Approximate And Sample Entropy Of Center Of Pressure In Unperturbed Tandem Standing: Contribution Of Embedding Dimension And Tolerance, Jayla Mashae Wesley
Approximate And Sample Entropy Of Center Of Pressure In Unperturbed Tandem Standing: Contribution Of Embedding Dimension And Tolerance, Jayla Mashae Wesley
Masters Theses
Approximate entropy (ApEn) and sample entropy (SampEn) are statistical methods designed to quantify the regularity or predictability of a time series. Although ApEn has been a prominent choice for use, it is currently unclear as to which method and parameter selection combination is optimal for its application in biomechanics. The goal of this thesis was to examine the difference between ApEn and SampEn related to center of pressure (COP) data during standing balance tasks, while also refining tolerance r, to determine entropy optimization. Six participants completed five 30-second, feet together and tandem standing, trials under eyes-open and eyes-closed conditions. Ground …

Anglo-American Nursing: A Historical Timeline Of The Field From The Renaissance To World War Ii, Carlyn Homann
Anglo-American Nursing: A Historical Timeline Of The Field From The Renaissance To World War Ii, Carlyn Homann
Honors Projects
This timeline stands as an extensive- although not comprehensive- review of the evolution of Anglo-American nursing as a profession, but it will also explore the contributions of other nations where it is appropriate. It seeks to summarize the field and its limitations from the early 15th century to World War II, as well as the capability for upward movement within an existing hierarchy while also considering the education required of a nurse during the selected time period in order to provide context for current nursing students.
Hiv/Aids After The Crisis: The Evolution Of An Epidemic, Emma Paras
Hiv/Aids After The Crisis: The Evolution Of An Epidemic, Emma Paras
Honors Projects
HIV and AIDS has affected the world for over four decades. In the past, a positive HIV diagnosis could very well be a death sentence, as well as signal that an individual was a social outcast. In the past ten years, however, treatments for HIV/AIDS allow a person to live a long and relatively healthy life. In addition to examining current and future trends in HIV treatment, this paper will also discuss how the virus affects different regions of the world. Particularly in certain parts of Africa, HIV/AIDS remains deadly for many who don’t have proper access to health care …
Assessing The Role Of The Pelvic Canal In Supporting The Gut In Humans, Jeanelle Uy, Natalie Laudicina
Assessing The Role Of The Pelvic Canal In Supporting The Gut In Humans, Jeanelle Uy, Natalie Laudicina
Peer Reviewed Articles
The human pelvic canal (true pelvis) functions to support the abdominopelvic organs and serves as a passageway for reproduction (females). Previous research suggests that these two functions work against each other with the expectation that the supportive role results in a narrower pelvic midplane, while fetal passage necessitates a larger opening. In this research, we examine how gut size relates to the size and shape of the true pelvis, which may have implications on how gut size can influence pelvic floor integrity. Pelves and in vivo gut volumes were measured from CT scans of 92 adults (48 female, 44 male). …
