A recreational trail, located in Katy Trail State Park, Missouri, experienced wash out due to historic floods during the spring and summer of 2019. The wash out has become a new water way that needs to be crossed by a trail for walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and equestrians. A steel bridge has been chosen by the local government to solve this problem due to its versatility, ease of prefabrication, ability for rapid erection, superior strength to weight ratio, durability, and high level of recycled content.

Highway 89/91 is a major arterial connecting Brigham City to Cache Valley through Wellsville Canyon. There are several existing underpass wildlife crossings along the route that are infrequently used by deer and other large wildlife. The Utah Division of Wildlife wishes to improve wildlife crossings in the area because the underpass crossings have some of the lowest usage rates in Utah. Due to the abundance of wildlife in Wellsville Canyon, the stretch of Highway 89/91 experiences frequent wildlife-vehicle collisions.

The JBS meat processing facility in Hyrum, UT, requested an engineering assessment and design for a safe pedestrian route from JBS’s west employee parking lot to the inside of the JBS facility. JBS employs over 1000 people many of whom park their vehicles in the company’s west employee parking lot. JBS employees currently must cross 1200 west from the west parking lot via a crosswalk with faded paint and frequent traffic traveling at speeds of 40-45 mph. The economic growth requires a need for more capacity of overnight stay. Within the rural area, it is home to diverse scenery that attracts millions of visitors every year around the world. Royal Developments plans to develop an RV park and cabins with JCR Engineering in the Bicknell area for visitors to stay.

North Davis Sewer District (NDSD) wastewater treatment plant must alter their treatment process to reduce total phosphorus (TP) and total inorganic nitrogen (TIN) in their effluent. NDSD treats ~19 MGD using biotowers and trickling filters then discharges final effluent to Farmington Bay (FB) of the Great Salt Lake (GSL) (Figure 1).
Alterations to NDSD’s treatment process must meet lower TIN and TP standards by year 2020 while planning for population increases through year 2050. Relocation of NDSD’s outfall from FB to Gilbert Bay (GB) would allow NDSD to meet less stringent standards.

Fish Lake, located in Fishlake National Forest, has restricted access to shoreline fishing opportunities because of an invasive weed called Eurasian Milfoil. The National Forest Service plans to address this issue by providing fishing opportunities to visitors beyond the weed line, which requires access 100 feet out from the shoreline.
In addition to providing improved fishing access, the Forest Service wants to develop the site with a parking lot, sidewalk, and restroom. The parking lot needs to accommodate at least 26 vehicles and fit in the narrow strip of land between the existing highway and Fish Lake.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) hired Starry Night Engineering to design a campground North of exit 131 on I-70. The site is located near the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area and is open for public use. BLM is concerned about insufficient traffic regulations and harm to vegetation and other natural resources due to the recent surge of recreational use in the San Rafael Swell area. RVs and off-road vehicles are the predominate source in the area.

