State Omniscience For Cooperative Local Catalog Maintenance Of Close Proximity Satellite Systems, Chris Hays Apr 2024

State Omniscience For Cooperative Local Catalog Maintenance Of Close Proximity Satellite Systems, Chris Hays

Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses

Resiliency in multi-agent system navigation is reliant on the inherent ability of the system to withstand, overcome, or recover from adverse conditions and disturbances. In large part, resiliency is achieved through reducing the impact of critical failure points to the success and/or performance of the system. In this view, decentralized multi-agent architectures have become an attractive solution for multi-agent navigation, but decentralized architectures place the burden of information acquisition directly on the agents themselves. In fact, the design of distributed estimators has been a growing interest to enable complex multi-sensor/multi-agent tasks. In such scenarios, it is important that each local …

Strategy For Predictive Control Of The Rectification Process Based On A Model Controller With A Given Forecast, Ildar Rafkatovich Sultanov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

A method is being developed to optimize the generated controls for the multicomponent distillation process with prediction, based on predictive data with a moving horizon. The difference between this method and the classical modeling approach, in which the percentage of the degree of opening of valves installed on the output streams of the column is used as control actions, is that control occurs on the feedback principle. The proposed method is based on the use of a dynamic process model to optimize control actions in real time in order to achieve certain production targets. The essence of the MPC approach …

Complete Solution Of The Lady In The Lake Scenario, Alexander Von Moll, Meir Pachter Jan 2024

Complete Solution Of The Lady In The Lake Scenario, Alexander Von Moll, Meir Pachter

Faculty Publications

In the Lady in the Lake scenario, a mobile agent, L, is pitted against an agent, M, who is constrained to move along the perimeter of a circle. L is assumed to begin inside the circle and wishes to escape to the perimeter with some finite angular separation from M at the perimeter. This scenario has, in the past, been formulated as a zero-sum differential game wherein L seeks to maximize terminal separation and M seeks to minimize it. Its solution is well-known. However, there is a large portion of the state space for which the canonical solution does not …

External Direct Sum Invariant Subspace And Decomposition Of Coupled Differential-Difference Equations, Keqin Gu, Huan Phan-Van Jan 2024

External Direct Sum Invariant Subspace And Decomposition Of Coupled Differential-Difference Equations, Keqin Gu, Huan Phan-Van

SIUE Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity

This article discusses the invariant subspaces that are restricted to be external direct sums. Some existence conditions are presented that facilitate finding such invariant subspaces. This problem is related to the decomposition of coupled differential-difference equations, leading to the possibility of lowering the dimensions of coupled differential-difference equations. As has been well documented, lowering the dimension of coupled differential-difference equations can drastically reduce the computational time needed in stability analysis when a complete quadratic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is used. Most known ad hoc methods of reducing the order are special cases of this formulation.

Structured Invariant Subspace And Decomposition Of Systems With Time Delays And Uncertainties, Huan Phan-Van, Keqin Gu

SIUE Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity

This article discusses invariant subspaces of a matrix with a given partition structure. The existence of a nontrivial structured invariant subspace is equivalent to the possibility of decomposing the associated system with multiple feedback blocks such that the feedback operators are subject to a given constraint. The formulation is especially useful in the stability analysis of time-delay systems using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach where computational efficiency is essential in order to achieve accuracy for large scale systems. The set of all structured invariant subspaces are obtained (thus all possible decompositions are obtained as a result) for the coupled differential-difference equations …
