The relationships among deep learning, edge computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and the most recent advancements in digital twin (DT) technology for battery energy storage systems are discussed in this paper. The study highlights the need for improved cloud-edge coordination, AI model development, and stronger cybersecurity features by demonstrating real-world applications of digital twin technology in electric vehicles (EVs), aircraft, and grid storage. It also described DT-based structures for fault detection, real-time monitoring, and optimization through standardization and battery management system (BMS) fusion. Morphing control surface technology, inspired by organic structures and compliant mechanisms, offers significant potential for enhancing the aerodynamic efficiency and performance of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Despite these benefits, its adoption has been hindered by complexities in design, manufacturing, and installation, particularly when compared to traditional flap systems. UAVs are becoming a crucial tool in modern warfare, primarily due to their cost-effectiveness, risk reduction, and ability to perform a wider range of activities. The use of autonomous UAVs to conduct strike missions against highly valuable targets is the focus of this research. Due to developments in ledger technology, smart contracts, and machine learning, such activities formerly carried out by professionals or remotely flown UAVs are now feasible. Presented herein is a comparative performance analysis of a novel turbofan engine with an auxiliary combustion chamber, nicknamed the TurboAux engine, against a turbojet engine, and a low bypass ratio turbofan engine with an afterburner is presented. The TurboAux engine is an adaption of the low-bypass ratio turbofan engine, but with secondary combustion in an auxiliary bypass annular combustion chamber for thrust augmentation. As aircraft noise constraints become more stringent and the number/mixture of aircraft configurations grows, it becomes more important to understand the interaction of individual aircraft noise sources with nearby aircraft structures. Understanding these interactions and exploring possible approaches to mitigate or exploit their acoustic impact is essential for overcoming key noise barriers. This paper describes the further validation of a time domain boundary element approach for the prediction of the interactions between incident noise sources and nearby aircraft structures. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become critical to the design and analysis of aerospace vehicles. Parallel grid adaptation that resolves multiple scales with anisotropy is identified as one of the challenges in the CFD Vision 2030 Study to increase the capacity and capability of CFD simulation. The research reported here has examined the potential improvements in overall aircraft performance that can result from integrating skin friction reduction technology, such as riblets, early in the aircraft design cycle. This study has shown that riblets can improve the payload capacity, increase the range, and improve performance of transport aircraft. If recent advances in fabrication techniques make it possible to create aluminum wing surfaces with integral riblet geometries, the applications could be widespread and the gains significant.

These active rotors use piezoelectric actuators embedded in the skins to twist the blade to reduce vibratory loads in the fixed system. This study considered extending the operational use of pushback tractors to perform taxi-out airport ground operations for commercial aircraft as an alternative to using aircraft power plants for this operation. Pushback tractors are designed to reverse aircraft from the terminal gate to a position where the aircraft can taxi independently to the departure runway. Wake surveys are performed at a free stream velocity of 9m/s in the Old Dominion University Low-Speed Wind Tunnel. Researchers and the general public have expressed great concern over how human activities exacerbate pollution's deteriorating impact upon the environment. Effects such as global warming, air quality and ozone layer depletion are but a few examples that can have a dramatic effect on the quality of life worldwide.

In this thesis, numerical simulation of the multidisciplinary method for prediction and control of vortex induced tail buffeting is studied using delta wing-single tail configuration. Flow conditions are chosen such that wing vortex cores experience vortex breakdown and the resulting wake flow impinges on the vertical tail. The aero/structure problem is solved sequentially using three sets of equations on a multi-block grid structure. To obtain aerodynamic loading on the tail, the fluid flow around the wing-tail assembly is computed by time-accurately solving unsteady, laminar, compressible Navier-Stokes equations using an implicit, upwind, flux-difference splitting finite volume scheme.