The purpose of the Dry Canyon Well project is to provide an additional water supply to Smithfield City. Smithfield City anticipates a 100% increase in population over the next 40 years. To accommodate the future demand, Smithfield City hired T&S Engineers to design a well. To attract people from around Utah to visit Garley Reservoir, JDE has partnered with Trail Blazing Development Engineering (TBD) to design an outdoor recreation area. To accommodate diversity, plans for the recreational area included a road connecting a day-use area, a traditional campground, and an RV campground. This project provides the USU Concrete Canoe (USUCC) team a design for a concrete canoe to submit to the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC). The competition requires a design provided through a technical proposal and prototype. Viking Engineering (ViE) provides canoe design, concrete mix design, technical assistance for the competition’s proposal, and prototype construction, which includes demolding. Pressure vessels are very common pieces of equipment in industry and they are used for a variety of applications. It is standard in industry to rest pressure vessels on load cells. For some special cases, the pressure vessels are rested on load cells instead of solid foundation. Pressure vessels and their loadcells are generally designed for static environmental conditions and loading and tend to experience adverse effects when exposed to dynamic environments, such as hurricanes and earthquakes. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has identified secondary crashes (SCs) on United States (US) highways as one of the core transportation issues that needs to be addressed. These crashes contribute to increased property damage, injuries, and fatalities and a decline in traffic flow conditions on freeways and adjacent arterials. Identifying factors associated with older pedestrian fatalities is key to implementing strategies aimed at improving pedestrian safety. This study focused on investigating the leading risk factors for older pedestrian fatalities at Florida roadway intersections. Analyses consisted of a Bayesian logistic regression (BLR) model to identify significant factors influencing pedestrian fatality, followed by a Bayesian Network (BN) model to identify the leading cause of pedestrian fatality among the statistically significant risk factors. Land cover classification with the focus on chlorophyll-rich vegetation detection plays an important role in urban growth monitoring and planning, autonomous navigation, drone mapping, biodiversity conservation, etc. Conventional approaches usually apply the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) for vegetation detection. The National Forest Service proposed the reconstruction of a pedestrian bridge leading to the Logan Canyon Hobbit Caves. At the proposed location the previous bridge foundation failed leading to unsafe conditions.
