Malaysia has one of the most established biological nitrogen removal in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) among the developing Southeast Asian countries. The current WWTPs’ design and operating guidelines in Malaysia are mainly derived from other developed countries with more experiences in operating biological nitrogen removal. These design guidelines are good practices for WWTPs in the temperate climate region, but may not be optimal for the local wastewater characteristics and tropical climate in Malaysia. Multiphase mixing is a challenging process in industries such as pharmaceutical, food and petroleum since two-different phases can be immiscible towards each other. HAZOP tool with risk assessment was used to identify the hazard and quantifying the hazards in order to prioritize the recommendations at the ECGHF. Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a promising technology for electricity generation by utilizing heat sources at low to moderate temperature that ranges between 80-350° C. In the present work, an ionic liquid (1-butylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate, C9H14NBF4), a known green chemical and non-volatile compound with good thermal and chemical stability, significant heat capacity, low vapor pressure and a wide liquid temperature range (25 to 459 °C), is utilized as a geothermal fluid. Two line pipe grade X52M and X65M were manufactured using submerged arc welding process. For each grade, two different welding flux condition were simulated, i.e. 100% new flux and 100% recycle flux. The flux used was aluminate basic type trade name OP 132. The outside diameter and wall thickness for X52M was 610mm x 12.7mm and for X65M was 762mm x 14.3mm. Lower weld re-entrant angle and higher weld bead height were observed in recycle flux condition. Lower weld manganese content recorded in recycle flux condition. The electrodeposition of tin from Tin(II) Methane Sulfonate (MSA) with varying concentration in air and water stable 1-butyl-1-methyl-pyrrolidinium trifluoromethanesulfonate, (BMPOTF) ionic liquid at room temperature was studied. Cyclic Voltammetry served to characterize the electrochemical behavior of tin reduction and oxidation. The diffusion coefficient of stannous ions in the mixture of BMPOTF ionic liquid and MSA based electrolyte obtained via Randles-Sevcik and Cottrell equation was 2 × 10-7 cm2/s. Electroplating on copper panel was conducted under different current densities to determine BMPOTF based tin plating solution current efficiency. Optimization of the Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) dry etching process parameters has been carried out. Seven main etching characteristics were considered in order to produce good etching quality. These characteristics are glass etching rates, selectivity of chromium to glass etching rate, channel side wall roughness, channel side wall vertical profile, channel cleanliness, critical dimension and resolution. A RF planar coil inductively coupled plasma system (ICPs) is setup for this project. The system is powered by a 13.56MHz, 550W, 500 RF generator. The RF power is transferred to the plasma via a planar induction coil. The impedance matching circuit consists of an air-core step-down transformer and a tunable vacuum capacitor. The typical E-H mode transition which is distinctive to the ICP has been observed in argon plasma, hydrogen plasma and hydrogen-methane admixture plasma.
