties of thin black films of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) fabricated under various conditions to explore their potential integration as either a perfect broadband absorber or enhanced counter electrode. The study involves SEM measurements, surface resistance measurements, and UV–Vis. spectrometer analysis. The results show that the CNT thin films exhibit high electrical conductivity and strong light absorption across various wavelengths. Optically, we investigated the impact of varying the growth temperature and catalyst temperature on the absorption profile of the thin films. The fabricated and deposited CNTs showed broadband absorption spectra, reaching 92.8% of the …

Origin Of Capacitance In Perovskite Solar Cells: Insight Vision On The Energy Band Diagram, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Abdellatif, Monica Roman Aug 2023

Origin Of Capacitance In Perovskite Solar Cells: Insight Vision On The Energy Band Diagram, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Abdellatif, Monica Roman

Chemical Engineering

In recent years, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have made significant progress, with fast improvements in energy conversion. Although they have become incredibly efficient in a short amount of time, they still face several obstacles before becoming a viable commercial technology. Researchers spent time looking for an equivalent circuit that could describe the J-V curves of PSCs and demonstrate the physical processes of optical absorption and carrier transit. In this paper, we proposed a model of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) using SCAPS software to determine the parasitic elements and show the solar cell's behavior. A previous model of a perovskite solar …

Investigating The Variation In The Optical Properties Of Tio2 Thin-Film Utilized In Bifacial Solar Cells Using Machine Learning Algorithm, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Abdellatif, Ahmed Fathi, Kareem Abdullah, Minatallah Hassan Jan 2022

Investigating The Variation In The Optical Properties Of Tio2 Thin-Film Utilized In Bifacial Solar Cells Using Machine Learning Algorithm, Ziad Khalifa, Sameh Abdellatif, Ahmed Fathi, Kareem Abdullah, Minatallah Hassan

Chemical Engineering

Among various solar cell architectures, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and perovskite solar cells have demonstrated the capability of being bifacial as both can be fabricated on conducting glass electrodes. In both cells, TiO2 plays a key role in the optoelectronic properties of the cell. Various studies have reported a range of recipes and deposition techniques for TiO2 thin films. Such variety introduces some uncertainties into the optical properties of the prepared films as well as in the process repeatability. Here, we utilized machine learning methods to correlate the film porosity to the film refractive index, making it capable of studying …

Recent Advances In Silver Nanoparticle-Based Electrochemical Sensors For Determining Organic Pollutants In Water, Ziad Khalifa, Moustafa Zahran, Magdy Zahran, Magdi Abdelazzem

Chemical Engineering

Water pollutants have attracted great attention because of their negative effect on human health. Accordingly, various analytical techniques have been investigated to detect water pollutants as a preliminary step for their control. This review highlights silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as promising electrochemical probes studied for detecting organic pollutants. Electrochemical sensors can be fabricated by modifying electrode surfaces using AgNPs via different techniques, such as electrochemical deposition, drop casting, spin coating, sticking, and transfer sticking, as well as carbon paste-based modification. AgNPs at electrode surfaces can be identified by their stripping to form Ag+ with a particular oxidation peak. Additionally, they can …

Evaluation Of Capacitive Deionization Desalination Technology For Irrigation, Ziad Khalifa, Moustafa Elshafei Prof, Abdalrahman Amer, Eng, Ashraf Seleym Dr, Tamer Samir Eng

Chemical Engineering

Desalination of brackish groundwater has great potential to alleviate the problem of the limited water resources in Egypt. In this paper, we studied the desalination of brackish water for irrigation purposes using capacitive deionization (CDI) technology. We investigated a modular unit for use in greenhouses (GH). A GH for the production of tomato requires about 3.2 m3/d of water. The target CDI unit has a production capacity of 32 m3/d for irrigation of 10 greenhouses from brackish water. The paper provides an extensive simulation study to illustrate the influence of various design parameters and to unveil the CDI technology pros …