Currently visitors must cross the creek on foot to access the Hobbit Caves. This disrupts the local habitat. This also creates a hazard for the public due to high variance in flow rate and water level of the creek. A new location was selected and the design criteria was created based upon this new location.

งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาการนำเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพมาใช้เป็นแหล่งสารอินทรีย์คาร์บอนและตัวกลางในถังปฏิกรณ์ชีวภาพแอน็อกซิกชนิดเบดเคลื่อนที่ โดยเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพ 3 ชนิดที่ใช้ในการทดลอง ได้แก่ PLA, PHBV และ PBS แบ่งการทดลองออกเป็น 3 ช่วง การทดลองช่วงแรกศึกษาสมบัติทางกายภาพของเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพ พบว่าพลาสติกชีวภาพชนิด PBS มีสมบัติความชอบน้ำ ขณะที่ PLA และ PHBV ไม่ชอบน้ำ ผลการละลายน้ำของเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพพบว่า PBS ตรวจพบสารอินทรีย์คาร์บอนละลายในน้ำประปาและน้ำปราศจากไอออน เพิ่มขึ้นสูงกว่า PLA และ PHBV ตามลำดับ เมื่อทดสอบการดูดซับไนเตรทของเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพ พบว่าที่ค่า พีเอชในช่วงที่มากกว่า 4 พื้นผิวของเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพทั้ง 3 ชนิดจะแสดงประจุเป็นลบ จึงไม่พบการดูดซับหรือดูดติดผิวของไนเตรทบนตัวกลาง การทดลองช่วงที่สองศึกษาประสิทธิภาพการกำจัดไนเตรทในถังปฏิกรณ์ชีวภาพแอน็อกซิกชนิดเบดเคลื่อนที่เมื่อทำการเดินระบบแบบทีละเท พบว่าเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพชนิด PHBV และ PBS มีประสิทธิภาพการกำจัดไนเตรทมากกว่าร้อยละ 90 ในขณะที่ PLA กำจัดไนเตรทได้เพียงร้อยละ 48 เมื่อทำการศึกษาค่าจลนพลศาสตร์การกำจัดไนเตรท พบว่ากระบวนการดีไนตริฟิเคชันที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นปฏิกิริยาอันดับศูนย์ ความเข้มข้นไนเตรทคงเหลือของการทดลองแบบทีละเทเข้าใกล้ศูนย์ที่ระยะเวลา 12 และ 15 ชม. ตามลำดับ เมื่อใช้เม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพชนิด PHBV และ PBS เป็นแหล่งสารอินทรีย์คาร์บอน การทดลองช่วงสุดท้ายเป็นการเดินระบบแบบต่อเนื่องในถังปฏิกรณ์ชีวภาพแอน็อกซิกชนิดเบดเคลื่อนที่ ผลการทดลองพบว่าถังปฏิกรณ์ที่บรรจุเม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพ มีประสิทธิภาพการกำจัดไนเตรทที่สภาวะคงตัวเท่ากับร้อยละ 12.87±4.92, 8.11±5.31, 12.33±8.37 และ 84.83±4.58 มีระยะเวลากักน้ำ 12, 16, 20 และ 24 ชม. ตามลำดับ โดยจลนพลศาสตร์ของการกำจัดไนเตรทจัดเป็นปฏิกิริยาอันดับหนึ่ง เนื่องจากมีปริมาณของสารอินทรีย์คาร์บอนในระบบอย่างจำกัด ทำให้ปฏิกิริยาดีไนตริฟิเคชันเกิดได้ช้าลง ขณะที่เมื่อใช้เม็ดพลาสติกชีวภาพ PBS เป็นแหล่งอินทรีย์คาร์บอน ถังปฏิกรณ์ที่บรรจุตัวกลางดังกล่าวมีประสิทธิภาพการกำจัดไนเตรทร้อยละ 99.47±0.52, 99.34±1.83, 100 และ 98.91±0.95 ที่ระยะเวลากักน้ำ 12, 8, 4 และ 2 ชม. ตามลำดับ เนื่องจากในระบบมีสารอินทรีย์คาร์บอนเพียงพอต่อการเกิดกระบวนการดีไนตริฟิเคชันจึงทำให้ปฏิกิริยาเกิดขึ้นได้อย่างสมบูรณ์

