Prediction Of Satellite Temperature During An Orbit Of A Cubesat, Michael Reynolds
Prediction Of Satellite Temperature During An Orbit Of A Cubesat, Michael Reynolds
Honors Theses
This thesis develops a thermal-simulation strategy for predicting CubeSat component temperatures, applied to Jag-Sat-1, a CubeSat developed at the University of South Alabama and deployed from the International Space Station in 2022. The orbit was reconstructed from two-line element (TLE) data using simplified general perturbations (SGP4) propagation, and spacecraft attitude was recovered from onboard gyroscope measurements. Sunlight, penumbra, and umbra intervals were computed geometrically, and the external radiative environment — direct solar, Earth infrared, and albedo heat fluxes — was modeled using orientation-dependent view factors. These time-varying fluxes drove a transient finite-element thermal simulation of the full satellite geometry in …
An Msbe–Driven Advanced Air Mobility Post–Disaster Response System, Olabode A. Olanipekun
An Msbe–Driven Advanced Air Mobility Post–Disaster Response System, Olabode A. Olanipekun
Graduate Theses and Dissertations (2019 - present)
In this work, an overarching conceptual design model towards the realization of a proposed Advanced Air Mobility Post–Disaster Response System (AAMPDR system) was explored through the focal lenses of systems thinking (ST), socio–technical systems (STS) and model–based systems engineering (MBSE) paradigms. Initially aimed at providing intervention for casualties and aerial support to emergency rescue workers on the ground in the event of a hurricane disaster around the Gulf shore of the Mobile bay area, Mobile city, AL., the scope of this research subsequently expanded to include a global outlook. Thereafter, culminating in the development of a generalized AAMPDR system model …

Development Of New Space Systems Architecture In Sysml Using Model-Based Pattern Language, Bhushan Lohar
Development Of New Space Systems Architecture In Sysml Using Model-Based Pattern Language, Bhushan Lohar
Graduate Theses and Dissertations (2019 - present)
This manuscript presents an approach to the application of the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model-Based Systems Architecting (MBSA) principles to develop a Model-Based Pattern Language (MBPL). It takes considerable time for systems engineers and mission architects to develop a new system from scratch, particularly new space-based systems derived from the existing space system architectures. The use of a pattern language which is a holistic view of reusable logical model artifacts, can improve the process.
The main benefit of the pattern language is to reduce the time and validation required to generate a new space-based system architecture; this approach will …
