A Perspective Into Development Of Pavement Design Methods For Low Volume Roads: A Review, Mwajuma Lingwanda Jun 2023

A Perspective Into Development Of Pavement Design Methods For Low Volume Roads: A Review, Mwajuma Lingwanda

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

The definition of low volume roads (LVRs) is not time static and it varies from place to place around the world. The importance of such roads for providing access, in connecting communities and link farms to markets is well appreciated worldwide. LVRs are credited as the direct source of social economic development in rural communities, growth, reduction of poverty and sustaining livelihood. Nevertheless, the LVR network is growing at an unsatisfactory rate especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. The slow rate in developing LVR network is attributed to the high cost of construction and maintenance. To the author’s perspective, research has a …

The optimum lime concentration was obtained from bench experiments, giving an initial pH of up to …

Review On Modifications Of Sisal Fibers For Textile Applications, Liberato V Haule Jun 2023

Review On Modifications Of Sisal Fibers For Textile Applications, Liberato V Haule

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

Properties of sisal fibers such as high coarseness and poor drapability made the fibers less suitable in production of conventional textiles compared to synthetic fibers. The environmental consciousness and depletion of petrochemical resources have attracted researchers on investigating the use of natural fibers in the industrial production of conventional textiles. Sisal is among highly researched natural fibers due to its features such as strength, recyclability, availability, low processing cost, light weight and ease process ability. This paper reviews possible modifications of sisal fibers to enhance performance in conventional textiles applications

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Investment portfolio selection is a difficult subject due to the presence of competing factors. Choosing a portfolio for one's investments is a major choice that may have far-reaching effects on one's financial well-being. Risk tolerance, time horizon, investing objectives, asset allocation, and investment selection are only a few of the factors that will be studied in this article. The Stable Preference Ordering Towards Ideal Solution (SPOTIS) technique is the basis for our proposed integrated multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model. This paper used the single-valued neutrosophic set as a framework to deal with uncertain data. The purpose of the suggested SPOTIS–Neutrosophic model …

Optimizing Repayment Strategies For Egyptian Construction Companies With Multiple Loans, Moataz Elkady Jun 2023

Optimizing Repayment Strategies For Egyptian Construction Companies With Multiple Loans, Moataz Elkady

Theses and Dissertations

Optimizing Repayment Strategies for Egyptian Construction Companies with Multiple Loans is of utmost importance to efficiently allocate monthly income for loan repayment. The conventional practice of paying the minimum balance due each month leads to increased interest charges and prolonged repayment periods. In response, this research proposes a model for multiple loan repayment that considers the computational complexity involved.

The model is built on the foundation of mixed integer linear programming and aims to establish an optimal repayment schedule by minimizing the total cash required to repay the loans, prioritizing the repayment of loans before personal expenses. The implementation of …

Experimental Investigation On Recovery Of Micro Hydropower Dump Load Through Oil Heating System, Joseph H. Kihedu Dr.

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

Micro hydropower power generates electrical energy to meet connected electrical demand, that normally fluctuates causing imbalances. Electronic load controller is then used to balance power system by diverting surplus generated power to the dump load commonly resistive load such as bulk water heater. This study investigated use of oil heating system as a replacement for conventional resistive dump load. In comparison to water, oil has high thermal retention therefore can serve as good thermal media. Dump load range ranged between 17 kW to 78 kW. A 6-kW electrical heater was used for laboratory oil heating system from which heated oil …

The Concept Of Permeability On The Neighbourhood Scale, Aulia Urrohmah, Evawani Ellisa, Achmad Hery Fuad

CSID Journal of Infrastructure Development

Urban sprawl is rapidly expanding in the outskirts of Jakarta, resulting in a patchwork of urban areas. Unlike many walkable cities in Europe that have long embraced the pedestrian culture, Jakarta and other developing cities have prioritized private vehicle-oriented development, leading to mixed urban forms. According to data from BPS in 2022, over 16.5 million motorcycles are registered in Jakarta, and 62.3% of Jabodetabek commuters use them. This study recognizes the permeability of neighbourhood scale concerning using motorcycles to support daily mobility. This narrative qualitative research investigated permeability regarding the legibility, variety, and perceptual aspects. In addition, to illustrate the …

People-Centric And Inclusive Approach To Planning Of Smart Cities, Olli Jakonen

CSID Journal of Infrastructure Development

The smart city continues from intelligent, creative, and sustainable urban development imaginaries and started as a technologically oriented urban development framework. Since its conception, debates between academics, planning practitioners, and private firms have expanded and questioned original notions of ‘smart’ to consider people-centeredness, participation, and inclusion themes broadly. These discussions in smart cities have pointed to a need to question and revise many of the aims, approaches, and methods related to smart urban development. This review asks what elements and factors could be required for a city to be considered smart and people centric. The participatory design enabled by digital …

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The method of simulation structural-complex continuous-discrete control systems is discussed. For simulation and calculation of dynamic processes in continuous-discrete systems topological interpolation method is proposed, based on application of hybrid methods of space of state variables and interpolation of signals. The essence of the method is that the dynamics of the investigated system, considered at the final interval, is broken down into subintervals, on each of which the processes are described by linear ordinary system differential equations. The computational efficiency of the proposed method was evaluated by comparison with standard methods such as the Runge-Kutta-Merson method. The use of this …