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความต้านทานการไหลในคลองที่มีขยะและผักตบชวาลอยบนผิวน้ำ โดยศึกษาในห้องปฏิบัติการและทดลองในรางน้ำเปิดหน้าตัดสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้า ขนาด 0.60 × 18.0 × 0.75 ม. ที่มีการไหลเวียนของน้ำ ในห้องปฏิบัติการแบบจำลองชลศาสตร์และชายฝั่งทะเล ภาควิชาวิศวกรรมแหล่งน้ำ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย การศึกษานี้ได้จำลองขยะที่ลอยอยู่บนผิวน้ำด้วยวัสดุพลาสติกถ่วงน้ำหนักและไม้ จำนวน 75 การทดลอง และผักตบชวา 50 การทดลอง ในการทดลองยังได้เปลี่ยนแปลงความลาดท้องน้ำ (S0) 3 ค่า (0, 0.0001 และ 0.0002) โดยข้อมูลความลึกการไหลในรางน้ำอยู่ระหว่าง 0.45 ม. ถึง 0.60 ม. และอัตราการไหลของน้ำอยู่ระหว่าง 7.87 ลิตรต่อวินาที ถึง 16.15 ลิตรต่อวินาที ผลการศึกษานี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า ขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวาส่งผลให้ระดับน้ำเพิ่มขึ้น และยังพบว่าทางน้ำที่มีขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวา ทำให้ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์ความขรุขระของทางน้ำเปิด (n) เพิ่มขึ้นสูงสุดประมาณ 450% และ 375% ตามลำดับ ระยะการลอยและความลึกจมของขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวาที่เพิ่มขึ้น ส่งผลให้ค่า n เพิ่มขึ้น ในขณะที่ขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวา ส่งผลต่อค่าสัมประสิทธิ์อัตราการไหลผ่านประตู (Cd) ลดลงสูงสุดประมาณ 0.56% และ 0.54% ตามลำดับ ระยะการลอยและความลึกจมของขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวาที่เพิ่มขึ้น ส่งผลให้ค่า Cd ลดลง นอกจากนี้พบว่าที่ความลึกจมของขยะลอยน้ำและผักตบชวาเท่ากัน ขยะลอยน้ำส่งผลต่อการเพิ่มขึ้นของค่า n และการลดลงของ Cd มากกว่าผักตบชวา

งานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอการจำลองการเติบโตของรอยร้าวล้าภายใต้สภาวะโหมดผสมในแผ่นเหล็กและการทำนายอายุความล้าโดยใช้วิธีเอกซ์เทนเด็ดไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์ โดยในการจำลองการเติบโตของรอยร้าวล้าได้ใช้วิธี interaction integral ในการวิเคราะห์ค่าตัวประกอบความเข้มของความเค้น และใช้สมการของปารีสในการกำหนดอัตราการเติบโตของรอยร้าวล้า ภายหลังการตรวจสอบความเหมาะสมของผลจากแบบจำลองไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์กับงานวิจัยก่อนหน้า ได้ใช้แบบจำลองเพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลกระทบต่ออายุความล้าและวิถีรอยร้าวของแผ่นเหล็กที่มีรอยร้าวที่ขอบภายใต้โหมดผสม ได้แก่ 1. มุมเอียงของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้น 2. อัตราส่วนหน่วยแรงเฉือนต่อหน่วยแรงตั้งฉาก 3. ขนาดของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นและ 4. การซ่อมแซมด้วยการติดแผ่นเหล็กด้านข้าง จากผลการจำลองพบว่า ในการศึกษาผลกระทบมุมเอียงของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นแสดงให้เห็นว่าวิถีการเติบโตของรอยร้าวมีทิศเบี่ยงลงเมื่อเทียบกับวิถีรอยร้าวของโหมด 1 ในทุกกรณีของมุมเอียงและอายุความล้ามีค่าเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญเมื่อมุมเอียงของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นมากกว่า 45 องศา ภายใต้แรงกระทำแบบผสม ค่าอัตราส่วนหน่วยแรงเฉือนต่อหน่วยแรงตั้งฉากส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงกับอายุความล้า