Effect Of Fly Ash In Southeast Asia On The Properties Of Concrete, Thwe Thwe Win
Effect Of Fly Ash In Southeast Asia On The Properties Of Concrete, Thwe Thwe Win
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A wide use of fly ash (FA) as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) can result in an enhancement in its durability performance in our civil engineering applications. Although FA is either agricultural or industrial by-product and is abundant for use in cement and concrete works for many decades now, the utilization of FA still has a practical challenge. The challenge is due to variability and their heterogeneity. In Southeast Asia, fly ash is used in concrete production replacing cement as a pozzolanic material. However, there are few standard guidelines for using fly ash across the region. This study evaluates the …

Bias Correction Of Satellite Precipitation Estimates Over Thailand, Nelson Stephen Lising Ventura
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Over the years, meteorological satellite instruments have produced Satellite Precipitation Estimates (SPEs) that can supply rainfall intensity rates globally. However, these datasets do not directly reflect the actual values of ground measurements so it is imperative to correct the systematic biases of SPEs to produce reliable hydrologic models. Thus, the aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of bias correction of SPE products over Thailand. The Precipitation Estimates from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks – Cloud Classification System (PERSIANN-CCS), Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation - Near Real Time (GSMaP_NRT), and Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) …

Due to the rapid growth in demand at the port, the throughput volume cannot reach the requirement, has difficulty in unskilled worker recruitment, working hours are limited, and has limitation on the terminal area. Therefore, an automated system is planned to replace the conventional container operations; this will also support the Port Authority of Thailand's encouragement of using automation technology. Along with the increasing the level of port development and enhancement of the container terminal port to be competitive in the world trade arena by developing …
Identifying, Analyzing, And Managing Challenges In Administering Construction Contracts Of Large Public Projects In Bhutan, Tandin Gyem
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Construction projects encompass three major phases: pre-construction, construction, and post-construction. Although various problems are inevitable in every phase, most of them occur during construction and can be mitigated by adopting a good construction contract for project management. A construction contract is a formal agreement between the project owner and the construction contractor. An important contract document is the conditions of contract (COC), which encompass the rules and regulations for administering the contract. In Bhutan, all public construction projects are mandated to follow the Bhutan Standard Bidding Documents for Procurement of Works 2019 and the form of General Conditions of Contract …

Carbon-Based Interlayers In Perovskite Solar Cells, Aleksandr P. Litvin, Xiaoyu Zhang, Kevin Berwick, Anatoly V. Fedorov, Weitao Zheng, Alexander V. Baranov
Articles
Perovskites are solution-processed, high-performance semiconductors of interest in low-cost photovoltaics. The interfaces between the perovskite photoactive layers and the top and bottom contacts are crucial for efficient charge transport and minimizing trapping. Control of the collection of charge carriers at these interfaces is decisive to device performance. Here, we review recent progress in the realization of efficient perovskite solar cells using cheap, easily processed, stable, carbon-based interlayers. Interface materials including graphene, carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, graphene quantum dots and carbon dots are introduced and their influence on device performance is discussed.

Research outputs 2014 to 2021
The robustness and accuracy of Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) models was investigated for complex turbulent flow in an open channel receiving lateral inflow, also known as spatially varied flow with increasing discharge (SVF). The three RANS turbulence models tested include realizable k–ε, shear stress transport k–ω and Reynolds stress model based on their prominence to model jets in crossflows. Results were compared to experimental laser Doppler velocimetry measurements from a previous study. RANS results in the uniform flow region and farther from the jet centreline were more accurate than within the lateral inflow region. On the …

Despite the efforts and commitments made, their performance is still observed to be low, this has been linked to the low level of understanding of practitioners. Also noted was the lack of interest by firms due to the uncertainty of the benefits of committing to long term investments. Nevertheless, academic literature and reports have stated that firms nowadays utilise their procurement mechanism to drive their sustainability practice. However, there is a gap in understanding how construction firms adopt and embed sustainability in …
Seismic Design Optimization Of Steel Structures Using Genetic Algorithm, Tiancheng Wang
Seismic Design Optimization Of Steel Structures Using Genetic Algorithm, Tiancheng Wang
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-2023
Current seismic codes do not incorporate a well-established methodology for the selection of passive dampers type and their topological distribution and properties along the height of structures. Achieving the intended performance is made more complicated when structures are subject to extreme events and operate well within their inelastic range. This thesis utilizes a self-organizing genetic algorithm (soGA) with probabilistic gene-by-gene crossover and an adaptive active ground motion subset scheme to efficiently find optimal designs of low-rise steel frames subject to large number of extreme ground motions. Different types of passive dampers were considered, while the steel frames were modeled using …

Investigation Of Recurrent Neural Network Architectures Based Deep Learning For Short-Term Traffic Speed Forecasting, Armando Fandango
Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-2023
The availability of large tranches of data and its influence on traffic flow, make the problem of short-term traffic speed prediction very complex in nature. For more than 40 years, various statistical time series forecasting methods have been applied for traffic speed prediction, and in the last 20 years, machine learning-based methods have gained prevalence. However, more recently, recurrent neural network (RNN) based methods have emerged to show better results for traffic speed prediction\cite{tian2015pred, zhao2017lstm,fu2017usin,chen2016long,dai2017deep,dai2019deep, kanestrom2017traf,shao2016traf,jia2017traf}. As the interest in applying RNN models to the traffic speed predictions started to grow, we found some critical and important unanswered questions with …
