The paper utilizes a finite element method to study both the blood flow and atheromatous plaques. Specifically, the COMSOL finite element package is employed to achieve a fluid model. COMSOL is a powerful finite element tool commonly used in various research and industrial domains to study multiphysics problems. The focus of the investigation is on the geometric aspects of the atheromatous plaques. The study considers different forms and arrangements of stenosis, taking into account the irregularities formed by various shapes of the plaques and the resulting flow patterns. Antibiotic resistance poses an urgent public health concern, with the environment playing a crucial role in the development and dissemination of resistant bacteria. There is a growing body of research indicating that stormwater is a significant source and transport vector of resistance elements. This research sought to characterize the role of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI), designed for stormwater infiltration, in accumulating and propagating antibiotic resistance in the urban water cycle. Sampling included 24 full-scale GSI systems representing three distinct types of GSI - bioswales, bioretention cells, and constructed wetlands. Improving the efficacy of chemotherapy remains a key challenge in cancer treatment, considering the low bioavailability, high cytotoxicity, and undesirable side effects of some clinical drugs. Targeted delivery and sustained release of therapeutic drugs to cancer cells can reduce the whole-body cytotoxicity of the agent and deliver a safe localized treatment to the patient. The radiometric signature of thorium, in combination with the hyperspectral signature of carbonate minerals, can be a useful indicator of rare earth mineral occurrences in air-borne geophysical exploration. Recent technological advancements have allowed unmanned aircraft system (UAS)--borne spectral imaging and gamma-ray spectroscopy systems to acquire high-spatial-resolution data. Improved recovery from tight oil reservoirs will be accomplished through a more thorough understanding of primary and enhanced production mechanisms. This is true for both primary production and production following cyclic gas injection processes. The production mechanisms are controlled by reservoir fluid properties and pore network characteristics. The pore networks found in these reservoirs include large fractions of nanometer scale pores, which effect fluid flow and storage. The effect of coexisting ions on the selectivity of adsorption onto magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) for various elements in aqueous solutions was investigated. Surrogate solutions of varying concentrations of rare earth elements (REEs), heavy metals, and gangue elements (low commercial value elements or metals) were mixed with MNPs. Selectivity experiments were performed on surrogate samples based on the composition of a REE ore concentrate and a leach liquor from the chlorinated products of the roasted REE ore concentrate. The All-In Sustaining Cost (AISC) was introduced in 2013 to better capture the cost of producing one ounce of gold and, when compared with the gold price and grade, could describe a company’s gold production efficiency. Column flotation was phenomenologically investigated with Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) as an uninterrupted instrument to measure gas holdup. Two-phase tests were performed to use the measurements for examining gas dispersion. Results were found to duplicate the findings in a previous thesis. With confidence attained in experimental procedures, three-phase tests were then performed to compare gas holdup with hydrophobic and hydrophilic solids. Hydrophobic solids included talc as well as dolomite with dodecyl amine (DDA) collector. Hydrophilic solids included dolomite as well as talc with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) depressant. The adsorption capacity for six rare earth elements (Lanthanum, Terbium, Neodymium, Dysprosium, Praseodymium, and Holmium) by biochar produced from hemp feedstock was investigated. An innovative approach to enhancing the adsorption of rare earth elements using biochar was studied and investigates the potential of resonant vibratory mixing (RVM) as a process intensification method compared to conventional mechanical mixing for the adsorption process. Due to a combination of elevated compressive strength from the cement and aggregates and tensile strength from the reinforcing steel, reinforced systems are favorable in construction applications where high strength is desired. Several clinical studies since 2008 have reported stent failure through mechanical means from inadequate strength, fatigue failure, coating failure via delamination and cracking, and pathological failures. Enhancement of the mechanical performance and stability of the polymer coating has the potential to minimize coating failure, aiding in the prevention of the other failure modes. Biochar, a naturally occurring and renewable carbon material, becomes porous through activation. Activated biochar is an ideal candidate for use as an adsorbent. The purpose of this work in this study, acetylene alcohols containing heteroatomic substituents in their molecular composition- 2-(-thiophen-2-yl)but-3-yn-2-ol, 2-(3-methylthiophen-2-yl)but-3-yn-2-ol, 2-(furan-2-yl)but-3yn-2-ol, 2-(pyridin-4-yl)but-3-yn-2-ol, 2-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)but-3-yn-2-ol, 2-(5-bromothiophen-2yl)but-3-yn-2-ol acetylene diols were synthesized based on the reaction with acetone in a dimethyl sulfoxide solvent in the presence of the Bu4NOH/DMSO/H2O catalytic system. The influence of the molar ratio of starting materials, reaction duration, temperature, nature of the catalyst and solvents on the product yield was systematically studied. The purpose of the work is to study the process of synthesis of furfuryl oligomers with high molecular weight at various ratios of furfuryl alcohol and hydroxyl-containing polyether polyol. The influence of the process method on the yield of high-molecular furfuryl oligomer is shown - with a one-step synthesis method with an increase in the amount of furfuryl alcohol from 20 to 50 moles per 1 mole of polyether polyol, the yield of the final product decreases from 75% to 56%, apparently due to high exothermic effects, causing gelation systems. In this work the vinylation reactions of aromatic carboxylic acids with vinyl acetate, which contain various substituents, in the presence of 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine were studied for the first time. The influence of the nature of the starting materials, temperature, reaction duration, solvent and reagents - zinc triflate (Zn(OTf)2, 3,3-diphenylbinaphthol (3,3'-Ph2BINOL-2Li), tertiary potassium butylate (KOtrBu), butyllithium (BuLi) for the synthesis of vinyl esters. The purpose of the study is to develop a new catalytic system for the synthesis of internal acetylene alcohols from the Sonogastric coupling reaction of terminal acetylene alcohols and benzolchloride. The purpose of the study was to obtain ground enamel based on local raw materials and to study the effect of boron oxide. The selection of local raw materials for producing ground enamel showed that the resulting glass compositions are in the SiO2–Al2O3–Na2O–K2O–CaO–B2O3 system. To adjust the properties, additives of nickel oxide and cobalt oxide were used. The properties of the developed compositions of primer enamels meet the requirements of GOST 24405-80. The aim of the present research is to develop compounds and technologies for applying the luminous vitrocrystalline compounds to smooth and ribbed glass substrates in LED lamp structure with a remote photoconverter that contains oxide low melting glass as the base and nanostructured cerium–doped yttrium–aluminum garnet powder as the luminophore. In order to obtain the full content of high-temperature superconducting phases using the “Super Fast Alloys Quenching” technology in the Large Solar Furnace (Parkent), precursors of bismuth cuprates of the series Bi1,7Pb0,3Sr2Ca(n-1)CunOy, n=3-30 were synthesized. Methods for study the properties of precursors are presented. The oriented nano-sized microstructure and layered structure of nanocrystalline nuclei are shown.