เมื่อกำหนดให้ค่าอัตราส่วนหน่วยแรงเฉือนต่อหน่วยแรงตั้งฉากมีค่าเท่ากับ 0 0.1 0.25 0.5 1.0 1.5 และ 2.0 ตามลำดับ โดยที่ให้ค่าหน่วยแรงตั้งฉากมีค่าคงที่เท่ากับ 10 MPa พบว่าค่าอัตราส่วนหน่วยแรงเฉือนต่อหน่วยแรงตั้งฉากมีค่ามากขึ้นจะทำให้อายุความล้ามีค่าลดลงอย่างมากและเมื่อแรงเฉือนมีค่าเพิ่มขึ้นส่งผลให้วิถีรอยร้าวมีทิศทางเบี่ยงลงมากขึ้นเมื่อเทียบกับแนวราบ เนื่องจากตัวประกอบความเข้มของความเค้นในโหมด 2 (KII) มีค่ามากขึ้นทำให้มุมการเติบโตของรอยร้าวมีค่ามากขึ้นตามไปด้วย การศึกษาผลกระทบของขนาดของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นพบว่ามีผลกระทบโดยตรงกับอายุความล้า โดยที่ขนาดของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นมีค่าเท่ากับ 5 10 และ 15 mm เมื่อขนาดของรอยร้าวเริ่มต้นมีค่ามากขึ้นจะทำให้อายุความล้ามีค่าลดลง จากปัจจัยทั้งสามที่ศึกษาทำให้ทราบถึงพฤติกรรมการเติบโตของรอยร้าวและปัจจัยที่ส่งผลกระทบต่ออายุความล้าของแผ่นเหล็กภายใต้แรงกระทำแบบโหมดผสม นำไปสู่การซ่อมแซมด้วยการติดแผ่นเหล็กเสริมด้านข้างเป็นการซ่อมแซมที่ทำให้อายุความล้าเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและรูปแบบการซ่อมแซมที่ดีที่สุดคือการเสริมเฉพาะที่ขอบด้านที่พบรอยร้าว (ด้านที่มีรอยร้าวเริ่มต้น) รองลงมาคือการเสริมที่ขอบทั้งสองด้านและสุดท้ายคือการเสริมเฉพาะที่ขอบด้านที่ไม่พบรอยร้าว (ด้านที่อยู่ตรงข้ามกับรอยร้าวเริ่มต้น) จะช่วยทำให้อายุความล้ามีค่าเพิ่มขึ้นน้อยที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับอีกทั้งสองรูปแบบในกรณีรับแรงกระทำแบบผสม

ปัจจุบันโครงการโครงสร้างพื้นฐานที่ใช้รูปแบบสัญญาร่วมลงทุนระหว่างภาครัฐและเอกชนหรือที่เรียกว่า Public-Private Partnership (PPP) มักประสบปัญหาการก่อสร้างที่ล่าช้าไปจากระยะเวลาสัญญา ทั้งนี้ความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้างอาจส่งผลกระทบต่อผู้ที่มีส่วนได้เสียของโครงการ ดังนั้นการที่มีเครื่องมือในการติดตามและแจ้งเตือนล่วงหน้าสำหรับความเสี่ยงที่เกิดจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้าง นับเป็นส่วนสำคัญที่จะช่วยให้โครงการโครงสร้างพื้นฐานประสบความสำเร็จมากขึ้น จึงเป็นที่มาของการทำวิทยานิพนธ์ซึ่งมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ความเสี่ยงที่เกิดจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้าง สำหรับโครงการที่ใช้สัญญารูปแบบ PPP และเพื่อประเมินผลกระทบจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้างในรูปของตัวเงินต่อผู้มีส่วนได้เสียอันประกอบด้วย เอกชนผู้รับสัมปทาน ภาครัฐเจ้าของโครงการ และภาคประชาชน โดย Kalman Filter Forecasting Method (KFFM) ถูกนำมาใช้เป็นเครื่องมือสำหรับการพยากรณ์ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างที่คาดว่าจะใช้นับจากปัจจุบันจนโครงการแล้วเสร็จ และระยะเวลาก่อสร้างที่พยากรณ์ได้จะถูกนำไปใช้ในการประเมินมูลค่าผลกระทบทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ต่อผู้มีส่วนได้เสียที่เกิดจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้าง โดยใช้แบบจำลองทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ที่ถูกพัฒนาขึ้นในวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ ผลการพยากรณ์ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างของโครงการกรณีศึกษาด้วย KFFM พบว่า ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างที่เป็นไปได้มีค่าเฉลี่ยตั้งแต่ 41.4 เดือน ถึง 54.6 เดือน ซึ่งมากกว่าระยะเวลาก่อสร้างที่ระบุไว้ในสัญญา 39 เดือน เมื่อนำผลการพยากรณ์ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างมาประเมินโอกาสที่โครงการจะก่อสร้างเสร็จภายในระยะเวลาสัญญา พบว่ามีโอกาสสูงสุดที่ร้อยละ 10 เท่านั้น นอกจากนี้ผลการคาดการณ์ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างด้วย KFFM ยังถูกนำมาใช้ประเมินมูลค่าผลกระทบจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้างเช่นกัน ทั้งนี้ระยะเวลาก่อสร้างที่คาดการณ์ด้วย KFFM และมูลค่าผลกระทบที่ประเมินได้เป็นเพียงการประมาณการเท่านั้น ไม่ใช่มูลค่าที่แท้จริงที่จะเกิดขึ้นอย่างแน่นอนในอนาคต อย่างไรก็ตามเครื่องมือที่ได้นำเสนอในวิทยานิพนธ์นี้สามารถนำไปใช้ในการแจ้งเตือนถึงความเสี่ยงที่เกิดจากความล่าช้าในการก่อสร้างล่วงหน้า ซึ่งจะช่วยให้ผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องรับรู้ถึงระดับความเสี่ยงในขณะนั้น รวมไปถึงมูลค่าผลกระทบที่คาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้น ซึ่งสามารถช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการดำเนินโครงการได้

งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ปัจจัยทางกายภาพที่ส่งผลต่อการใช้งานสกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้าบนถนนและทางเท้าในพื้นที่กรุงเทพมหานคร เนื่องจากปัจจุบันแนวโน้มผู้ใช้งานสกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้ามีจำนวนเพิ่มสูงขึ้น ทำให้อัตราการเกิดอุบัติเหตุมีแนวโน้มที่จะสูงขึ้นด้วย และประเทศไทยยังไม่มีกฎหมายที่ชัดเจนเกี่ยวกับพาหนะชนิดนี้ ในการศึกษานี้ได้ใช้ข้อมูลจากการทดสอบของอาสาสมัครผู้ใช้สกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้าจำนวน 22 คน ในเส้นทางที่กำหนดไว้ 46 เส้นทาง ซึ่งมีลักษณะเส้นทางและองค์ประกอบที่แตกต่างกันไป เพื่อประเมินคะแนนความรับรู้ความพึงพอใจในด้านความสะดวกสบาย ความเร็ว ความปลอดภัย และระดับโดยรวมของการใช้งานสกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้า โดยอาศัยการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลแบบแผงด้วยแบบจำลองการถดถอยโลจิสติกแบบเรียงลำดับ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ในส่วนของถนน ปัจจัยทางกายภาพที่ส่งผลต่อความสะดวกสบาย คือ พื้นผิวไม่มีความเสียหาย ไม่มีหรือมีสิ่งกีดขวางบนพื้นผิวน้อยกว่า 3 เมตร มีช่องทางจักรยาน ทางตรง และความเร็วกระแสจราจร ขณะที่ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อความเร็ว คือ พื้นผิวไม่มีความเสียหาย มีช่องทางจักรยาน และพื้นผิวลาดยาง ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อด้านความปลอดภัย คือ มีช่องทางจักรยาน เส้นแบ่งช่องทางมีความชัดเจน ปริมาณกระแสจราจร และความต่อเนื่อง ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อระดับโดยรวม คือ มีช่องทางจักรยาน และปริมาณกระแสจราจร ส่วนการใช้งานสกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้าบนทางเท้า ปัจจัยทางกายภาพที่ส่งผลต่อความสะดวกสบาย คือ พื้นผิวไม่มีความเสียหาย และพื้นผิวลาดยาง ส่วนปัจจัยความรู้สึกรับรู้อีก 3 ปัจจัย มีเพียงปัจจัยวัสดุพื้นผิวที่ส่งผล ทั้งนี้พบว่าปัจจัยด้านความปลอดภัยส่งผลต่อระดับโดยรวมของการใช้งานบนถนนมากที่สุด ส่วนทางเท้าเป็นปัจจัยด้านความสะดวกสบายที่ส่งผลต่อระดับโดยรวมมากที่สุด ผลที่ได้จากการวิเคราะห์นี้นำมาซึ่งแนวทางในการออกแบบปรับปรุงหรือคัดเลือกเส้นทางที่มีความเหมาะสมของการใช้งานสกู๊ตเตอร์ไฟฟ้า ซึ่งหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องสามารถใช้ในการจัดทำคู่มือและแผนที่แนะนำเส้นทางในพื้นที่ได้ต่อไป

