This paper delves into the indoor performance analysis of Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells (PSSTC) through a detailed exploration utilizing numerically modeled energy band diagrams. The primary objective is to uncover the potential of PSSTC for solar energy conversion in indoor settings. Various tandem cell configurations are scrutinized under diverse artificial lighting spectra, with an innovative Li4Ti5O12/ CsPbCl3/MAPbBr3/CH3NH3PbI3/ Si architecture achieving an exceptional maximum power conversion efficiency of 25.25%. This represents a substantial efficiency enhancement of nearly 7% compared to standalone Silicon cells. The study underscores the significance of design optimization in maximizing performance. The energy band diagram analysis reveals a …

Voltammetric Determination Of Hydrogen Peroxide At Decorated Palladium Nanoparticles/Poly 1,5- Diaminonaphthalene Modified Carbon-Paste Electrode, Ziad Khalifa, Mohamed Fathi Abo Oura, Magdi Abdelazzem, Ablah Hathoot
Chemical Engineering
In this work, palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs)/p1,5-DAN/ carbon paste electrode (CPE) and p1,5-DAN/CPE sensors have been developed for determination of hydrogen peroxide. Both sensors showed a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical behaviour, which were derived from a large specific area of poly 1,5 DAN and super excellent electroconductibility of PdNPs. PdNPs/p1,5-DAN/CPE exhibited excellent performance over p1,5-DAN/CPE. Thus, it was used for detecting hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with linear ranges of 0.1 to 250 μM and 0.2 to 300 μM as well as detection limits (S/N= 3) of 1.0 and 5.0 nM for square wave voltammetry (SWV) and cyclic voltammetry (C.V) techniques, respectively. …

This study investigates the physicochemical, optical, and electrical characterization of laser-induced graphene (LIG) samples for integration as counter electrodes in cesium lead halide perovskite solar cells. The impact of laser processing parameters on electrode performance is explored, including laser power, laser speed, and beam defocus. Density functional theory (DFT) computational modeling is employed for atomistic investigation and work function estimation, demonstrating the density of states (DOS), quantum capacitance of the graphene sheets, and energy work function. NiO is utilized as a hole transport layer, and the energy work function of LIG is tuned accordingly. SEM measurements estimate thin film porosity, …

Gum Arabic-Capped Silver Nanoparticles For Electrochemical Amplification Sensing Of Methylene Blue In River Water, Ziad Khalifa, Moustafa Zahran, Magdy Zahran, Magdi Abdelazzem
Chemical Engineering
Herein, a novel electrochemical amplification sensor is developed for detecting methylene blue (MB) us- ing gum Arabic-capped silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for the first time. Gum Arabic-AgNPs were fabricated via a direct chemical reduction technique using silver nitrate as an AgNPs precursor and gum Arabic as a reducing and capping agent. They were characterized using ultraviolet-visible (UV–Vis) spectrophotom- etry, square wave voltammetry (SWV), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). UV–Vis and SWV results show the characteristic absorption and electrochemical oxidation peaks of the AgNPs at 431 nm and 0.18 V, respectively. Additionally, TEM images of the AgNPs show that they are spherical …

Pinch analysis is a methodology for minimizing energy and mass consumption in different industries. It has been widely applied for more efficient processes. This study presents a new graphical-approach to analyze and design Mass Integration (MI) and exchange networks that follows Pinch principles to guarantee maximum mass recovery with minimum losses. This technique uses the composition driving forces in network representation as it rules the mass transfer between streams. The proposed approach can be applied on both existing mass networks as well as new ones. This graphical representation a visual descriptive design tool to describe and explain the details of …

Approximate Analytical Solution For Mathematical Models Of Thermal Ignition And Non-Isothermal Catalytic Zero Order Reaction In A Spherical Geometry, Moustafa A. Soliman
Chemical Engineering
In this paper an approximate analytical solution for the Frank-Kamenetskii equation modeling thermal ignition without the depletion of the combustibles in a spherical annulus and non-isothermal zero order reaction in spherical catalyst particle is presented. The approximate solution is compared with the numerical solution and is in good agreement with the numerical solution. The approximate solution obtained is valid for all values of the distance parameter. Multiple solutions occur for some range of Frank-Kamenetskii parameter (λ). The multiplicity is infinite for the case of a solid sphere and λ=2.Interesting relation is obtained for λ at the turning points. For the …

Model-Based Energy Analysis Of An Integrated Midrex-Based Iron/Steel Plant, Abdelhamid M. Ajbar, Khalid I. Alhumaizi, Moustafa A. Soliman, Emadadeen Ali
Chemical Engineering
This article presents modeling and simulations of an integrated plant for the production of steel using the direct reduced iron (DRI)=electric arc furnace (EAF) route. In a previous work (Alhumaizi et al., 2012), a comprehensive mathematical model of an iron plant based on MIDREX technology was developed, validated, and simulated. In this article, the model is extended to account for an empirical model of an EAF plant. Numerical simulations were carried out for the effect of different operating parameters of the integrated plant. Useful profiles as well as a summary table were compiled to illustrate the results of the sensitivity …
Approximations To The Solution Of The Frank-Kamenetskii Equation In A Spherical Geometry, Moustafa A. Soliman
Approximations To The Solution Of The Frank-Kamenetskii Equation In A Spherical Geometry, Moustafa A. Soliman
Chemical Engineering
In this paper, an approximate analytical solution for Frank-Kamenetskii equation modeling a thermal explosion in a sphere, is obtained. The approximate solution is obtained by perturbation methods in terms of small and large distance parameter. The approximate solution is compared with the numerical solution obtained from an initial value problem formulation to the original boundary value problem. The approximate solution obtained is valid for all values of the distance parameter. For the original boundary value problem and for a given Frank-Kamenetskii parameter, a nonlinear algebraic equation needs to be solved to be able to apply the approximate solution.
