Application Of Evolutionary Algorithms For Optimization Of Operation Modes Of Regional Electric Power Systems, Isamiddin Khakimovich Siddikov, Oksana Vitalevna Porubay
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The paper presents the possibilities of using evolutionary algorithms to solve the problem of optimizing the operation modes of electric power facilities in the presence of constraints in the form of inequalities and equalities. The limits of constraints have a variable character, depending on the generated and consumed energy. Existing methods used for the optimization of modes are based on general principles and approaches to optimization, which usually adapt to the specifics of the problem. In electric power facilities, optimization problems have some peculiarities, among which is the presence of multiple constraints applied to both independent and dependent variables. Many …

This lecture-based course offers limited hands-on, practical experience. To supplement the lack of hands-on experience in the classroom, a new process control experiment was designed and implemented into the Unit Operations …
Improving Lignin Recovery From Paper Mill And Biorefinery Waste Streams Via Liquid-Phase Splitting, Carter Fitzgerald
Improving Lignin Recovery From Paper Mill And Biorefinery Waste Streams Via Liquid-Phase Splitting, Carter Fitzgerald
All Dissertations
Lignin is an abundant biopolymer with significant promise due to its aromaticity. It has been targeted as a replacement for a number of petroleum-based products including adhesives, coatings, polyurethane foams, activated carbon, and carbon fibers. However, commercially available bulk lignins are too polydisperse, and contain too many residual metals from the pulping process that are detrimental to the properties of the final product.
The Sequential Liquid-lignin Recovery and Purification (SLRP) process was developed by Michael Lake and John Blackburn, in collaboration with Clemson, with the intention of creating a continuous method for recovering lignin from paper-mill black liquors. Thies and …

Review On Modifications Of Sisal Fibers For Textile Applications, Liberato V Haule
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Properties of sisal fibers such as high coarseness and poor drapability made the fibers less suitable in production of conventional textiles compared to synthetic fibers. The environmental consciousness and depletion of petrochemical resources have attracted researchers on investigating the use of natural fibers in the industrial production of conventional textiles. Sisal is among highly researched natural fibers due to its features such as strength, recyclability, availability, low processing cost, light weight and ease process ability. This paper reviews possible modifications of sisal fibers to enhance performance in conventional textiles applications

Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Faculty Research Publications
Next-generation etching processes for semiconductor manufacturing exploit the potential of a variety of operating conditions, including cryogenic conditions at which high etch rates of silicon and very low etch rates of the photoresist are achieved. Thus, tight control of wafer temperature must be maintained. However, large and fast changes in the operating conditions make the wafer temperature control very challenging to be performed using typical etch cooling systems. The selection and evaluation of control tunings, material, and operating costs must be considered for next-generation etching processes under different operating strategies. These evaluations can be performed using digital twin environments (which …

Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The problem of placing poles in linear multidimensional systems using a feedback matrix of unlimited rank is considered. The effect of output feedback of indefinite rank of the characteristic polynomial of a system with several variables is studied.
