Thanks for the cooperation between Sapienza University of Rome and CREA Engineering, the energy consumption of twenty Po Valley’s farms company was diagnosed. The purpose was to determine a Standard Energy Diagnosis Procedure (SEDP), for the agricultural sector. In the case of study below, the farm company has decided to adhere to a process of technological renewal, able to reduce to zero, the energy consumption, related to electricity and agricultural naphtha.

The paper deals with a heat pump system for the food industry characterized by two products - refrigeration and heating. The working fluid is ammonia, an ecological refrigerant harmless for the environment. For every apparatus, corresponding to its utility and operating field, the exergetic balance states the “product” and “fuel”. The work analyses the conduct of the system at the variation of the operating and constructive parameters. The exergoeconomic technique succeeds in pointing out for every dissipative zone the exergy destruction and losses.

The main challenge in multi-core processors is the fact that they have heterogeneous hardware components. Breast conserving surgery (BCS) is an effective treatment for early-stage cancers as long as the margins of the resected tissue are free of disease according to consensus guidelines for patient management. However, 15% to 35% of patients undergo a second surgery since malignant cells are found close to or at the margins of the original resection specimen. This review highlights imaging approaches being investigated to reduce the rate of positive margins, and they are reviewed with the assumption that a new system would need high sensitivity near 95% and specificity near 85%. Queuing systems are important parts of our daily lives and to keep their operations at an efficient level they need to be monitored by using queuing Performance Metrics, such as average queue lengths and average waiting times. On the other hand queue lengths and waiting times are generally random variables and their distributions depend on different properties like arrival rates, service times, number of servers. We focused on detecting the change in service rates in this report. This research explored driver comprehension and behaviors with respect to right-turn signal displays with a focus on the Flashing Yellow Arrow (FYA) in a driving simulator and a comprehension survey. Flashing yellow arrows are used in place of other turn signals, such as solid green or flashing yellow or red circles, to indicate that drivers may turn after yielding to oncoming traffic. These turns are considered “permissive.” Turns where no conflicting traffic is present, such as those indicated with a green arrow, are “protected” turns. Our previous IoT based prosthetic arm prototype used servo motors to control finger movement through an Arduino Mega, which is connected to the muscle, pulse, and temperature sensors. The Arduino Mega was also connected to a Raspberry Pi 3 model B to transfer data from/to an online web application. One major limitation encountered during testing this prosthetic device was the space occupied by these components, which makes the device bulky. Water resources in Florida have been severely degraded by eutrophic conditions, resulting toxic algae blooms, which negatively affect health and tourism. Eutrophication, or excessive amount of phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) in water, overstimulates the production of aquatic plants, depletes dissolved oxygen, and deteriorates the aquatic environment. However, phosphorus is a non-renewable resource essential for all living organisms. In fact, more than half of the total demand for P globally is to supply the food industry, which has concerningly accelerated the depletion rates of phosphate reserves.

Placing a geomembrane liner in the core of a dam is an alternative construction technique to traditional clay core types. This study aims to assess the performance of such internal geomembrane sealing systems in an earthen dam. Two-dimensional (2D) numerical analysis was performed to evaluate leakage through defective seams within an earthen dam. Five possible applications of internal geomembrane systems were initially modeled to locate the zero-pressure lines in an earthen dam.