การนำวัสดุจากชั้นทางเดิมมาทำการปรับปรุงคุณภาพแล้วนำกลับมาใช้ใหม่แบบผสมเย็นมีการใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายในการก่อสร้างทางและการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพของชั้นพื้นทาง ซึ่งทฤษฎี Shakedown ได้รับการพัฒนาขึ้นเพื่ออธิบายถึงวัสดุและการตอบสนองของโครงสร้างทางต่อการทดสอบภายใต้หน่วยแรงกระทำซ้ำ โดยการทดสอบวัสดุภายใต้หน่วยแรงกระทำซ้ำเป็นวิธีการหนึ่งที่ใช้ศึกษา โมดูลัสคืนตัว ความต้านทานการล้า และการยุบตัวถาวร การผันแปรของอุณหภูมิเป็นอีกปัจจัยหนึ่งที่จะเป็นตัวบ่งชี้ถึงพฤติกรรมของวัสดุ ที่มีความสำคัญร่วมกับปัจจัยด้านรูปแบบของแรงกระทำซ้ำ ผลของการศึกษาพบว่าเมื่อวัสดุโครงสร้างทางเดิมปรับปรุงด้วยบิทูเมนอิมัลชัน (bitumen stabilized material, BSM) มีการผันแปรอุณหภูมิที่สูงขึ้น ความต้านทานการเสียรูปและโมดูลัสคืนตัวของวัสดุจะมีค่าลดลง นอกจากนั้นวัสดุ BSM ที่ใช้ซีเมนต์เป็นสารผสมเพิ่มร่วม จะสามารถรับน้ำหนักของหน่วยแรงกระทำซ้ำและมีค่าโมดูลัสคืนตัวดีกว่าวัสดุ BSM ที่ไม่ใช้ซีเมนต์เป็นสารผสมเพิ่มร่วม ทั้งนี้พฤติกรรมของวัสดุ BSM มีการตอบสนองเป็น plastic เมื่อได้รับแรงกระทำซ้ำจนถึง 1 ล้านรอบการทดสอบ โดยมี permanent strain rate ลดลงอย่างรวดเร็วจนวัสดุมีพฤติกรรมเป็น purely elastic สามารถจัดอยู่ในช่วง Plastic Shakedown หากวัสดุมี permanent strain rate ลดลงแบบค่อยเป็นค่อยไป แต่ permanent strain มีการเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องในแต่ละรอบการทดสอบจนนำไปสู่การวิบัติในรอบการทดสอบที่ต่ำ พฤติกรรมของวัสดุสามารถจัดอยู่ในช่วง Incremental Collapse

งานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอการวิเคราะห์หาค่าตัวประกอบความเข้มของความเค้น (SIF) สำหรับคานเหล็กหน้าตัดรูปตัวไอที่มีรอยร้าวที่ปีกแบบสมมาตรภายใต้แรงดึงหรือแรงดัดทั้งที่ไม่มีและมีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ ด้วยวิธีไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์ จากการศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างค่า SIF และความยาวรอยร้าวที่ปีกหรือเอว พบว่าเมื่อความยาวรอยร้าวที่ปีกหรือเอวมีค่ามากขึ้นจะส่งผลกระทบให้ค่า SIF (ที่ปีก) กรณีรับแรงดึง สูงกว่ากรณีรับแรงดัด ในขณะที่ค่า SIF (ที่เอว) กรณีรับแรงดัดมีค่าสูงกว่ากรณีรับแรงดึง ทั้งที่ไม่มีและมีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ และการศึกษาผลกระทบของมิติคานเหล็ก พบว่าอัตราส่วนระหว่างพื้นที่หน้าตัดของปีกทั้งหมดต่อพื้นที่หน้าตัดของแผ่นเอวส่งผลกระทบต่อค่า SIF กรณีที่ไม่มีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ มากกว่าค่า SIF กรณีที่มีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ และในทางกลับกันอัตราส่วนระหว่างความลึกของคานต่อความกว้างของปีก ส่งผลกระทบต่อค่า SIF กรณีที่มีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ มากกว่าค่า SIF กรณีที่ไม่มีการซ่อมแซมด้วยแผ่นปะ ทั้งที่ปีกและเอวภายใต้แรงดึงหรือแรงดัด ในขณะที่ความหนาและมอดุลัสของชั้นกาวส่งผลกระทบให้ค่า SIF ลดลงเพียงเล็กน้อย สุดท้ายงานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอสมการทำนายค่า SIF โดยสมการที่นำเสนอได้พัฒนาจากการวิเคราะห์ฐานข้อมูล SIF กว่า 43740 ข้อมูล ที่ได้จากการวิเคราะห์ไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์ กว่า 21870 ครั้ง ด้วยโปรแกรมเชิงพันธุกรรม

