UMR-MEC Conference on Energy / UMR-DNR Conference on Energy
This volume is a collection of refereed papers presented at the Fifth Annual UMR-DNR Conference on Energy held at the University of Missouri--Rolla on the dates of October 10 - 12, 1978.
Guided by the President's goal of energy independence by 1980, the UMR-DNR Conference on Energy organized in 1974 with the purpose of providing social scientists, scientists and engineers a means for rapid communication of their most recent research results in the field of energy and to offer solutions to the energy related problems of local government, business, industry and the general public. Since that time, there has been …
Control Of Trace Elements During The Increasing Development Of Coal For Energy, Bobby G. Wixson, Ernst Bolter
Control Of Trace Elements During The Increasing Development Of Coal For Energy, Bobby G. Wixson, Ernst Bolter
UMR-MEC Conference on Energy / UMR-DNR Conference on Energy
The question of an energy crisis continues as many people in the United States have difficulty and become confused with what seems to be a continuing excess of gasoline, oil products and questionable reporting of price increases and profit margin by energy companies. However, the majority of the scientific and engineering community, knowledgable politicians and the general public realize that the energy crisis is real. Fortunately there still remains time to practice conservation and the development of alternative and new sources of energy if the United States can unite and implement a viable energy plan.

The Operator’S Guide For Minimizing Energy Costs, Charles Dare, Frank A. Gerig
UMR-MEC Conference on Energy / UMR-DNR Conference on Energy
The consumption of petroleum by transportation activities is increasing despite the finite limits on its supply. This paper concentrates on the motor vehicle driver, his driving habits, and guides to reduced fuel consumption which would enable the individual to curtail wasteful practices with respect to vehicle operation.

Agricultural Crop Drying And Space Heating Using A Solar Energy Intensifier, M. A. Hellickson, W. H. Peterson, S. E. Saienga, J. L. Julson
UMR-MEC Conference on Energy / UMR-DNR Conference on Energy
A solar energy-intensifier-thermal energy storage system was developed and tested under actual climatic conditions in South Dakota. Performance characteristics of the system are presented for its use in drying shelled corn and for agricultural space heating. Comparisons between solar and conventional drying between solar supplemented and conventional heating are reported.

Sufficiency Conditions For Constrained Optima, Ju-Chang Huang, Robert M. Wellek
Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
Sufficiency conditions for constrained optimization problems were derived by the use of constrained second total derivatives. The results are in a simpler form than the Schechter and Beveridge relation. The sufficiency conditions of Phipps were corrected. © 1971, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
New Genera And Species Of Myripristid Fishes, In The Gulf Coast Cenozoic, Known From Otoliths (Pisces, Beryciformes)
School of Mines and Metallurgy Bulletins
Studies of fossil and Recent otoliths (sagittae) supply an important line of evidence, bearing on classification of teleost fishes, supplementary to that of anatomy, osteology, and "phylogenetic" paleoichthyology.
Squirrelfishes ( " Holocentridae" of authors) are generalized forms in which evolutionary divergence of some mag nitude is reflected in unpreservable details of anatomy, inconspicuous skeletal structures, and striking differentiation of the sagittae. Otoliths show the holocentroid complex to consist of one homogeneous unit (l\fyripristidae, elevated) and another more heterogeneous group (Holocentridae, restricted). These lineages have been separate. at least since the middle Eocene.
A revised classification, based on available lines of …
Crustacean Gastroliths From The Jackson Eocene Of Louisiana
Crustacean Gastroliths From The Jackson Eocene Of Louisiana
School of Mines and Metallurgy Bulletins
Wechesia louisianae, n. sp., is described from upper Eocene beds at Montgomery, Louisiana. Second species of the genus, it extends the range of Wechesia Frizzell and Exline from Claiborne (middle) Eocene and validates the generic diagnosis.
Spilitic Rocks And Mineral Deposits
Spilitic Rocks And Mineral Deposits
School of Mines and Metallurgy Bulletins
The principal results of research work on spilitic rocks and mineral deposits carried on since 1945 are briefly summarized. Emphasis is placed on the influence of the results on the theories of rock and ore genesis, particularly the change of "philosophy of exploration" based on the existence of hydromagmatic ore deposition. A re-classification of magmatic mineral deposits is offered.
The Decreasing Of City Garbage And Sewage Sludge, O. Henry Babcock
The Decreasing Of City Garbage And Sewage Sludge, O. Henry Babcock
Bachelors’ Theses
At the present time there seems to be no general solution of the problem of garbage and sewage sludge disposal, and the chances are that there never will be. The problem in each city is different so that no set rule can be given that will apply to every city. Therefore it is an original problem with each city, governed by certain conditions existing there.
