Control System Synthesis With Self-Adapting Regulator By Interactive Adaptation Method, Isamiddin Xakimovich Siddikov, Renata Nikolayevna Izmaylova

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The research results on the creation of a self-adapting control system for a nonlinear dynamic object based on the theory of intelligent control using interactive adaptation methods have been presented. The lack of an accurate description and the nonlinearity of the dynamic properties of the object under study, the presence of mutual influence of cross communication channels in the control circuits, as well as the influence of various types of uncertainties associated with the lack of a priori information about the process, significantly complicate the solution of the problem of synthesis of highly efficient control systems for dynamic objects, which …

Journal of Electrochemistry

Glyoxylic acid with the dual characteristics of acid and aldehyde is an important chemical raw material and organic synthesis intermediate, which is extensively used in the perfumery, pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries. A family of symmetric quaternary ammonium hydroxides (QAHs) with different alkyl chain lengths was used as the additives in generating glyoxylic acid from oxalic acid electroreduction reaction (OAER). The effects of alkyl chain length on OAER and the corresponding side reaction, i.e., hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), were investigated. Linear sweep voltammetric (LSV) results showed that the adsorption of the additives suppressed more on the HER than that on …

Journal of Electrochemistry

Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), which directly converts the chemical energy of methanol fuel into electrical energy, has the advantages of high energy conversion efficiency, environmental friendliness, and abundance of fuel sources. DMFC is considered as the promising substitutes in the field of portable devices, military applications, and stationary power stations, while the broad application is severely hindered by the sluggish kinetic of methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) in the anode and the high cost of platinum (Pt)-based anodic electrocatalysts. Herein, a series of carbon supported PtxCuy (PtxCuy/C) binary metal electrocatalysts, featured with high …

Synthesis Of Nickel Phosphide/Nitrogen Phosphorus Co-Doped Carbon And Its Application In Lithium Ion Batteries, Jian Hu, Yan-Shuang Meng, Qian-Ru Hu

Journal of Electrochemistry

In recent years, the nickel-based phosphide has drawn great attention because of its low intercalation/deintercalation platform and lower polarization compared to sulfides and oxides as anodes for next-generation high-energy lithium-ion batteries. The Ni2P anode can deliver high theoretical specific capacity of 542 mAh·g-1, but it subject to a conversion reaction mechanism, which make them unsuitable for commercial applications. The agglomeration of Ni2P nanoparticles during material fabrication and the structural deterioration of electrode associated with large volume change during charge-discharge process lead to poor cycle stability and low utilization of active materials. Meanwhile, the low …

Material And Topographically Optimized Thermal Dissipation For High-Performance Electronic Devices Utilizing Vapor Chambers, Derek Joseph Daniels

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Advances in materials science and engineering in the field of thermal transport and dissipation enable the use of higher-performance electronic devices that are smaller and generate more heat. Phase change thermal transport systems such as heat pipes and vapor chambers enable passive dissipation from devices that generate excessive heat without the need for actively pumped cooling systems. Properly designed vapor chamber enabled systems easily exceed the thermal conductivity of manufactured diamond at a small fraction of the cost.[1][2][3] While heat pipe phase change systems are generally one-dimensional with a limited cross section, vapor chambers are generally two-dimensional with a small …

Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Preferential fluid flow often occurs when water and CO2 is injected into mature oilfields, sig-nificantly reducing their injection efficiency. Particle gels have been evaluated and applied to control the short circulation problems. This study systematically investigated a novel poly(acrylamide-co-vinyl acetate)/alginate-based interpenetrated gel system (Alg-IPNG) which is designed to control the preferential fluid flow problems in high-temperature reservoirs. Chromium acetate was incorporated into the gel system to provide the delayed crosslinking feature of the particle gels. The alginate polymer system can also take advantage of the Ca2+ ions in the formation water, which exist in most reservoirs, to reinforce …

Pairing Experimental And Mathematical Modeling Studies On Fluidized Beds For Enhancement Of Models Predictive Quality: A Current Status Overview, Sebastián Uribe, Muthanna H. Al-Dahhan

Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Modeling of gas-solid fluidized systems has been a prevailing challenge over the last few decades. With different approaches and implementing different sub-models to capture the essential multiphase and multiscale phenomena in these systems, major advances have been achieved, even though most models are only subject to a practical validation of macroscopic parameters. The current description of fluidized beds through mathematical models relies on the inclusion of vast sub-models, leading to an unquantifiable degree of uncertainty on the models' applicability for extrapolation studies. Furthermore, each closure and fitting parameter in the model represents a possible source of deviation, and their optimization, …

A Reduced-Order Lumped Model For Li-Ion Battery Packs During Operation, Paul T. Coman, Eric C. Darcy, Brad Strangways, Ralph E. White

Faculty Publications

Modeling heat distribution in Li-ion battery packs can be challenging, especially if the battery pack is large and the cells are operated at high C-rates, which usually requires high-order physics-based mathematical models. Reduced and simplifying models can, however, be used at lower rates. This paper presents a fast novel reduced lumped model (RLM) that can be used to calculate the temperature increase during the high-current discharge of cylindrical Li-ion cells in a subscale of a battery pack. By reducing the PDE utilized to calculate the state of charge (SoC) to ODE's and solving them analytically, the reduced model can be …

Center for Applied Energy Research Faculty and Staff Publications

In this contribution, we examine the effect of the promoter´s ionic charge and valence orbital energy on the catalytic activity of Fe-based catalysts, based on in situ synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction (SXRPD), temperature-programmed-based techniques (TPR, TPD, CO-TP carburization), and Fischer–Tropsch synthesis catalytic testing studies. We compared the promoting effects of K (a known promoter for longer-chained products) with Ba, which has a similar ionic radius but has double the ionic charge. Despite being partially “buried” in a crystalline BaCO3 phase, the carburization of the Ba-promoted catalyst was more effective than that of K; this was primarily due to its …

Anti-Corrosion Protection Of Metal Parts Of Transportation Equipment With A Polymer Coating Based On Epoxiurethane, Aida Barkhanadjyan, Ravshan Khakimov, Botir Ibragimov, Oybek Vafayev, Dmitriy Ayrapetov Oct 2021

Anti-Corrosion Protection Of Metal Parts Of Transportation Equipment With A Polymer Coating Based On Epoxiurethane, Aida Barkhanadjyan, Ravshan Khakimov, Botir Ibragimov, Oybek Vafayev, Dmitriy Ayrapetov

CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Automotive vehicles are constantly exposed to corrosion processes, and the durability of metal parts depends on the intensity of corrosion. The loss of metals from corrosion is 8-10% of the initial metal mass. In total, losses from corrosion are 4-6% of national income in many countries. This indicates the need for research and the importance of scientific and technical work in this area. This can be achieved by developing a technology for producing anticorrosive compounds and applying them as protective coatings. The anticorrosive protection of a coating synthesized on the basis of local raw materials - epoxyurethane with an additive …
