A Location Aware History-Based Approach For Network Selection In Heterogeneous Wireless Networks, Amir Hossein Jafari, Hadi Shahriar Shahhoseini

Efficient decision making in vertical handoff and network selection algorithms improves users' quality of service and helps users meet service requirements, anywhere and at any time. Hence, in this paper, a user-centric network selection algorithm is proposed, utilizing the estimated reputation of the available candidate networks based on user location and combined experienced users' utility. User utility is defined based on 1) quality of service, 2) monetary cost, and 3) energy consumption metrics. Iris And Eye Corner Detection By Processing Internal Webcam Images, Bülent Turan, Hali̇l İbrahi̇m Eski̇kurt

the eye regions of laptop users. To achieve this, the iris and eye corners are detected by processing the images captured by the standard internal webcam of a laptop. In addition, an artificial neural network (ANN) is used for determining the eye region. Hereby, the iris and eye corners can be detected in the determined eye region. In the study, 107 user images are captured by using a laptop's internal camera under different light intensities, environments, viewpoints, and positions. Direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) is one way of controlling torque in switched reluctance motors. Despite the presence of DITC control, torque ripple at nominal or higher speeds is considerable due to the back emf increasing. To overcome this drawback, many converters have been proposed. In most convertors proposed for fast excitation in DITC, controlling of boost capacity is an important problem. This paper presents a DITC for a switched reluctance motor using a proposed converter to reduce the torque ripple with controlled boost capacitor automatically. The support vector machine (SVM) is one of the highly powerful classifiers that have been shown to be capable of dealing with high-dimensional data. However, its complexity increases requirements of computational power. Recent technologies including the postgenome data of high-dimensional nature add further complexity to the construction of SVM classifiers. In order to overcome this problem, hardware implementations of the SVM classifier have been proposed to benefit from parallelism to accelerate the SVM. In this study multiple linear regression, multilayer perceptron (MLP) regression, and support vector regression (SVR) are used to make multivariate tourism forecasting for Turkey. This paper is a comparative study of data mining techniques based on multivariate regression modelling with monthly data points to forecast tourism demand; it focuses on Turkey. Both MLP and SVR methods are widely employed in the variety forecasting problems. Most of the previous research on tourism forecasting used univariate time series or a limited number of variables with mostly yearly or quarterly, and rarely monthly frequencies. This paper proposes a model for supporting electrical engineering with e-learning. The model development is based on survey data collected from representative teachers and students studying in higher education institutions in Turkey. To develop the model, the study investigated the attitudes of the representative key stakeholders in the relevant higher education institutions towards e-learning by administrating questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students. The responses of the teachers and students were then compared. Based on the results, a model was proposed with a multidimensional approach to e-learning. Today, power consumption presents a critical issue when designing embedded systems. It has become a key factor in a product's success when being marketed, especially for mobile systems. In this paper, we have developed a typical design for video zoom-in processing with low power consumption. The proposed design has been implemented on the Xilinx Virtex-5 with the integration of different important resources like embedded processor, embedded memory, MPMC, DDR, and various interfaces.
