in this study, a method for determining the concentration of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose in plant materials using Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy of Broussonetia papyrefera was developed and tested. The procedure is based on the use of calibration functions that reflect the dependence of the intensity of analytical absorption lines on the concentration of lignin (1512 cm-1) and cellulose (1450 cm-1) in standard samples; indirect correlation was used for hemicellulose. The model samples were ternary mixtures composed of lignin, bacterial cellulose and hemicellulose in different proportions. The proposed method was tested on a wide range of plant biomass samples.

This research investigates the impact of accelerated carbonation treatment on the pozzolanic reactivity of high-calcium fly ash (HFA) by monitoring the reaction heat of HFA/carbonated HFA (CFA)-calcium hydroxide (CH) blends and elucidates the underlying factors influencing the pozzolanic reactivity. The results indicate that in HFA/CFA-CH blends, CFA exhibits a comparable pozzolanic reactivity to that of HFA. This is attributed to the carbonation products accelerating the formation of MonoCarb aluminate (main) and C-S-H, compensating for the reduced heat resulting from the diminished highly reactive components after the carbonation treatment. In this work, the synthesis and the scheme for obtaining an oligomer based on epiiodhydrin with diphenylguanidine were studied, the proportions of epiiodhydrin in the initial mixture, the yield of oligomers, and the reduced viscosity were studied. The results of spectroscopic and elemental analyzes are obtained, which show that changes in the ratio of monomers have almost no effect on the iodine content in the oligomer. This is apparently due to the fact that epiiodhydrin is much more active in reactions than amino compounds. This article presents a methodology for calculating the technical, economic and environmental indicators of the developed design of a photovoltaic thermal installation with a nominal electric power of 1,2 kW and a thermal power of 2.17 kW for simultaneous production of electric energy and hot water for household needs of consumers. The capacity of the installation is 5.26 kWh of electricity and 30 liters/hour of heated water. Chitosan was synthesized from Apis Mellifera dead bees by traditional and cryogenic methods, and the degree of deacetylation, viscosity, and molecular mass of the synthesized sample was studied. Chitosan was synthesized by deacetylation of chitin under cryogenic conditions. NaOH concentration 40%, temperature 90 ± 3 °C, time 120 min. The degree of deacetylation, and molecular mass was determined using an Ubbelode viscometer. DDA was determined by conductometric titration under standard conditions. Water scarcity is a critical issue worldwide. This study explores a novel method for addressing this issue by using ductile cast iron (DCI) solid waste as an adsorbent for phosphate ions, supporting the circular economy in water remediation. The solid waste was characterized using XRD, XRF, FTIR, and particle size distribution. Wastewater samples of different phosphate ion concentrations are prepared, and the solid waste is used as an adsorbent to adsorb phosphate ions using different adsorbent doses and process time. Commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers who engage in federally prohibited activities such as not wearing safety belts, using hand-held mobile phones, or texting while driving endanger themselves and imperil the well-being of everyone who occupies the surrounding roadway environment. Our goal was to take an existing water-level measuring embedded system and upgrade the GNSS module for the purpose of getting the elevation of the device within an error of 1 cm. Main milestones for the project included deploying a successful field test at a known survey point, using software-based post processing to improve the GNSS solution point, and implementing robust hardware and software for the water-level embedded system such that it was easily scalable.

Continuous welded rail (CWR) is increasingly adopted to replace jointed track due to its superior ride quality, extended fatigue life, and reduced maintenance costs. However, the absence of joints introduces challenges, such as thermal expansion-related track buckling. Maintaining the Rail Neutral Temperature (RNT) is essential for managing rail stresses and preventing these failures. Rail anchors are employed to distribute loads from rails to ties. Cracks developed in concrete infrastructure are one of the primary mechanisms that degrade their structural integrity, which may result in structural failures. Previous research on soft elastomeric capacitors (SEC) has shown their viability for structural health monitoring of structural materials, including concrete, steel, and fiberglass composites. The SEC, or its derivative version with a corrugated geometry termed corrugated SEC or cSEC, is a parallel plate capacitor. Ballast, typically composed of large unbound aggregates with uniform gradation, is essential for the structural integrity of railroad tracks, facilitating load transfer, drainage, and ensuring stability and resilience. The mechanical behaviors of ballast, including shear resistance, resilient modulus, and permanent deformation, are critical for effective railroad design and maintenance, directly impacting track geometry. Degradation of these mechanical properties can lead to significant track-related issues, such as excessive settlement and train derailments, resulting in substantial property damage, injuries, and fatalities.
