Study Of Mosfet Degradation Under Substrate Injection And Hot Carrier Degradation, Bhawar S. Patel
Study Of Mosfet Degradation Under Substrate Injection And Hot Carrier Degradation, Bhawar S. Patel
Theses
With continued scaling of MOSFET's, the reliability of thin gate oxides is becoming increasingly important. Degradation issues due to fabrication technology may result in misinterpretation unless the actual physical situation arising at source, drain, gate and substrate of a transistor during processing is understood. This degradation is prominent in plasma processing due to wafer charging which occurs due to the reactive ions in the plasma. The voltages developed at source and drain junctions, depending upon polarity relative to the substrate cause the source and drain junctions to be forward biased or reverse biased. Keeping in view this type of physical …
Co-Operative Location Updates For Mobile Nodes For Cellular Networks, Samir Shah
Co-Operative Location Updates For Mobile Nodes For Cellular Networks, Samir Shah
Theses
In current pure cellular networks, each and every mobile node updates it's location to the particular base station separately following certain algorithms, say timer based, mobility based or both. For the next generation wireless networks, which we can consider as a highly dense network, such location update algorithms prove to be very costly in the terms of overall location update traffic to the base station and average battery usage by each mobile node for location updates due to large number of mobile nodes for particular base station area.
Instead of using such one-to-one link for location updates, this report describes …
A Combined Channel-Modified Adaptive Array Mmse Canceller And Viterbi Equalizer, Richard M. Friedman
A Combined Channel-Modified Adaptive Array Mmse Canceller And Viterbi Equalizer, Richard M. Friedman
Theses
In this thesis, a very simple scheme is proposed which couples a maximum-likelihood sequence estimator (MLSE) with a X-element canceller. The method makes use of the MLSE's channel estimator to modify the locally generated training sequence used to calculate the antenna array weights. This method will increase the array's degree of freedom for interference cancellation by allowing the dispersive, desired signal to pass through the array undisturbed. Temporal equalization of the desired signal is then accomplished using maximum-likelihood sequence estimation. The T-spaced channel estimator coefficients and the array weights are obtained simultaneously using the minimum mean square error criteria. The …

Comparison Of Thermal Cyclic Oxidation Of The Pvd Ni-Al And Hvof-Mcraly Coatings, J-T Chang, C-H Yeh, J-L He, K-C Chen
Journal of Electrochemistry
A PVD process-cathodic arc plasma ion plating was used to deposit Ni-Al films on Inconel 600 superalloy. The oxidation behaviors of PVD Ni-Al coating and the thermal sprayed CoCrAlY coatings were revealed and compared by performing cyclic thermal oxidation test at 1100 ℃ to evaluate its feasibility. Experimental results showed that the films with different compositions of Ni62Al38, Ni63Al37 and Ni69Al31 could be obtained when using Ni52Al48, Ni60Al40 and Ni70Al30 as targets, respectively. During the cyclic thermal oxidation test, the …

Journal of Electrochemistry
In this paper, the cyclic voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical behaviors of μ-oxamido Copper(Ⅱ) Binuclear Complex (deCu) in PBS were studied. Cyclic voltammograms of this complex in PBS (pH=9) exhibited two reductive peaks (Epc1 =-0.25 V, Epc2 = -0.50 V) at hanging mercury drop electrode(HMDE), peaks at -0.50 V and -0.25 V corresponded to the reduction of ligand and copper(Ⅱ) complex, respectively. The spectroelectrochimical experiments showed that there was a new absorption band at 440 nm, and the absorption peaks at 270 nm, 280 nm red shifted to 300 nm, 310 nm under potential of -0.75 V. It was meant …
The Mechanism Of Electrocatalytic Reduction Of Oxygen On Manganese Dioxide, Yu-Liang Cao, Han-Xi Yang, Xin-Ping Ai, Li-Fen Xiao
The Mechanism Of Electrocatalytic Reduction Of Oxygen On Manganese Dioxide, Yu-Liang Cao, Han-Xi Yang, Xin-Ping Ai, Li-Fen Xiao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The oxygen electroreduction on the MnO2 electrode was investigated by analysis of the polarzation properties of oxygen reduciton and its dependence on MnO2 discharge state, in combination with the characterization of discharge intermediate and the kinetic parameters of the oxygen reduction. Based on the experimental observation and mechanistic analysis, it was suggested that the reduction of oxygen was closely related to the discharge behaviors of MnO2. When MnO2 was electrochimically reduced to MnOOH, it was immediately oxidized by oxygen molecules. Thus the oxygen reduction proceeds through continuous oxidation of the discharge product of MnO2 …

Synthesis And Electrochemical Properties Of K2Feo4, Ning Zhou, Shi-Hai Ye, Yong-Long Wang, Xue-Ping Gao, Dong-Feng Lin, Zuo-Xiang Zhou, De-Ying Song
Journal of Electrochemistry
The K2FeO4 used for new positive electrode materials was prepared. The primary batteries were used in different concentration of electrolyte and different currents. In 9 mol/L KOH , the capacity was the best. The higher the concentration of electrolyte, the lower the electric potential was. When the batteries discharged in 0.4 C , the capacity reached 521.3 mAh/g. By XRD, we gave the reasonable explanations for the discharge products of K2FeO4. Possible mechanism of discharge is discussed.

