Qkan - Management Of Drainage System Data With Qgis, Jörg Höttges Sep 2017

Qkan - Management Of Drainage System Data With Qgis, Jörg Höttges

Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) Conference Proceedings

Based on QGIS a database structure and a set of plugins have been developed to improve the workflow for the hydraulic design of urban drainage systems for consulting engineers. The main goal is pre- and postprocessing in combination with various commercial hydraulic simulation software packages. The plugins provide import and export functionalities, simulation result viewing and generation of longitudinal cross sections in a CAD program. All modules make intensive use of SQL based spatial functions instead of functions implemented in QGIS, because of their stability, higher flexibility and speed due to the indexing functionality. On the other hand the database …

Investigating Teenage Drivers' Driving Behavior Before And After Lag (Less Aggressive Goals) Training Program, Jingyi Zhang Nov 2014

Investigating Teenage Drivers' Driving Behavior Before And After Lag (Less Aggressive Goals) Training Program, Jingyi Zhang

Masters Theses

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death during adolescence, with the fatal crash rate per mile-driven for 16-19 years old drivers being nearly 3 times larger than the rate for drivers age 20 and older. High gravitational events among teenage drivers, such as quick starts, and hard stops, have been shown to be highly correlated with crash rates. The current younger driver training programs developed in the late 1990s, however, do not appear to be especially effective in regard to many skills which are critical to avoiding crashes. With this in mind, a simulator-based training program aimed at …

Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning Studio and Student Research and Creative Activity

Prelude to a Master Plan offers ideas, recommendations, and a toolkit to help the town chart its own path towards that future. While the teams and individual students worked to ‘drill down’ into specific topic areas, the Studio defined three basic areas in order to think about how the various assets, challenges and ideas undermine or reinforce one another. The report is loosely organized in those terms: addressing the outlying rural areas and issues specific to these places, considering one of the key growth areas that has extended from town and the conflicts that arise from the many uses occurring …

Route Choice Behavior In Risky Networks With Real-Time Information, Michael D. Razo Jan 2010

Route Choice Behavior In Risky Networks With Real-Time Information, Michael D. Razo

Masters Theses 1911 - February 2014

This research investigates route choice behavior in networks with risky travel times and real-time information. A stated preference survey is conducted in which subjects use a PC-based interactive maps to choose routes link-by-link in various scenarios. The scenarios include two types of maps: the first presenting a choice between one stochastic route and one deterministic route, and the second with real-time information and an available detour. The first type measures the basic risk attitude of the subject. The second type allows for strategic planning, and measures the effect of this opportunity on subjects' choice behavior.

Results from each subject are …
