Owing to its resilience to visual noise and viewpoint variations, skeleton-based analysis has become a cornerstone of human action recognition research. Despite its practical significance, existing methodologies often suffer from a reliance on single-stream skeletal representations, which fail to encompass the full complexity of action features. This study introduces Latent Features for Human Action Recognition (LFHAR), a novel architecture designed to overcome these limitations by utilizing diverse spatio-temporal latent representations for improved feature extraction. The approach applies graph-based transformations to individual skeletal frames in temporal sequences, then arranges the derived graph features into spatio-temporal matrices. Evaluation of standard datasets demonstrates …

Despite the wide application and benefits of the degree of rate control (DRC) analysis, several details remain argued, particularly about the conservation of DRCs at transient (TR) and steady-state (SS) conditions, especially for complex reaction networks. This work argues that previous proofs about the conservation properties of DRCs have been incomplete, and we provide new mathematical proofs at TR and SS conditions. In addition, we use both analytical (automatic differentiation) and numerical (finite difference) approaches to compute DRCs for the case study of ethane hydrogenolysis (EH) over Pt(111). This work confirms that at both TR and SS conditions, the sum …

Shale gas upgrading reactions have gained much interest since production dramatically increased around 2010. These reactions occur at high temperatures (600°C +) where undesired processes like sintering and/or coking often occur. It is of interest to use materials like ceria as a catalyst support in these alkane conversion reactions, but ceria is prone to losing active surface area through sintering. It is also of interest to understand the behavior of PtMn and PtZn intermetallics for propane dehydrogenation as they have been identified as some of the best catalysts by theory-based prediction in literature. This manuscript explores ways of utilizing ceria’s …