Synthesis Of Polyunit Vapor Phase Inhibitor And Its Volatile Corrosion Inhibition Performance, Da-Quan Zhang, Li-Xin Gao, Guo-Ding Zhou
Journal of Electrochemistry
A Mannich Base derivative (BMMCH), containing two morpholinum moieties and one cyclohexylamnonium moiety, was synthesized through aminomethy1 reaction. Its configuration was verified by IR and 1H-NMR. Its volatile rustproofing effect was appraised by volatile rustproofing sieve test and vapor inhabitability test. The result shows that BMMCH has good protection effect for carbon steel. BMMCH has lower volatility compared with dicyclohexylamnonium nitrite (DICHAN) via closed space volatile weight-loss test. The inhibition mechanism was studied by potentiodynamic polarization electrochemistry technique in ASTM simulated atmospheric water. The corrosion potential of carbon steel electrode shifted to a negative direction when BMMCH was joined …

Extended Hough Methodology In Geo-Spatial Image Exploitation, Rufus H. Cofer, Samuel Peter Kozaitis, Jihun Cha
Extended Hough Methodology In Geo-Spatial Image Exploitation, Rufus H. Cofer, Samuel Peter Kozaitis, Jihun Cha
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications
Hough transform theory provides a heuristically appealing approach toward finding lineal features in imagery. Unfortunately direct algorithmic implementation of its theory results in many practical problems. We provide two interlocking theoretical extensions to greatly enhances the Hough transform's ability to handle finite lineal features and allow directed search for parallel lines within the scene while balancing memory and computational complexity. Both extensions involve expansion of the Hough space concept to allow easier access to processed data for both dedicated silicon and general-purpose computer implementations.
Linear Feature Detection Of Rural Imagery Using Multiresolution Filters, Samuel Peter Kozaitis, Rufus H. Cofer
Linear Feature Detection Of Rural Imagery Using Multiresolution Filters, Samuel Peter Kozaitis, Rufus H. Cofer
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications
We detected roads in aerial imagery using a method based on lineal feature detection. Our method used the products of wavelet coefficients at several scales were to identify and locate lineal features. Using our approach effectively increased the size of the region we examined when looking for possible road pixels, and decreased the probability of false positive road pixels. Then, we used a shortest path algorithm to link road pixels to form road networks. Our approach restricted possible road network solutions based on the initial detection of road pixels. We found that our approach leads to an effective method for …

Imagery Chain Assessment For Feature Extraction, Rufus H. Cofer, Samuel Peter Kozaitis
Imagery Chain Assessment For Feature Extraction, Rufus H. Cofer, Samuel Peter Kozaitis
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications
It is shown that the image chain has important effects upon the quality of feature extraction. Exact analytic ROC results are given for the case where arbitrary multivariate normal imagery is passed to a Bayesian feature detector designed for multivariate normal imagery with a diagonal covariance matrix. Plots are provided to allow direct visual inspection of many of the more readily apparent effects. Also shown is an analytic tradeoff that says doubling background contrast is equal to halving sensor to scene distance or sensor noise. It is also shown that the results provide a lower bound to the ROC of …
Wavelet-Based Image Compression Using Perceptual Distortion Metric, Hemen Goswami, Samuel Peter Kozaitis
Wavelet-Based Image Compression Using Perceptual Distortion Metric, Hemen Goswami, Samuel Peter Kozaitis
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications
Bits are allocated to various subbands to minimize a particular cost function to achieve compression in subband coding. The most common cost function is the L2 norm based on mean squared error (MSE). However, the MSE often fails to correspond to the perceptual quality of the image, especially at low bit rate. In this paper, we allocate bits into various subbands by minimizing the Minkowsky metric - a commonly used perceptual distortion measure. We then design the quantizer for each subband independent of each other based on the allocated bits. Experimental results indicate improved perceptual quality for the compressed images …

Makara Journal of Technology
Powerline Communication (PLC) Systems intents to use the mains network in vehicles for high-speed data transmission. Carrier frequencies in the range of MHz are required to establish data rates of some megabits per second. In this paper, typical reference channels extracted from channel measurements are presented and computation results of their capacities according to Shannon’s theorem are presented. Furthermore, the effect of limitations of frequency range and power spectral density of transmitted signal on achievable capacity is investigated. This paper outlines an assessment for theoretical channel capacity and achievable data rates of vehicular PLC transmission schemes. Finally, EMC (Electromagnetics Compatibility) …
