The vast development of urban areas throughout the world has substantially impacted the natural landscapes, leading to more imperviousness. Urbanization typically results in a larger amount of runoff volume, increase in flow frequency, duration and peak runoff, faster time of concentration as well as lower infiltration which will affect groundwater recharge. The stormwater runoff quality is also adversely affected in urban areas due to the pollutant loads in stormwater runoff. Satellite precipitation products (SPP) have been useful in any hydrological applications as their extensive spatial coverage and finer space and time resolutions. However, these satellite estimations exhibit large systematic and random errors which may cause large uncertainties in any hydrological applications. In this study, three advanced satellite precipitation products, i.e. CMORPH, TRMM 3B42V7, and PERSIANN are utilized in conjunction with the ground observation to investigate their performance in detecting rain, capturing storms and rainfall pattern during extreme flood events. Study was carried out in the field using infiltrometer and in the laboratory using “sprinkler model”. Studies on infiltration have always been part of hydrology and Irrigation engineering. Infiltration forms the link between surface and subsurface hydrology. Infiltrated water must be quantified and subtracted from the surface runoff in flood prediction studies and surface water management. Numerous researchers have actually incorporated infiltration into the slope stability analysis of the residual soils, e.g., Othman (1990), Affendi et. al.(1992, 1996) and Suhaimi and Abdul Rahman (1997). Modeling Techniques For Water Supply Forecasting In The Western United States, David Charles Garen

Water supply forecasting in the western United States is the prediction of the volume of water passing a given point on a stream during the primary snowmelt runoff season. Most water supply forecasts are produced from multiple linear regression models using snowpack, precipitation, and streamflow measurements as independent variables. In recent years, conceptual watershed simulation models, typically using a time step of one day, have also been used to produce these forecasts.