การแพร่ระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 (COVID-19) ส่งผลให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมในการเดินทาง กล่าวคือประชาชนมีแนวโน้มหลีกเลี่ยงการเดินทางด้วยระบบขนส่งสาธารณะเพื่อลดความเสี่ยงในการติดเชื้อ และหันไปใช้รถยนต์ส่วนบุคคลซึ่งอาจส่งผลต่อประสิทธิภาพการจราจรและขนส่งในภาพรวม ทั้งนี้การใช้มาตรการป้องกันการแพร่ระบาดของ COVID-19 ที่ดีจะสามารถสร้างความเชื่อมั่นให้กับประชาชนในการใช้ระบบขนส่งสาธารณะ และลดการเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมการเดินทางไปใช้รถยนต์ได้ งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบของมาตรการป้องกัน COVID-19 ได้แก่ มาตรการด้านการกักตัว การสวมหน้ากากอนามัย การฉีดวัคซีน ปัจจัยด้านลักษณะทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคม และทัศนคติเกี่ยวกับการแพร่ระบาดของ COVID-19 ต่อการตัดสินใจเลือกรูปแบบการเดินทางในสถานการณ์สมมติที่มีเงื่อนไขของจำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อ และสัดส่วนของผู้ได้รับวัคซีนที่แตกต่างกัน โดยใช้ข้อมูลจากการสำรวจข้อมูลแบบ Stated Preference ซึ่งมีกลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นผู้ที่ใช้รถไฟฟ้าในการเดินทางและมีทางเลือกในการเดินทางเป็นรถยนต์ส่วนบุคคลหรือแท็กซี่ โดยทำการวิเคราะห์ผลกระทบของมาตรการและปัจจัยอื่น ๆ ด้วยวิธีสถิติเชิงพรรณนา และแบบจำลองโลจิตพหุนาม ในการวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตัดสินใจในการเลือกรูปแบบการเดินทางในแต่ละสถานการณ์ จากผลการศึกษานี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า หากจำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อเพิ่มขึ้น รวมถึงหากมีการผ่อนปรนมาตราการการสวมหน้ากากอนามัยขณะเดินทางและมาตรการการกักตัวผู้ที่มาจากต่างประเทศจะส่งผลให้ประชาชนหลีกเลี่ยงการใช้รถไฟฟ้าจริง ซึ่งผู้ที่มีแนวโน้มจะเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมการเดินทาง คือ ผู้เดินทางเพศชาย ผู้ที่มีผู้พักอาศัยร่วมกันที่อายุต่ำกว่า 12 ปี มีใบอนุญาตขับขี่รถยนต์ ผู้ที่คิดว่าไม่สามารถป้องกันตัวเองจากการติดเชื้อ COVID-19 ได้ ผู้ที่เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่งว่าควรมีการรณรงค์การใส่หน้ากากอนามัยในพื้นที่สาธารณะ ผู้ที่เห็นด้วยว่าไม่ควรมีการผ่อนปรนให้ทำกิจกรรมที่อาจก่อให้เกิดความเสี่ยงในการแพร่ระบาด และผู้ที่เห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่งว่าการใช้พื้นที่ร่วมกันในระบบขนส่งสาธารณะเพิ่มความเสี่ยงในการติดเชื้อ อย่างไรก็ดีหากจำเป็นต้องมีการผ่อนปรนมาตรการต่าง ๆ (มาตรการสวมหน้ากากอนามัย มาตรการการกักตัวสำหรับผู้ที่เดินทางมาจากต่างประเทศ) จำเป็นต้องมีมาตรการฉีดวัคซีนควบคู่ไปด้วยก็จะสามารถลดสามารถลดแนวโน้มที่คนจะเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบการเดินทางได้
