The introduction of virtual reality (VR) to flying training has recently gained much attention, with numerous VR companies, such as Loft Dynamics and VRpilot, looking to enhance the training process. Such a considerable change to how pilots are trained is a subject that warrants careful consideration. Examining the effect that VR has on learning in other areas gives us an idea of how VR can be suitably applied to flying training. Some of the benefits offered by VR include increased safety, decreased costs, and increased environmental sustainability. Density altitude (DA) plays a key role in flight safety because it helps pilots anticipate poor aircraft performance when temperatures are warmer than standard. In this study, a 30-year climatology of DA for the conterminous United States was created using the fifth-generation European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts atmospheric reanalysis of the global climate (ERA5) dataset was applied to four separate DA-based, aircraft-performance, rules-of-thumb for general aviation (GA) flight. Increased availability of data and computing power has allowed organizations to apply machine learning techniques to various fleet monitoring activities. Additionally, our ability to acquire aircraft data has increased due to the miniaturization of small form factor computing machines. Aircraft data collection processes contain many data features in the form of multivariate time series (continuous, discrete, categorical, etc.) which can be used to train machine learning models. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) stands as an integral component of any successful organization. Historically, society has overlooked and underplayed DEI matters, resulting in the underrepresentation of minority groups, including women and people of color. In the past decade, underrepresentation of women and other minority groups in the aviation workforce has received attention and raised concerns among industry stakeholders. The Build Digital Annual Survey 2023 examines the level of digital transformation across Ireland’s construction and built environment sector. Based on 252 responses from industry, academia, and government, the report shows that most participants were working in organisations already engaged in digital transformation, with key expected benefits including improved accuracy, operational efficiency, cost reduction, faster clash resolution, and improved scheduling. The findings indicate that many respondents had experience using digital tools and methods across common model uses, particularly capturing and representing, planning and designing, and simulating and quantifying. Superconducting nanowire devices fit a broad spectrum of applications, including particle detection and quantum computing, and their expanding use across various fields highlights their role in the hybridization of superconducting and conventional semiconductor electronics. Despite their potential, the low signal output of these devices raises challenges in scalability and integration, particularly in applications for nuclear and high-energy physics, where resilience in magnetic fields is becoming a critical optimization factor. This thesis presents the design and implementation of a smart home system leveraging the Xilinx Kria FPGA SoC platform, which integrates FPGA flexibility with Arm Cortex processing capabilities. The system architecture incorporates a network of environmental sensors for real-time monitoring, an actuator network for control of home devices, and a security camera to safeguard the premises. DNA replication can be perturbed by various agents that slow or stall the replication forks, causing replication stress. If undetected, stressed forks may collapse, causing mutagenic DNA damage or cell death. In response to replication stress and DNA damage, the eukaryotic cell activates the DNA replication checkpoint (DRC) and DNA damage checkpoint (DDC) pathways to promote DNA synthesis, repair, and cell survival. The two cell cycle checkpoint pathways are controlled by the protein sensor kinases Rad3 (hATR/scMec1) and Tel1 (hATM/scTel1) in fission yeast, although Tel1 plays a minimal role in checkpoint functions. Hardware Trojans are malicious circuits, hidden in integrated circuits (ICs) which pose a significant threat to security. Detection of hardware Trojans is important to build trust, verify, and make the semiconductor ICs process secure. The existing hardware Trojan detection methods are generally destructive, require intricate comparisons, or require a long time for reverse engineering. In the initial phase of this study, the substitution of supervised hardware Trojan detection methods in ASICs chips is explored with unsupervised approaches, thereby eliminating the dependence on golden references. Cryogenic power electronics is both advantageous and indispensable in many applications, like deep space probe, military electric vehicle, magnetic resonance imaging etc. Among different semiconductors, the gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is the most promising candidate for cryogenic applications with significant conduction loss and switching loss reductions. Moreover, there is no carrier freeze out effect for the GaN HEMTs, which is applicable in extreme low temperature operating conditions. Yankee Insulation Products will use this project to create rolls of Aluminum foil tape that are included in their Therma-Dome assembly kit. The goal of this design will aid in the streamlining and effectiveness of the current process. When designing the automated process, the current process was evaluated for areas of improvement. Supervised learning approaches in NLP, exemplified by POS tagging, rely heavily on the presence of large amounts of annotated data. However, acquiring such data often requires significant amount of resources and incurs high costs. In this work, we explore zero-shot cross-lingual transfer learning to address data scarcity issues in Filipino POS tagging, particularly focusing on optimizing source language selection. Our zero-shot approach demonstrates superior performance compared to previous studies, with top-performing fine-tuned PLMs achieving F1 scores as high as 79.10%. In the Philippines, healthcare providers, government agencies, and research institutions use data from patient prescriptions to generate reports for health planning and decision-making. However, current e-prescription systems have vulnerabilities, including erroneous information, hacking attempts, a single point of failure, and medical fraud. In addition to affecting the quality of data reporting, these issues violate a patient's rights to data privacy. One promising solution is a blockchain-based prescription system. Team conflict is a naturally emerging phenomenon resulting from individuals' interactions during project execution. Cross-disciplinary teams can experience higher levels of conflict than single-discipline teams because of the increased diversity of knowledge and perspectives. Research has shown that team conflict can emerge from different types of disagreements (cognitive and interpersonal), which have different implications for team functioning. Past empirical research has focused on the impact of both conflict types independent from each other while overlooking their combined effects. Manual finishing operations in aerospace and ground transportation industries are often associated with health-and-safety-related issues such as musculoskeletal disorders, productivity loss, and challenges in workforce renewal. This work presents an innovative automated solution to address these challenges, prioritizing the ease of implementation and affordability for small and midsize enterprises (SMEs).
