This CNC Torch cuts steel plate. It can cut up to a maximum area of 3x3 feet. The user builds a cut list on the touchscreen from a selection of predefined shapes and enters the parameters need for each shape. This project provides an overview for building a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) core on a Digilent Nexys2 FPGA board. The DSP core is designed to give Cal Poly students interested in DSP and its applications to audio engineering a usable platform to perform signal processing and analytics. The Wireless Network Intrusion Detection System is a network-based intrusion detection system (IDS) that listens on a wireless network. The IDS device is a self-contained single-board-computer capable of monitoring the user’s wireless network, detecting suspicious network traffic, and reporting to the user via email. The device has two network interfaces: the wireless interface is used to monitor network traffic, and the wired interface is used to configure the system and to send out detection alerts. The system requires minimal setup, configuration, and maintenance. It is a relatively inexpensive device that tries to improve user’s situational-awareness of one’s wireless network.

The purpose of this project was to build a system to measure the voltage waveform of a discharging railgun. Another group of students had built a railgun system to simulate micro asteroid impacts in low Earth orbit. The only instrumentation available to them was an analog voltmeter attached to the capacitor banks. During the lengthy (30 to 45 minute) charging process, an analog voltmeter was more than capable of measuring the voltage. This report presents a python-based Set-top box simulation program utilizing a Simulation library called SimPy (See Appendix 1) to simulate real-time operation of a Set-top Box, or DVR. A graphical user interface, designed with PyQt4, allows a user to customize many simulation parameters such as hard drive speeds, buffer sizes, length of simulation, etc. The GUI also shows the user any errors that occur during the simulation such as buffer overflows/underflows. This project is a bike computer system built for Cal Poly’s Human Powered Vehicle Team. It was designed and built using Arduino and Android programming tools. The project consists of an Arduino Uno used to collect bike data (such as speed, temperature and GPS location) and an Android Application used to display this data in real time and save it to user profiles within the application.
